Lol even if I get results tomorrow I won't be down there till Thursday, then we've these daft health checks to get done .

So yesterday evening I phoned the vet once again because the 21 days is up today and I figured if they didn't know last night they wouldn't know today.

So i phoned the same number I've always phoned ...its stored in my phone. Its a 24 hrs vet

Tried at 18.10 ...it just rang and rang and eventually cut me off.

Left it again till 19.15

I got Dr alonzo himself , he said he couldn't speak much English, yet he managed fine the other week 🤷‍♂️
3 times I gave him my name , elas name and said it was for results of rabies serological test

He told me I had wrong number and I needed to phone another number he would text to me 🤔
Anyway I phoned thar got a receptionist who spoke no English...broken attempt by me in Spanish ( there are words I just don't know ) and she eventually said wait a moment and disappeared

5 minutes later a woman who spoke near perfect English came on the phone .....lo and behold it's the one I spoke with last week who said she'd call the lab
So once again she starts spouting about 21 days, I said tomorrow( today now ) will be 21 days ... and I've heard nothing

I then told her again that both myself and friends who have had the tests done recently all were told verbally in 8/9 days etc and 20/21 days for certificate....she keeps saying just have to wait

So by this time I'm losing patience , I said the lab must have tested the blood by now and I need to be out of spain in a few days ...

Eventually she said she would get Dr alonzo to phone lab today to explain the situation.

That was around 19.45 last night


At 21.03 I received an email from the vet saying they've made an appointment for me for 08.00 this morning

I was still in torremolinos so I had to drive up from there last night and try to park near the vet , im in a very noisy street but it did for last night


I'm now heading round to vet to see what miracle if any they have pulled out the hat. Especially as the woman last night told me the lab would be closed last night


So I'll keep you posted ....off now in the hope I get the results
 
Well as I suspected that was a waste of time and only served to make me angry and frustrated. I got round there for 08.00 on the dot and the place is locked up like Fort knox, shutters and big gates closed . There was a bell with a camera so I rang that. About 5 minutes passed and the shutter starts going up ... a girl comes out opens the gate and starts talking fast in Spanish....so I gave my usualy lo siento mi espanol es pobre , hablar mas despacio por favor .

At which point she said in broken English...what's wrong with the dog


I said wrong .....oh sorry nothing wrong , we have an appointment at 08.00

She says impossible , we don't open till 10..00 ...I said no I was told 08.00 .. she starts again ranting no no no es impossible we open at 10.00


I said OK look .....showed her this email

At this point I have steam coming out my ears , I said can you phone Dr alonzo

She says no ...I can't

I said why not ? She says we don't open till 10.00

I said look someone sent me this appointment, I spoke with them last night and explained the situation, they then sent me this appointment can you just phone and ask .

At this point she then tells me on Wednesdays Dr alonzo does not work till 5pm ....

I resisted strangling her at this point and had new respect for basil Fawlty

I told her I was not waiting till 5pm , I drove up from torremolinos last night because of this bloody appointment at the crack of dawn this morning and that I wanted to speak to alonzo.

The best I could get was she agreed to phone him at 10.00 am .. when I plan to be back round there to insist they sort this out.


I'm seriously pissed off with this vet now it's a joke , I should have stuck with the one in nerja. The only reason I used this one was because alonzo the clown initially told me on the phone that results took a week , and he only changed that after he'd actually taken the blood.


If you Google how long does a titre blood test take this is the answer

As vets go this one is bloody useless , no interest in animal or patient , Dr alonzo sleep obviously is more important . And the staff don't know shit

Good job there wasn't a long leafy branch laying in the street or she might have got it instead of the Austin 1100.

When I'm walking my dog and get chatting to people the topic often ends up on vets and I always rave about how good the service is in Spain and 1/3 the cost of the money making machines the vets have become here, all the independent vets have been taken over by large companies and just want to make money.

Problem is that isn't always true. I mean to date that's €650 I've laid out on vets this trip. I've another €150 to pay for health certificates that actually serve no purpose. I think the vets are out to cash in where ever you go these days.

