Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Few buskers in town today , fair bit of homelessness too sadly so they got my change first. The harbour parking is all gone now . There's a spot by the cathedral but not for big vans and when I walked there it was mobbed and works going on . I think where I'm parked is actually the best option as I'm also near the beach .
I’m glad the buskers survived the bureaucrats 👍
The Irish motorhomers just avoid Galway and let it be known why

Maybe you need to get a banner like this for your motorhome, Tam. She gazes into her crystal ball and doesn't seem to have any trouble finding somewhere to park.

Steady on boy! :punch: I own an Autotrail. I have one of the non-leaky, older versions and it has just survived a real State of Emergency Flood better than my house did.☔

Although on his ignore list have continued following him offline. Fantastic photos of amazing scenery. Must be working for the Irish Tourist Board. Keep it coming.
Hey! I’ve just popped in...... glad I’m not alone on this big ignore list 🙄

A gentleman does not kiss n tell. No luck on the irish passport though corragh is originally from belfast now lives in galway and doesn't even have her own passport. Scuppered , anyway the 3 cups of coffee and the walk along the beach were pleasant , shes a goth and quite my type but I dont think it was anything more than a casual meeting.

We left galway this morning , stopped at oranmore took a few pics of oranmore castle , visited the pier at renville to fill up my water tanks , had a walk there , 4 miles from the van the heavens opened so back to the van got changed as my Jean's and boots were dripping. Then headed to kinvarra and dunguaire castle , still raining so just a few pics of the castle and headed off again . This time to corcomroe abbey where we stopped for lunch and I phoned mum for a blether. By the time I had lunch it had dried up a bit and the sun was making an appearance so we had a walk around the old abbey ruins , after lunch we drove through the burren national park , spotted another old castle ruin which is now a glorified cow shed , and on to the old stone fort caherconnell, sadly it's also private owned and you cant get near it without going through a visitor centre , restaurant and shop..none of which interests me so I got the drone out for a few shots.

After that our final stop of the day was poulnabrone dolmen passage tomb and we will stay overnight here. I'm typing all this on my tablet trying to save data on my phone as I'm struggling with it but the photos are on the phone so I will post them shortly.

Sun is out now thankfully and it's nice and bright , I have my towels and jeans out in an attempt to dry them a bit .

What will you do with your drone if/ when you go to Morocco?
( Not really expecting an answer as I too am on " the long list")

Whilst in the Burren didn't pass "The parochial house" then ?
Mind you cant get Tea there now
:)

No it's over the other side from me , I'll be heading to doolin from here and cliffs of mohair
Don't forget to pay your respects to Dusty Springfield while at the Cliffs of Moher. They scattered her ashes there.
We over-nighted in the car park and it's the first and only time that we have ever had to move in the early hours because the wind was so strong we thought we'd be joining Dusty at the bottom of the cliffs! 🌪️

They want €12 per person to park in that carpark these days ....not per vehicle which would be bad enough to walk to see what is effectively a free inherited natural site. But €12 per person lol

These people should be publicly stoned.

Access to the cliffs themselves is actually free but they make sure theres nowhere to park nearby that isnt charging highway robber prices.

If the weather is too bad to walk to them from doolin (3 hour round trip) I'll just be giving them a miss lol

After all it is just a cliff.

That’s astronomical. We didn’t pay anything to park there, but we probably arrived after the car park attendant had left. We weren’t alone. I remember a German pop top camper being there and they lowered the canvas top down in case it became a kite!

Tam there used to be loads of lay-bys on all approach roads to the cliffs and you just crossed a field to the cliff walk, nobody was ever moved on but I know people who have waited until carpark closed around 7.00pm and parked in it then because apparently they have to leave the barrier open not sure how up to date this info is but worth a look, also I believe if you do pay the €12 there's water & toilets etc
There's a pub in Liscannor that used to welcome camper vans and theres a lovely wee harbour there too & walk back towards Hags head which gives good views of the cliffs, the cliffs of Moher is a massive area, there is a wee lane that goes up to the tower there it says cul de sac no parking but if you leave it late enough no body will bother you up there for a bit of stealth camping 😉 lol
