Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Great stuff Tam, glad your feeling a bit better today, I was thinking it could be the water your drinking that caused the problem?, hope your on the safer bottled stuff?
If that shoe factory makes Crocs, please burn it down, we have suffered enough, even though I know your a fan, but really Tam....... Crocs and torn jeans, isnt that a fashion paradox?:D
Have fun
Les

Glad you're feeling better. I'm enjoying your tour and photos so please keep them coming. If you're travelling inland past Albacete the Riopar area is worth a visit with Stunning natural scenery. Further along make sure you take in the Sierra Nevada, its heartbreakingly beautiful.

I do notice I sometimes get strange looks from locals but I figure that's the tattoos as they are certainly not as common here. But other than that nothing out the ordinary.

far more common down here . & that's the women !

Well I left novelda this morning drove to peterer ....the castle is by tour guide only and I didn't get near it so a photo from the road was the best I got there.
I then went to villena and had a cycle around the town went up the castle there which has been fully restored and looks good ...but a nightmare to get good photos of it lol but I tried and I got a couple of a few interesting bits round town ...then back to franky for lunch ......and I fell asleep lol ...so I left villena about 4pm and drove up to almansa because ....yeah you guessed it there's another nice castle up here ...what can I say I like castles lol . So I've just arrived and although there is an aire here it's mostly a service aire which you can park on overnight but it's in the bays for dump and fill and right next to a noisy road ....so I've found a quiet spot on the outskirts of town for the night and I'll go in to town on the bike or scooter to see the castle
Can't decide to do that now or In morning so will have a coffee while I decide

So here's the pics from villena

See I seem to go to see things at siesta time and everyone is hiding.
It's quite eery sometimes ....the busy tourist places there are always people but these wee towns are like ghost towns 2 -4

Just wanderin Tam....Did they pull the draw bridge up when they saw your Tattoos?:LOL::LOL: yea, that would spook me too seeing all the streets so empty, not even a stray cat in your pictures this time.
I wonder if siestas would ever catch on in The UK, I think I could, along with most MH, owners, easily handle it if they did...come to think of I am ready for a wee siesta right now:)
Thanks for sending out the pics, although better today, the sunshine is what we are all missing back home.:( now I am off to Google maps to see where you are today, and where you are going.
Thanks again.

I've spoke to a lot of people in Spain who think the siestas are a bad thing and need to come to an end. I can see why really ..its a long working day some do 7 till 2 then 4 till 8 or 9
And then there's lots who have a liquid lunch ...ive always noticed the driving gets worse after 4 lol ...only today there was a guy in front of me drifting all over the road.

The few times I've fell asleep in the afternoon I end up feeling lethargic all day lol

My weather app tried to tell me it was 8° today which was nonsense I was in a t shirt all day and it was warm ...id have guessed around 18° myself and even now with the sun going down it's still pleasant outside

At this minute im being entertained watching a guy going through all the public bins scavenging.
Now if say he isn't poor or anything as he's driving a fairly new vw Passat ....but what he's pulled out these bins is unreal ....2 bags of something a couple of deckchairs and believe it or not a car door ...that he's having some trouble getting in his car lol ......scrub that he's given up on the door now lol as it won't fit ha ha

Tam, no doubt the detail may be somewhere in this thread , but what camera are you using for taking the pics of your travels
.

Thanks for that Tam . To me ,your pics being consistently clear and sharp , I just assumed you were using a brand name camera .
There might be hope for me yet then , using my Moto G5 .

Well it started off as a rainy morning today , got up cycled in to town to visit the castle ....and it's closed for renovation :( they might wanna update their website the sods.
Anyway I grabbed a few pics of it that I coukd get from outside and of a few other interesting buildings then headed back to the van. Found the repsol station filled up on gas and diesel then round to the aire to drop waste etc.
I then headed out of almansa on the cm320 to yecla and on to jumilla where I've just arrived. No aire or anything here but nice enough wee town ....with guess what :D
And the sun is out now. ...found a decent sized bit of waste ground on the edge of town to park up for now while I go explore.
This castle is closed only open weekends I think but I can go explore the outside if I can get up to it as it looks a fair hike

Found a way up to the castle on the scooter. Saved my legs ...but I may take a hike back up later as there is a walk up there. Jumilla is an interesting wee town ....i seem to stick out like a sore thumb as getting lots of strange looks today ha ha.

Well after lunch I thought I'd go exploring some more on the scooter ....theres some mountains behind me that looked nice and green so thought I'd go take a peek ...and in the process I stumbled across the "Monestary de Santa ana " what a fantastic setting in the hills and woods surrounded by nature and is really lovely . Well worth a visit if your in the area opportunity to park a motorhome up there too ( But keep that quiet) enjoy the pics

Have you done any "visiting" yet?
Of you mean the winery not yet
There's one just along the road but I'm considering spending the weekend here so plenty time ha ha

great pics , there is so much to see inland spain.
you really could spend the rest of your life seeing it and not getting bored . mind mid summer and you will know why they sleep in the afternoon.
always amazes me so many stick to the motorways yet every road as a story to tell. every village tells another story and the village people are so friendly.
carry on as you are and have possibly the greatest time of your life .
i love it just traveling around inland spain .
or just hugging the coast .
both different depends what you like . i like both .
but inland is another world .
have fun .

i dont know how many of you have read any of bernard cornwells sharpes books ,dare say you remember the tv prog. but as you travel inland spain if you have read the books the names come up and it really makes you think they were walking.marching . if lucky on horse back . but it makes interesting travel trying to follow where they went in the books .
another good trip is following the don quijote routes . takes you to places you would never have gone .
all make good reading as well.

Think I'm in the middle of the wild West tonight all I can hear is drums banging ha ha

I've read all the books and still marvel at how the troops traversed this land on foot.
