Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Had a wee saunter up that hill at the back of the church ( too long winded name) ...couldnt see a way up at first so in true Scottish fashion I just scaled up the front of it ....took me about an hour with a few stops to appreciate the view ( otherwise known as I was gasping for breath ) ....of course when you get to the top there's the benefit of finding the proper path to follow back down ha ha.
I'm knackered now but that's partly due to not feeling the best when I got up this morning ...im sure my bowels wait till I've just cleaned out the cassette before reaking havoc cause I've had a dicky stomach since.
So now I'm back in franky had a drink of juice and I'm gonna go have a couple of hours sleep as I really feel I'm gonna throw up.

Theres more cats now I can see 6 different ones :)

As I said earlier on here (or maybe on another thread) there are thousands of places to wild park in Spain if you go inland, or off the beaten track and don't join the "sheep on the beach" contingent.

Loving your trip, especially around our old haunts!

In the fifth picture down, the one below your selfie, there looks to be quite a lot of agriculture. Neat rows and the one nearest to you might have glass or some sort of building in the corner of the plot. Any idea of what they're growing?

As I suffer from "Adventure Envy",:crying1: any more of these photos or "look where I am" shots, I'm putting you on my ignore list.

;);)

when i was a kid traveling spain with my parents ,my dad through a map of spain at us and says there is only 5 main routes north and south in spain . lets see if we can find 50 others .
there is loads more but i dont think i have done the first 50 ways yet.
some are so nice that years later you know where you are and just have to take an old route just see if its changed .
last year met a man that used to knock around with my two lads 30 yrs ago. he now runs his old dads bar .
the dad has died but he remembered us even knew my lads names . seems they got so little tourists in his village ever stop . we did and thats how the lads met up. we ended staying there a week or so . did go back a year later , and again the lads met up.
but forget main roads use a map and a compass much more fun.

Nice pictures Tam,scrabbling up a mountain hillside then finding the path is just what would happen to me. I remember years & years ago with a bunch of mates on the Isle Of Skye, OS map showed loch on top of hill to catch some brown trout. We parked the cars up, grabbed all the fishing gear, wellies/wadders on, and trecked up a steep hillside beside the road, when we reached the top there was another valley to walk down & up, we were sinking into the boggy marsh nearly losing our wellies, we got to the top the other side only to find another valley:eek: All of us knackered by now, but we made it down & Up the other side to find the lake which was beautiful. Set the rods up, started casting, sky clouds being mirrored on lake surface........only to find fishermen on the other side of the loch, pitched up with their cars parked behind them!!!! We felt sickened as we knew we had another two hour plus treck through the valleys back to the cars. But we did catch some trout which were fantastic.
Hope your belly gets better soon, try some porridge oats for your breakfast that will sort you out! dont forget plenty of salt on it :D

Oh I'm afraid my agricultural knowledge isn't that great lol but if it's the part I think your talking about there's a pretty newish concrete building in the corner.

Well I've decided just to stop over here for the night as I really don't feel very well , trying to think what I ate yesterday that hasn't agreed with me but no idea ....but whatever it is I'm not feeling great , burning up and stomachs not great. Hopefully whatever it is passes quick. Don't wanna drive when feeling lousy so best to stopover have an early night and hopefully feel better tomorrow.

Not looking forward to emptying this cassette I'll tell ya.

nice and liquid makes it quick to empty

reminds me of that song

it shoots from your bum
like a bullet from a gun
diarrhoea diarrhoea

some people think its funny
but it's all wet and runny
diarrhoea diarrhoea

etc etc

Not just me then, off on the Ferry on Monday, the boss said to me this morning "what you going to be ill with this time".:(

Tam,
I find the best cure for the guts is to drink Coca Cola, full fizzy, full fat! It’s probably too late for that other well known cure...port and brandy 50/50,but it would be fun finding out if that’s in time to help.
But...Doctor..I ain’t!!!
But certainly lots of water,as Im sure you know.

Changing the topic to a marginally more pleasant one... (and any tablet containing Loperamide Hydrochloride, which is the active ingredient in Imodium and some other over-the-counter medications, works wonders to stop the other topic.....)

As a mid-40's couple with 3 young kids, we've found that arriving at Aires in France we tend to lower the average age of the residents considerably! A few times we've had lots of curtain twitching and suspicious looks from the other residents, who have been exclusively retired couples aged 70+ and not from the UK.

It's not down to the kids making a noise - we only use aires as overnight transit stops, so we tend to turn up late and it's cook dinner then straight to bed.

Tam, arriving on your own and younger than many MH residents, do you get similar looks of suspicion from others?

Maybe it's the skull & crossbones we've got painted all over our van and my Union Jack facial tattoos, come to think of it..... ;)

I'm not sure of the thoughts I get ...usually the first thing i get is "are you in that big van yourself?" In hindsight they are correct i could have managed in a much smaller van.

I do notice I sometimes get strange looks from locals but I figure that's the tattoos as they are certainly not as common here. But other than that nothing out the ordinary.

Morning folks ....feeling a lot better this morning skipped dinner last night and had an early night must have needed it as I slept right through till 9 this morning.

Lovely sunny morning little breeze but it's warm thankfully.
So I'm gonna amble back to elda/petrer a few miles up the road as I spotted a castle there yesterday on my way here. Looking at Google there isn't much else of interest there apart from the shoe museum as Elda is apparently famous for shoes ( one for the ladies perhaps) despite it being a massive population ...but I will have a looksee
