Just on a foot note to that Feltwell I met a Belgian couple yesterday who's 4 year old Rapido on a Fiat Ducato chassis has just died won't start or do anything they've had everything checked locally and think now its something to do with the injection system but anyway their insurance have told them it has to go to Fiat in Midelt (70 miles or so) but that they will only cover the recovery to Midelt not the parts required or repairs needed they have to be paid by the motorhomers themselves, they said the van never missed a beat up until yesterday morning and they only arrived in Morocco 3 days ago so if your coming try to get fully comp

Awk Tam just let them Fiddlesticksing edjits work away there with their money wasting, I can honestly say I've never been ripped off in Morocco for anything, you go with a price in your head and if its not close to it you just don't buy... I've found the Moroccan people lovely especially the Berbers areas where we all are now.... I'm in a campsite now and an English boy who's cycling around Morocco is staying here too and the site owner has put him up for free in 1 of the spare wee chalet houses told him not to bother setting all that tent stuff up and he was telling me that yesterday he was battling a real strong headwind and was a few hours behind his schedule to be at his next destination when it started getting dark and he ended up in this remote village arse end of nowhere and some locals brought him to a kind of village mayor boy who put him up in his own house and fed him a good breakfast this morning and sent him on his way with a bottle of water and some buns that he said looked like baby octopus! but he's here in this camp now and said he's loving his Moroccan cycling trip and has found the people to be lovely too so it's like the old saying goes there's good & bad everywhere but there's also Fiddlesticksing edjits like them ones your travelling with! Lol

The problem is they aren't necessarily eejits they just don't know anything about their vehicles and they are trusting the garages to be honest

There's probably hundreds if not thousands of tourists getting the same treatment, everyone of the vans getting work done at tafroute were complaining some had been there for weeks . They give a price and a time then they basically disable your vehicles so you can't leave ...they then try and sell you parts you don't need .

I'm lucky I have mechanical knowledge and know my vehicle but people who don't and they have one issue just get scammed.


And the same happens in all the shops . To be honest it's put me off buying anything else here now bar essentials , I get bored with guess the price especially when they start way high enough that even half price is too dear . I had a clown ask 100 euro for a throw today lol ...I can buy it online and have it delivered for 30 quid

This is the tyres they tried to tell Martin were off road tyres

100 euro each and they wanted to fit 5 ...removing continental all season tyres that were 2 months old .

This is the berber compass necklace I got guilted in to buying today with a long sob story about covid and not making money and about his friend William Wallace from edinburgh who drinks whisky...

I'm sure it's made in China lol ..the price started at 320dh lol ...that's like 25 quid

To get out the shop I gave in at 120dh .. I'll never wear it most likely . I only wanted a look in the shop .

I have a boy coming round here tomorrow to measure my 3 deck chairs when folded as I'm getting canvas type bags made for them as they're scrapping everywhere in the wee vans garage and I'm having to jam stuff between them to stop them scraping so I'll see what his prices are but I've already in my head around a tenner each which will be between 300 & 400 MAD for the lot and if he says any more than that he can Fiddlesticks right off! Lol (having said that I've already checked and they're about 40 a piece back in UK)

Aye I normally like a bit bartering but it's wearing at times and I've just got to the point I'd rather not bother. I'd have loved a few colourful throws for my next van. But at 80-100 a pop they can jog on lol

Oh right, no that boy had Rosie dressed up in all these bloody scarves talking the usual aul rubbish and when it came to prices he said oh top quality etc etc very good price 50 MAD each... I said you must think I'm Fiddlesticksing MAD and offered him 20 but he wouldn't budge so I just left them there and him to it, and it's as well I did because across from that campsite was a wee girl setting up her stall and we got 3 scarves of her for 50 MAD and she was delighted with her sale

When I was in Marrakesh I was accused of being Turkish because I was so hard at bargaining. In the souks you need a thick skin and the ability to walk away unless you are happy with the price. One tip is don't start bargaining if you don't really want the item.

In Marrakesh a guy walking around the souk selling leather belts wanted £10 for one I ended up with two for £5 probably still paid twice the going rate but I am still using them 15 years later so the quality was good.

When I was in Marrakesh I was accused of being Turkish because I was so hard at bargaining. In the souks you need a thick skin and the ability to walk away unless you are happy with the price. One tip is don't start bargaining if you don't really want the item.

I can't see proper leather belts here . It's all bonded leather crap they claim is real leather lol. My mum ran a leather shop for 15 years I can spot fake or cheap leather a mile off

There were a couple of vanlifers on youtube that hit a donkey in their orange sprinter, it was fixed through a mercedes dealership to a good standard and cost, don't follow them and can't remember their names but it is possible.

I'm impressed a Mercedes dealership would repair a donkey.

It's never good seeing one of these on a campsite but even more so in Morocco, so unless your mechanical, or are prepared to go local or else have fully comp insurance then give it a miss, really feel for this Belgian couple only 3 days into their holiday (not the motorhome in the pic)

Have you ever had motorbikes Cap'n Paul? As I've found, and I know others the same, that those of us that are used to bikes often hate riding quads! They don't lean!!

I hate them - always feel like I'm going to crash in every corner or tip over if on a side slope - give me 2 wheels any day!

4 wheels are fine so long as a seat with a backrest and a steering wheel is part of the deal!

I did and still do! I've 3 Harleys at home now 2 1200 Sportsters (the Mrs owns them) and I've a 1360 Fat Boy but had bikes years ago 350 LC Yamahas and 400RD Yams & various other bits and bobs and of course the Vespa 300 (the flying banana) which I still have too but no big garage motorhome to put it in anymore! Lol but yes I know what you mean about the handling etc but I think I'd only use that quad for off road stuff (might'nt even buy it but if he threw in a wee quad trailer in the deal I'd be tempted! )
