That's a bummer Tam, but it could have been loads worse. Am sure once the rain stops n the suns out & the food's been eaten you will feel ok again.

Yes I think maybe some forget I'm from Scotland and I've had this van on roads that are often described as impassable. To be honest I found the drive up there very easy ....nothing like the roads in the north of Scotland lol. I'm heading to visit the fountains of algar now but that road is a little tight looking on Google earth so I've parked franky at the cemetery outside callosa and I'll take the scooter down I think.Lovely photos Tam, That "Dodgy" road up there wasn't as bad as some mentioned then, so it was well worth it. The Red car in the museum is a Renault A110 1600 CC twin webber 45DCOE,s, a Swiss mate had one, his brother also, they are getting rare now, with astonishing prices to match, what an experience that was years ago thrashing it through the Alps.
Somehow, despite invitations, I dont think The Beni Lifestyle is gonna suit you, you are wild hunter never to be tamed, keep it that way.
All the best
Les
Yes I think I picked a good year to do this...that warehouse I worked in would be torture just now ....have been warning my mother not to leave the house afyer I saw this. ...as she lives in dunfermline right in the middle.Great pic just making me want to be away from this very cold weather here in Scotland

It was there but closed ...i parked the van at the cemetery and took the scooter down ...unfortuntaley the entrance to the fountains was closed despite it saying 8pmThe fountains are one of my favourite place to visit in Spain.
When I was last there we did take a pretty large, 7 berth coach built and parked it okay, paid in a restaurant to park if I recall. And there used to be a picnic stop/aire if you carry on past the falls, up another hill and round the corner. We stopped there a number of times, very quiet, you might find it’s still there.

So I gave up
Well "el castel de guadalest" is well worth a visit ...what a lovely wee town and breathtaking scenery around it. I didn't go inside the castle on this occasion as I've been in a few of late and I think I'm a little castled out for now but got some pics of the outside and the views View attachment 216057 View attachment 216058 View attachment 216060 View attachment 216061 View attachment 216062 View attachment 216063 View attachment 216064 View attachment 216065 View attachment 216066
I love the Bultaco’s, I had a 250 Sherpa like the red one on the left of the second museum photos.
When we lived at Villajoyosa the track around the reservoir below Guadalest was a nice 10km training run!
It makes a nice walk if you're feeling in need of exercise.
Good luck, mind the two up mobility scootersI've arrived in Benidorm.....may the gods be kind.
First impression it's like any British city...but I am on the outskirts....mcdonalds, kfc everywhere.
Gonna dig out the scooter and go see the bit down by the beach etc.
Villajoyosa looks nice
That's where I've just pulled in to ...much nicer so here's hoping you can overnight here. Only two other vans here just nowVillajoyosa is so much nicer than Benidorm in my opinion. Tam if you go to Villajoyosa go to the old town bit with all the loverly painted fisherman’s cottages.Theres a car park right down on the sea front, if your looking out to see on your right. Have seen folks free camping in there before. Don’t know if they get moved on. If you want a campsite in that area camping imperium is nice.
Aye I've no doubt the nightlife is probably good and when it's warm any beach is good.It is what it is. Spain it ain't. But its good fun and cheap as chips.
If you want to meet some funsters there's a standing date at the bar at la toretta campsite by the benidorm Palace every day at 4
It does say " day Only" on the park4night link.So im parked up here at the minute . ...not sure if I can overnight yet but I'm gonna try if the police don't tell me otherwise.
It's quite nice along the front with some nice wee restaurants so might have dinner out tonight will see.View attachment 216348 View attachment 216349 View attachment 216350 View attachment 216351
Aye but in the comments there's a few have stayed over and the French van that's here stayed the last 2 nights so will see. There's only myself and one other camper here so it should be okay.It does say " day Only" on the park4night link.
Is that left facing the sea or left facing the town?Tam if you walk from that carpark to your left along the coast then you come to some scrub land, go up and over that, loads of tracks and a couple old ruins up there. It’s a nice walk.
Cool will take a look at thatTry the saturday market at the top of the town just along from the tram stop, it's in a big car park very good for fruit & veg you will like that, lots to see
Have seen vans parked overnight in the car park you are on
