Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Ah I'm free ,what a bunch of nutters ...I said to her I was literally in the toilet 5 minutes and I came out and everything was locked.

I did it yesterday

It has made a big difference and stopped the eml illuminating, but I'm going to go back under and give it a further spray with wd40 and another wiggle as it may still not be opening fully. But a lot better than it was. The van sat around a lot with the previous owners so probably just seized up from not getting used.
Mouse milk is way better than WD40, worth looking for seized waist gate,

I think you can claim a first finding a Lidl open on a Sunday in France.
You are just trying to live up to my standards. About 3 years ago we got locked in a Fort, just us not the van.

I expect the cars were all staff, it was going home time and so they pushed off. I don’t blame them really, it is Sunday after all.
I would just be really really grateful that one came back for you. I hope you were nice 😀

Could have been really worrying Tam, they could have held you for ransom!!! You would have been there months while we all had a whip-round.::bigsmile:
Ach I knew they'd open tomorrow bit I really didn't want to stay there it was right on the side of a busy dual carriageway

To be honest I'm not sure if it was open as I didn't go in the shop . But the gate was open, the lights were all on etc and 4 or 5 cars in the carpark. I only pulled in to have lunch at it was basically on the road I was driving so I thought rather than divert off.

But I ate lunch and I has went to the loo before we headed off and when I drove over I noticed everyone has gone lol

I was surprised when the car came back she must have been driving down the other side of the road or something...she just laughed I don't think she understood what I was saying. I only said to her ...I was in the toilet .. that was it she laughed and opened the gate then drove off again.. the bloody gate was closing again as I drove through ..it nearly hit the van

Can you measure the bridge for future reference lol
I love these low bridges, go under them at speed and watch Janie slide down the seat. 😆
If its lower than stated on the sign and I hit it, I'm in the right so no worries. 😁

I did hit a roof in a truck once, just caught the corner, got back in the yard and told them it's not much just the corner, he came out to have a 👀
I opened the back doors and the wind had got in the fibreglass roof and it was probably lying on the M4 somewhere. :Eeek::rofl: Bob.

In other news when it had stopped raining I stopped in a layby earlier and crawled under the van , gave the waste gate lever another good spray with wd40 and made sure it was completely free which it now is , sprayed it with some spray grease but as expected it did just pretty much burn/evaporate off immediately, the turbo gets red hot from the exhaust. But its been going great , not a race car obviously but its not painful to drive now . I still think a remapp would improve it dramatically but I'm just glad I no longer get the clutch judder I was getting and I can get up hills without having to drop down to 1st gear .

Anyway we never made nevers , I still had 90 minutes to drive at half 4 and I was sore and bored driving, also wanted to walk the dogs before it got dark . So we are stopped at gien.
You might be too close to stop at Nevers for coffee break, but it is worth a stop. Some ancient buildings right by the river bridge and some amazing modern glass in the church, it’s a shame you would not be able to go in with the doggies. We went in one at a time. Church was bombed by RAF going for the road bridge and adjacent railway bridge to stop the Germans racing up to Normandy to stop the invasion.

I probably won't stop there now as I want to get south of clermont ferrand for tomorrow night which is about 4 hours driving. We've been missing our walks the last 3 or 4 days having only done around 7000 steps today.

So 4 hours tomorrow will see me to Clermont-Ferrand. Then 4 hours on Tuesday will get me to narbonne and then to girona on Wednesday.

That's my rough plan.

Stopped for lunch , it took me about half an hour to get out that village this morning as my bloody satnav still had an obsession with that 2.6m bridge. I drove way out the village trying to avoid it and the bloody satnav brought me back to the same point . Its crap when you don't have a co pilot.

Anyway I'm not going to get to my next stop till around 5pm ... roads are quiet and most have been dual carriageway or motorway so making good progress but we did start off late. Think it was about 11am when we left . Will have to do better tomorrow morning lol.

So a quick lunch and we will be off again. Rain hasn't stopped all morning, I think I got a camera flash too on one of those 110km but 90km for trucks and caravans. Never said motorhomes lol but will see if anything turns up.

Van going a lot lot better but definitely feel it's still sticking a little bit as you can hear and feel it. So when I get another dry day I'll have another look , no warning light now though so just shows you it can be sticking a little and there's nothing to tell you it is
I have a Co Pilot……and SHEs Rubbish!!!
Total Harmony…..is
A Good Sat Nav👍👍😀✋

Bonswa 😁

We are in issoire tonight , arrived around 3pm , we left gien around 10am and had stopped for lunch about 20km north of Clermont-Ferrand. We are on an official aire again with all free services. Currently 7 other vans here with me all French, the aire holds 14 in total. Edit* no 8 just arrived with a trailer.

Had a walk around the town , its pretty sleepy with not much going on at this time of year , I was looking for something to take pics of but there wasn't much .

I was behind this camper today that I've seen before , it's a German cyropractor ( spelt wrong ) I'm sure I was parked beside him somewhere in Spain or summit before.

Another milestone on the milometer today not to be seen the like of for another 10000 miles

And the rest are the town ...not much to see really

Heres another colour scheme for you to consider for your Merc when you do it Tam.
Parked on the seafront at Stonehaven today.
Its a 407D & if I have got the correct Reg. No, it comes back as a 1981- but 3.5T with a double wheel back axle?

Good going Tam 👍 you'll not be long getting down to Narbonne, the aire that used to be there is now a sports stadium although the big Carrefour supermarket across the road allows overnight stays in the car park the new aire is a few miles out of town now near the sea, very quiet but feck all else lol

I'm leaving mine the colour it is for now as the paintwork is good. . But if that old-timer is 3500 ill eat my hat. I'd expect it to be 4.5 -5t

Yeah I should make narbonne tomorrow, will see how things go where I park , I don't actually need the aires I just thought I'd make use of them where provided. But I've enough water to see me in to Spain.

What end of the town is that and is overnighting allowed?
At the Cowie end. The only "No Overnighting" restriction I've seen is about 4 seperate bays nearest the beachfront houses at Cowie.
There are always 2 or 3 MH's overnighting further along towards the cafes.

Nice one. I always presumed, because of the caravan park there, that they would have enforced restrictions all along the beach front. Gonna try that out this weekend.

There are signs now at Carrefour banning overnight parking. I think you have to be away by 9pm. It would be Gruissan for me.
