Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Hi NorthernRaider,

We have the same Frankia as you and I'm interested in you having removed the sliding table. What did you replace it with? Have you a photo of the revised arrangement?

Norman
Yes Norman I just bought a second hand freestanding caravan table from gumtree for £10 It's lightweight so I can store it on drop down bed when not in use and can also use it outside.

Haha table removing r us!
If the manufacturers would just think you only use the table for meals or the 2 occasions a year you play games ...its mainly a lounge area ...tables get in the way lol

Mine is in my mum's attic ...must weigh about 50 kg

Thought I'd fixed my bike but it's not :(

The chain keeps jumping I thing the cogs on the derailer are worn and it's driving me nuts

Luckily there's a decathlon here.

I didnae know you stayed in lorca I was trying to park there yesterday bit it was mobbed that's how I ended up in aguilas.
I could have met to say hello ...bit I'll likely be back there in a week or so when it's hopefully quieter.

Yes I live behind the commercial centre & on way to Águilas. You are welcome to park up here now the easter guests have gone.
& yes Easter is a nightmare here. Between 4 & 500,000 visitors descend on the place.
Not sure how you’d get one in Spain though?
I looked everywhere for the non-spill bowls . Had to get mine in the Uk I've a spare you can have.
Chinese up the road has hundreds of different dog water & food bowls & still have no non-spill.

..im hoping I can still do that with jade. I
But you'll be oustdie in the smoking area.
Remember as well that dogs are not allowed on buses /trains here.Although they can fly in the cabin on internal & inter EU (Not UK) flights.Work that one out ?

.gonna have to get a runner or something

Chinese shops normally keep a dozen different `patterns. Up the road does as I've bought it there.

Cool. .as I say didn't get a chance to see lorca or indeed all of aguilas as it was a flying visit so I'll be back there in a week or so.

I tend to sit outside in restaurants most of the time here anyway as I like the sun :)

Big Chinese bazaar here so I'll see what I can get tomorrow ....one if those bowls would be handy .

Yeah what is it with mh manufacturers that think everyone wants to live in a dining room all the time. The original table for this van is ridiculously big and completely dominates the van it was the first thing I removed the only problem is that yiur left with this on the floor View attachment 222312

I did have it covered with a carpet but now I'm getting the pup i think it's best to remove the carpet but now this ugly channel is on show and gathers all the crumbs and dust ...gonna have to get a runner or something

Most of those rubber backed hall runners, called dirt trappers, are washable. I have three in our camper as I don’t like the feel of sandy grit that you get on bare feet if there is just the laminate floor. However much I sweep the van out I can still feel it, although I do know I have very sensitive soles (and a sensitive soul:))
You can cut them to fit with scissors too.

I’m surprised @gus-lopez that dogs not allowed on buses and trains, so many people seem to have pet dogs in Spain.
We certainly saw dogs on the metro in Barcelona.

I've not been on a bus or train since getting here either so I'm not too bothered about that. I use my bike or my scooter to get anywhere I don't walk to.

I swept out franky and washed the floor this morning and within 20 mins there's grit and crumbs ...despite taking my shoes off at the door ..i think it's just impossible to avoid it.

I liked the carpet in the colder months but it was a nightmare to keep clean as it was beige.

A carpet runner will be the answer if I can get one in the bazaar tomorrow.

Gonna be an expensive day tomorrow between bike, carpet and puppy stuff
I might have to go busking

I forgot to say Tam, I’m dubious of puppy training pads, I’ve had dogs all my life and never used them because I think it confuses them into thinking it’s ok to wee and poo inside.
As she’s a rescue she may be harder to train...

Far better to keep a really watchful eye and keep taking her outside so she knows that’s where she goes. A gentle “no! Wee wees outside” if she has any accidents inside and carry her straight out even mid stream if nessesary! However, if she has accidents inside that you miss, simply clean it up and ignore it.

Positive reward for the behaviour you want and expect is far better in my humble opinion than negative telling off for unwanted behaviour.

Also don’t forget 5 mins per month of age walking per day to protect her bones so at 3 months only 15mins. This rule isn’t quite as important for small breeds as they develop quicker. She should be sleeping for around 18 hours a day too.

Very common for puppies to get over tired and go a bit mental...that’s where popping her into the crate covered with a blanket works wonders.

Good luck and I’ll shut up now! It’s only because we’ve recently been through it all with Mills who obviously is now the best trained dog in Wales.....not o_O

It varies from region to regison & area to area . I know that here they don't allow it & in Murcia city they have had a petition going to try & get the council /operators to change the rules.

I had an American family stay here who were doing that all around Spain.

I bet they could play the instrument though

I'm like a cat scratching it's claws down a blackboard I just can't get it lol

Can't read music which doesn't help

Sorry Tam. Much as I hope you and the dog enjoy each others company I am bored stiff with all the doggy stuff. If your thread ever gets back to the way it was I'll be more than happy. No doubt I'm a miserable old whatsit but that's my opinion. And it's your thread not mine.

How was it ?

Is just a thread following my travels .....but as I'm in the one place till I collect my pup on Tuesday and I've already posted pics of what there is around here then at the minute the thread is kinda just a blether.

Personally I find all the responses interesting and as the pup will very much be part of my travels here on in its unavoidable to be discussing it

So sorry your bored but can't really help that

Exactly, it’s a thread about your travels and Jade is now a big part of that.

I mentioned the doggie carrier rucksack earlier in the thread. I didn't like to say that she's too young to run alongside your bike... I know that's your aim but you won't be able to do that until she's fully grown.

It may be worthwhile adding said item to your already lengthy doggie shopping list! :D

Oh and I'm enjoying your travel thread - puppy talk and all :)

Yeah I'd always known she won't run alongside the bike for long ...thats why I was thinking of the basket on the bike.

Won't know if a rucksack will work till I see how big she gets.

Like this? Daughter in India with Charlie as a pup! She picked him up from the roadside with a broken back and carried him around until mended and then brought him home. She was a volunteer vet in a clinic there and she picked him up expecting to euthanise him. It didn’t happen. Now 14 years later!

P.s. I was not informed about the scooter or the dog until too late for me to do anything about it!

Find a length of clear plastic pipe that will just squish into it.

Then if you're daft enough you could thread LED strip through the pipe & make a feature of it.
