Just dropped moby off at forth auto electrics to have the cab heater looked at. I've gave him the back story of what I've tried so far so I'm hoping they can come up with something. He did say worse case scenario he would fit a flick switch on maximum setting till I try and locate a new switch or resistor whichever is causing the problems. This morning was particularly bad for condensation so I really need it sorted as it would be a nightmare to drive in the colder weather.

We know the fans OK, it could be the s/h resistor pack but more likely the switch or wiring. Problem is you have probably got to take ½ the dash out to get at the wiring. Could just be a connector burnt out under the dash somewhere.
It should be that hard for an auto electrian to trace the wiring and confirm it gets from the switch to the heater.

Yeah that's the problem is don't know if that s/h resistor worked or not. Although my one had that bit missing and the replacement was certainly complete. But they should be able to test that. Its strange how there's nothing from the switch whatsoever so it's possibly just the on off bit that's knackered. It works kind of like a light dimmer on this one , there's only one click off /on then smooth rotation to increase speed.

This auto spark is 60 years in the business with a good reputation round here so I'm sure he'll sort something out at least.

Didn't think it would be so hard to get parts for this van.

Just picked up moby , there was no live at the switch and no live at the resistor ... burnt connectors somewhere. So it's all fixed now , switch and resister and motor all fine so it's working as normal with no additional switches .

£132 all in for 2.5 hours labour.

I'm just glad it's sorted , I can live without aircon but not without a heater or demister.

In other news my sister and I are just back from seeing the priest that's doing mum's funeral. ... this is the 3rd one lol as she kept changing it.

I'm not religious and my sister isn't much either so we were a little anxious about that but he seems nice enough.

Mum wanted a full traditional funeral mass , she even had all the hymns picked out etc so that made it easier.

I've been mostly fine the last week or so just keeping myself busy but he managed to get me in tears again.

I miss her , there's so many times I go to text her or want to tell her something about my day then I remember she's not there , I'm also still struggling to remove the last week she was here from my memory ,... and it wasn't good.

But anyway it's one more thing sorted. Still 2 weeks to go to the funeral , we've decided to put the house up for sale the week after the funeral so around the start of November, I think it will likely have a buyer by the time I head off hopefully around the 14/15th November but will take a month or 2 to be settled.

My Dad died in the early hours on Tuesday morning. I totally get the pain of those surprise thoughts, or things like removing his phone number from my favourites. I think I’m fine snd then I’m in bits. I hope it all goes as well as it can for both of us over these difficult weeks.

I can't bring myself to delete her phone etc . She has a lot of photos on her phone she never deleted anything so I've been sending myself texts from her phone over the last couple of weeks. She had left her phone and kindle to me anyway so I'll be taking those with me.

You know, I can't actually remember what year my Dad died (sounds a bit callous, but someone explained it to me that it's like being very near a bomb going off, you sometimes don't actually hear the explosion although you feel the blast ?) It's about 15 years ago, but I still occasionally think "Oh, I'll ask Dad about that ?" and then you remember ...

Forgive me

I'm so caught up in my own grief it totally escaped me to say sorry for your own loss.

In a weird way I envy your pain.
In the last decade of their lives I had no contact with my parents. I know nothing of their demise. I know not if they were cremated or buried.
I envy those who had a relationship with their parents, good or bad ... and yet I cannot miss what I never knew.

Be strong Tam. You have memories.

Really sorry to hear this. I remember you coming back from Morocco largely due to concerns about your dad. I really feel for you - I miss my dad so badly - that’s 6 years now.

I got to take my mum to the shops and buy her a new telly today, before catching up on here I thought it was a bit of a nightmare, she wanted sizes that didn't exist, a central stand, not 4 feet, makes that got awful reviews, eventually she got what was the best tv, but I won't take these things for granted or feel its such a pain in the future, I will appreciate what I have while I've got it.

My father died in SA and the only thing I got from it was a weeks compassionate leave from work, everyone thought I had gone to SA for the funeral! Sorry but I don’t miss him.
Mother lived in St David’s and we were never close, brother lived same place and he was the favourite so I let them get on with it, I did attend her funeral.
Sad to say that I miss my cousin Sally more than my parents!

Tam - when my Mum died 13 years ago a friend told me to never stop speaking (if only silently) to her. This I have done and now I find myself smiling during our mostly one sided conversations. It certainly helped me.
Dad died 10 years ago and I still have his sweater Mum knitted for him and other bits of absolutly no value but priceless to me.
