Tam n pups winter trip 2022

I can't decide what to do with my scooter rack for the motorhome. I've nowhere to store it when I head off but as yet I'm not sure if I want to carry a scooter with me or not. So I'm not sure whether to just fit it on the van and take it with me . It adds half a metre to the length. Or to advertise it and sell it. But I got it at a good price when I bought it and I would probably buy a scooter or small off road bike again later if I was going to continue travelling long term .


I suppose its also handy as a rear bumper protector.

This van has a proper towbar on it so I'd hope it was stronger than the one that was on the euramobil
 
Can anyone store it for you? Shame you're not closer as I could stick it in the garage here as I've a load of space since I've given it a good clear out.

Hi Tam, just caught up with your posts and so very sorry to hear about your Mum. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹You have some great photos of her which will help with the healing memories over time.

Glad to see you decided to keep the scooter rack.
You could put a box of some description on that for extra storage.
We have a shredder too her name is Pippa, our last dog loved to shred Bubble wrap!

That looks some overhang at the back with the rack. How’s your rear axle loading?
 
If you have 'stuff' to store, you should research small storage pods, there are some good deals around.

Can't remember off hand what the rear axle weight Is, but I've 6 leafs on each rear spring plus airbags on the rear. The rack itself is only 30kg

The vans 4200kg max

Not had it on a weighbridge but I'm sure it's well under

I enquired about one that's nearby but for a 9ft x 5ft container pod they quoted £1000 for a year. And what I wanted to store isn't worth a grand second hand so not worth it really.
 
Leaving France today Tam (been here since early September) heading back up home for Christmas etc, when are you hoping to head off again? And are you still heading out Turkey direction?
I've decided to go down to Spain/Algarve after Christmas for a few weeks then head back over to Morocco for another spin at least your guaranteed the weather there, if you are doing Turkey the year I did a winter there it was still cool enough even in April although to be fair that was Istanbul so leave that part until your heading back out again! Lol

Yeah I think so ....purely as at the minute the future is uncertain and I want to tick Turkey off my list. And I did Spain etc last winter so I like to change it up a bit. Still not sure I'd return to Morocco or not. I think it's a hard place to travel solo , if I hadn't met up with those other couples last year I'd have given up on it sooner I think. I'll probably spend Christmas in Greece then head to Turkey and go south first and maybe Georgia..then work my way back up and perhaps do Bulgaria and Romania again on the way home. But no set plan as yet. My only restriction this trip will be my mot which isn't due till late August. So I may be gone longer. Will all depend how I feel once on the road and how the camper does. I've a lot to think about once I'm doing it to decide my next plan .
 
Sounds great Tam, I think you'll enjoy Turkey we did 3 months there started getting the better weather from Kas (beautiful place) onwards right to the Syria border then we headed north and it started getting coolish again above Van and near Iran and the North Black Sea coast is just like Scotland or Ireland! 😂😂 but still worth the visit to see it, would like to do Georgia sometime too, we were close to it but headed back to Istanbul and Bulgaria but whatever way you travel you'll enjoy it

Definitely Just smiffy we'll be there around the same time and everyone knows where everyone else is when you travel in Morocco so we'll definitely see you there 👍

Commonly found on trailers etc. ...but I need a few to mount my trailer ramp and trailer board .

I'm also going to just use the upright bar to mount my reverse camera on just now. Purely as I can't find a place on the back panel or roof that I could mount one easily . But I can run the cables under the van from the towbar and then I'll have a rear view camera . Would still work even if I had a scooter on it later.
 
Doesn't make the van that much longer.

It's stripped to just the frame at the minute as I want to repaint it and all the other bits before I assemble it. Will look much neater then.

I might buy another scooter or a wee Honda grom like dave Wissel has later but don't really have time to get one this year before I head off and I'm not sure how much I'd use one this year.

But the rack is handy to keep hold off
