Tam n pups winter trip 2022

A few more pics from around the waterfall and sefrou town , we then drove to fez , parked up overnight on the outskirts, had 5 local lads come to sit and chat with us practicing their English.

That reminds me - saw a little story the other day. Someone goes into a cafe in Scotland and asks for a latte with oat milk.

"Am sorry", comes the reply, "I cannae make a latte withoot milk".

You all look very happy.
I think that with the three vans travelling together works for Morocco .
Especially wild/freedom camping as you are doing it.

Had a walk around the medina in fez today , very big and very busy , surprisingly not hassled much and the prices are reasonable, bought a couple of goatskins for £10 each. Just for decoration and a set of rams horns for £10 , and a pair of leather flip flops which are unfortunately the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn lol

Tam, can I ask about those instruments that were in the photos the day you got the rugs? Are they mandolas or mandolins? Did the chap make those too & was any sort of price mentioned? Be really interested to know, ta.

At last! Photos that could tempt me to go to Morocco.
I’m not blaming you Tam, but up until Fez I couldn’t see the appeal of Morocco, even if the climate is better than Scotland.

They were apparently ouitars...yes they made them on the premises and were for sale , no idea of price but they were reasonable with everything else.

I have his business card so I can send a photo of it if you are going there

Strange lol .

I preferred all the other places, we went to fez because we felt we had to visit one of the big cities but I personally can't see the appeal to fez, meknes or marakesh to be honest. I'm looking forward to chefchouen just because it's blue and that's different.

We both want to go - though I know I'd struggle with the dog situation, let's say it's under discussion & I'll let you know ta.

Tam all those round washing? Dying pots. what are they actually doing?

very interesting country and I’ve definitely enjoyed your journey. Thank you so much. Will you be going back?

Well I think so anyway, tam will confirm..

Think I remember seeing them on a Morocco thread a while back..😎
Yes it's the famous tannery , I believe fez has the oldest one in Morocco, a lot of the leather is sent around the world , especially Italy...a lot of "Italian leather " gucci, visace etc actually comes from Morocco

Northernraider , thanks for all the lovely photos, will never visit, john wont go and am not brave enough to go on my own, he wouldn't let me take his half of the van anyway.
Just have to say that those crocs just don't look right with the native clothing, what a pity the leather sandals are uncomfortable, if they are thong type, they take a bit if getting used to but are great once your feet are used to them.

Tam, once you wear those sandals in they will be great. I bought a pair in Tunisia many years ago. Persevere. Brilliant pictures and write up.
The bit between the toes is nae comfy , also very slidey soles
