Never a dull moment
I have been self employed for most of my life so I pay my accountant to deal with this stuff and make sure I pay the correct amount of NIC and tax etc. That said, I do wonder should I just check for myself  or just give myself a flaming headache :ROFLMAO:

Yes but you know by 2040 it will have had an inflation increase every year until then.
I guess they have to quote some figure but can't predict what it will accurately be.

The way things are going though 203 quid will buy very little

Half my shopping has increased by 50% each item in just 8 months lol.

And I can't see the prices ever returning. Not while the supermarkets are making a huge profit

Had the unpleasant job of removing and retentioning the blinds on the motorhome today. If you've never had this joy you are missing out.

My back is now killing me .

Tam.

They can only quote you the current figure of £203.85 per week. I wouldn't be concerned about the actual number when you retire, that will have at least matched inflation (if the government continue with the triple lock scheme). What's more important is that you're currently eligible for 88% of the maximum.

Like you say, you've got several more years left to make up for the missing years and turn that 88% to 100%. However if for any reason you still don't have a full NI record as retirement approaches you can make voluntary NI contribution. I did this and it costs about £800 a year - it sounds a lot but the payback in terms of increased pension is about 3 years. I think these have to be bought before you begin to take your pension.

It really is quite concerning the level of mental illness out there just now.

There have always been timewasters , we've all had them but I'm getting a whole different level of timewaster these days.

So here's the latest 2

Case no 1

I got a message on gumtree yesterday , guy asking lots of questions about the solar , fridge, cooker etc , asked for a few more pics etc , sounded very interested . Did say that it was a little over his budget . Anyway he said he wanted to come view it , arranged for 11am ...turned up nearer 12 , took a total of 8 minutes to look inside the wardrobe , 2 drawers, and one outside locker then said " it's very nice but to be honest I haven't got the money " then left.

Case no2

Guy replies to add last night at 11pm wanting to view today , asked for postcode and available time to view.

Being safety cautious I said between 12 and 3pm today would be suitable but didn't give the postcode. He replied at 11.45pm saying he wasn't sure if he could come Friday or Saturday and again asked for postcode but left his phone number.

I never replied till this morning , again saying between 12 and 3 was suitable both days but I had other viewings booked and the van was in fulltime use so if he decided which day and time he could definitely come then I'd give him address and postcode before he left home if still available. He then asked if I would phone him.

So I did. He was on phone about 30 minutes asking all sorts . Then said he would come today on bus from Edinburgh and would arrive at 1.10pm

This was at 11am and I asked him to text when on bus crossing bridge as I'd then go collect him from station .

12.50pm and no contact so I text asking where he was. I got some nonsense about busses being delayed so he was taking the train and would arrive at 14.10 but he'd walk to me as not far .

So eventually he turns up at 14.40 saying he just needed a quick look. Then proceeded to look absolutely everywhere he even had the shower running .... 20 to 4 he asks for a test drive which I declined as I start work at 16.30 and still had dogs to walk .

Anyway again he seems keen and said he would try to come back tomorrow to test drive.

He text earlier asking regarding number to check mot history and to get insurance quote. He seems happy bar a test drive but no idea if he's genuine or not .

Getting really bored now as it's a big inconvenience when I live in it fulltime took me another 20 minutes to put all the throws etc back on so the dogs could go in before I went to work.

Late for work as a result

There are definitely some looney tunes out there Tam. I had a bidder on ebay message to say they had placed the highest bid on an item but with 8 minutes to go they had changed their mind, message sent to me with a smiley, then they did the same thing on another item the next day.

You made a right pigs ear of that. With those plugs you normally drill a small hole then screw a self tapper in to pull it out then fit a new plug

There's 26 plugs on that one window. They've all been done at some point in the past. On all 6 windows there must be about 200 plugs lol . Sod replacing them all . Most are hidden on this by the trims anyway thankfully. I didn't bother putting them back on where the frame is covered