This 21 days nonsense here for results I'd an absolute joke. And you've to constantly chase the vet to get them. Even the one in Puerto mazarron I had to keep phoning to hurry them along. They kept telling me the results were in the post yet in the end they printed them off the computer. That could have been done when they told me the results 9 days after blood was taken. And this one is the same .

There is no justifiable reason for them taking 21 days. The blood has to be tested within a few days of it being taken.


It's just bollocks tbh
 
This is absolute madness.

Still in the vet at the moment.

Alonzo not here. , other vet who speaks English has the laboratory on the phone.

So they have results , ela is OK and can travel

But ....there's a but

The lab is in Barcelona. He says they test the blood then they send results to Germany and the letter comes stamped from Germany 🤷‍♂️

They can send pdf of the letter but it won't be stamped. The letter they say will not arrive here till Friday

They say the pdf should be enough ( emphasis on should be ) but the official letter is better. But they are printing off the pdf and filling in the passport just now


So I either take my chances that the pdf is accepted or I have to hang around here till Friday for the actual letter.


I'm inclined to just take my chances with the printed pdf because I don't want to be crossing to Morocco myself and CaptainPaul Is waiting at algeciras for me at the minute.


From everything I have read no one pays a blind bit of notice to any of these documents
 
I'd go for it Tam - if the authorities don't let you travel with a completed passport & copy of letter, then you're no worse off than you are now.

...and some people wonder why I can't be doing with the hassle & expense of going abroad with Kerry.
 
The guy we spoke to rescues dogs from Morocco and said he regularly gets all way back to england without having the dogs papers checked. He says he knows lorry drivers that regularly do the same .
He travels overnight and says the french lot are always asleep.

Good luck! We're hoping to cross next Tuesday once we have sorted out the app for the vet check. Seems there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get a dog officially in and out of Morocco and yours have been higher than most!

All the checks are done when leaving. Nothing checked when returning which is complete madness but there you go .

They have all your details on record.
So a physical check on your paper copies is not required.

The PIF need your v5 so your vehicle and dogs are all electronically set to Morocco.

Not as bad as the French I had one right in front of me at the services he gets a broom out and starts washing his van. I drove up to within a few inches of his bumper and revved my engine a few times, he got the message.

I try to go to these things when no one else is there, as it really gets on my tits, waiting for someone to shift, and I also try to rush as much as possible to not hold anyone else up, as I know how I feel about it.

This was after he had filled his van with a watering can because his hose didn't reach. Because in his haste to barge in front he parked the wrong way round .

Tried to tell him to turn around but I got the gallic shrug and incomprehensible German

Anyway I'm filled and ready to go ...dogs have been out for a pee . I'll have lunch once I get to algeciras . Need to do shopping tomorrow or this evening too before I leave. But I just want down to the port now

The ones that get me are the ones who do everything sequentially and won’t start the next activity until the previous one has finished! Just open the drain valve, empty the cassette and fill with water; it’s not bloody difficult!

I've all the dogs booked in with the vet Tam your 3 and my 2, also got your sterling £££ from Gibraltar ATM and now sitting in Algericas having my lunch looking at the boats in the marina just chilling waiting for you to grace us with your presence (although the car park is fairly full so there might be a bit more cursing out of you yet!) 😂😂😂

If that's the case I will feel a lot happier knowing we can get back in with dog checks already sorted. I've got an apt for health certificate and am going to get one with the PIF a couple of hours later so we can get the paperwork done in the evening and then catch the early ferry the next day. I've emailed them and they have said it is ok to do this. Thought I'd try and spread the stress over two days! Like you, I hope Morocco is worth it!
 
We always try to take minimum time at the service point. Swmbo opens the waste valve and then supervises the water while I empty the cassette. Only takes a few minutes assuming decent water pressure. Some people take ages though especially annoying are the ones who rinse their cassette umpteen times, aren't they going to use it again.
