Lake was a millpond this morning , tried to get good pics of the turtles but they scarper as soon as they see or hear you

We then left the lake heading for the gorge de dades, passed a few kasbah on the way

Parked up in a dry riverbed for the night just before the start of the gorges , will drive those tomorrow, im looking forward to the scenery but not the drive as this van doesn't like steep bendy inclines , we have two beautiful stray dogs here tonight just lovely playful characters, once again 2 dogs I would adopt in a heartbeat if I could .

totally loving this thread and your photos, quite amazing how gentle all the feral dogs are, and the stunning scenery, stark but beautiful in some places, what an adventure you are having tam..

if there is such a thing as reincarnation and i hope there is, can i come back as one of your pups please, what a wonderful life of freedom, love, safety and adventure they are having too..

just curious, have you heard any more from jackie, hope she's ok and travelling with a few people too..

You'd be surprised lol , it's me showing them where I was going not the other way round , I do wish they'd be ready to move quicker in the mornings though. Sometimes it's nearly lunchtime by the time they get organised

There are some very beautiful and friendly strays here , unfortunately many of the locals are downright cruel to them, we had one crazy woman throwing stones at our dogs the other morning one hit one of the pups on the head and drew blood , Martin the Austrian was raging he went after her a shoved her on her ass , then her son and 2 other guys turned up arguing ...there was nearly a war .

We've had other folk chase the dogs with sticks or on scooters , the strays seem to bark at the Moroccans and hide from them yet are very friendly with obvious tourists . They don't deserve dogs here to be honest , culture or not there's no excuse for how they treat them.


I haven't heard a peep from Jackie unfortunately which is a shame but entirely her choice , she never updates her Instagram or polar steps so I've no idea where she is , could be back in Spain for all I know , but she has my WhatsApp, Instagram and polarsteps so she could get in touch if she wanted to

Or want a bit of solitude without them tagging along

IIRC you only have about 2 weeks left there so it might not be an issue - perhaps if they follow you back to Spain?

Allan and fiona have a month more than me so they will be staying when I leave , Martin and Teresa plan to go back to Spain at the same time as me I'm happy to travel back at the same pace as them till I get to Spain and then see what happens, I'll only have 10 days to spend in Spain so will be doing a few hours driving each day .

Morning walkies , and a bit of hill climbing , gutted to leave these 2 strays they were really lovely , we left them food water and a bed mat , I'd have loved to take them home and find an owner for the pair as they should be together. It was a hard goodbye

We then headed to the patisserie to stock up on croissants and cake and headed in to the gorges

If we get away from anywhere before midday we congratulate our selves on an early start.

Sorry about Jackie It's a shame when someone falls out with you for no onvious reason. It leaves you wondering why. I had that happen to me and then I discovered that my 'friend' had fallen out with many people before for no reason so I stopped thinking about it.
What do the strays live on in such a barren looking place?

Yeah sometimes it's lack of space othertimes for security or a windbreak

The road through the gorges is a proper adventure, once you get past the tourist point the road becomes a dirt track which climbs to an amazing height of 2500 metres, the only other vehicles we saw was a land rover and 3 vw golf rally cars who all looked slightly embarrassed that a mad scotsman was driving a 4.5t front wheel drive motorhome up this road. But it was amazing .

We are now parked up just outside the village of Almgho we are still at 2400 metres so its quite cold up here.

They must be smoking the wrong hash I'm in the Netherlands vaping some lovely morrocon hash and have spent the whole day walking around keukenhof with the long haired general
