Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Is Jade going to be OK with fireworks?
I think so ...she wasnt too fussed about them in spain during san juan etc and we were parked right next to them.

Id like to continue having her used to them now while shes still a puppy ...
Theres not much she's scared of at the minute and I'd like to try and keep it that way .

That's a good thing to do Tam. Our dog hates fireworks and barks constantly at them - he gets himself into a right state...

I think he sees them as a threat to us and rightly wants to defend us from them... We've tried everything - nothing works. Last New Year we were in the French Alps and I spent a good part of it cupping my hands round his ears to try a shield him from the worst of the noise - because of the mountains it sounded like gunshot ricocheting - it was a PITA.

You will find a weigh bridge down at Rosyth Docks for £10
Van looks beautiful
I went there when we first got our van but they only do ...... or did anyway ...... weigh the whole van rather than axle by axle. :)

Isn't there a vosa one anywhere near you? There is one local to me that you can use for free 24x7 for free, not that the 600 odd mile drive would make that one very cost effective for you!

Thanks ...once i have it all loaded up ill go do that so i know where im at weight wise.

Hoping to get away next weekend if tax is sorted out ...failing that ive been invited to a bonfire firework party in east lothian on the 4th and its at a friends farm so ill stay over there with it :)
Sounds good Jade is used to fireworks after Spain!!
Hope Mum is still doing well.

I'm sure there will be one somewhere I'll do a Google search when ready to go

Must be the one 2 miles from me.:)

Tam, I’m really jealous of your van!
That 'carpet' trim you’ve done as well looks a treat & doesn’t look at all out of place!
Are you sleeping in the van, if so how’s the fixed bed-comfortable?

It turned out well thankfully I just finished the other side last night so that bits all done now.
Doing another little job with it later that I'll post pics of this afternoon.
Not been sleeping in it yet as still sorting all my stuff out so it's been easier to stay in the house. I've been doing a roaring trade on gumtree though ha ha getting lots sold of
It's quite liberating.

Although I've not slept in it yet the mattress does seem very comfortable as I've had a few like downs In it , it is quite narrow especially at the bottom but no narrower than beds I had in vw campers etc back in the day so for just me and the occasional ( hopefully not that occasional lol ) company it should be absolutely fine.

But I don't have to climb in to it and can sit up in it with ease so that's what I wanted.

Handy if there's one near you - So long as they don't prosecute you if you're overweight!!

Tam, you asked if I had had my van weighed.
My B654 (2007) is plated MGW 4000, front 2100, rear 2400. Soon after getting it I had it weighed when fully loaded for going away (wife also on board, full diesel, two gas bottles, spare wheel, 50lts water, two Lafuma chairs, two bikes on back) and the figures came in at 3900, 1900 (f), and 2000 (r). I have never had it weighed unloaded, so not sure of actual payload.
A year or so later I had some uprated (heavy duty) front springs fitted due to being low at the front and hitting the bump stops. I had this done at Goldsmitts at Polch in Germany and they provided me with the paperwork to upgrade to MGW 4500, 2300, 2600. The new springs lifted the front up by 70mm. The new payload then gave me the necessary capacity to later take my son and his wife and two more bikes (three on rack and one in garage with wheels removed) to France. At the time my tyres (16inch) were the originals and ok for the increased loading, but I have since changed to a heavier load carrying tyre.
My engine is the 3ltr manual, so some weight increase on your 2.8JTD.
Hope the above is useful to you. Enjoy your new motor, you have done a brilliant job so far on it. Can’t understand it when a seller doesn’t present a vehicle, or anything else, for sale. Good that he didn’t, as if he had then it would have sold long before you came along.
David.

Tam, did I post about removing the mattress from the drop down bed?
We think if we had a fixed bed we would probably do that then use the area for lightweight clothing/bedding or ?

We have done exactly that and find the extra dry, warm space brilliant for clothes, spare bedding, towels etc. :)

Tam

I do not think Jade would make a good gun dog as with those fangs she does not have a 'soft' mouth and as for speed? what is the hurry when the bird is dead - a good nose is more important.;):D
She's got a great nose too lol

So my latest little project :)
As the tv has been relocated it left the old tv cabinet bare and quite a mess from the previous diy nightmare owner

So I gave it a makeover....Not sure what I'll use it for yet but it's a handy space and a lot nicer now

I managed to get a Whirlpool microwave oven in my identical cupboard. It was the only one I could find with the buttons underneath rather to the side. Very useful when on ehu.

Take items out if overweight i'm sure the withy patch gypsy's will remove

Depends if you intend coming back for them!!

They are getting a nice upgraded new site when the Ikea development happens.
