Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

The only thing I can see is the black side strip.
As an aside is the rubber around the rear wheel arch all there? looks like some missing ?

Well a few interesting guesses lol but most folk spotted it .
The black rubber seal that was discoloured and faded has been repainted black to match the seals around wheel arches.

@gus-lopez none missing ...just the design of it there's a grey bit plastic at each side of the seal before it joins the locker panels

Thought you had removed towball and put a bracket in it's place - re-looked bloody paving slab

Tam, did I post about removing the mattress from the drop down bed?
We think if we had a fixed bed we would probably do that then use the area for lightweight clothing/bedding or ?

I've managed to store towels , spare bedding and some blankets up there with the mattress still in place

Tam what paint did you use, looks good.

I masked it up and used black smoothrite :p
Sticks like poop to a blanket so it did the trick.
I had a tin as I plan to give the rear chassis rails and the rear under floor a good coat of it too

Well some helpful person on faceache helped me out with the hymer weight so I've apparently 725kg payload which isn't too shabby
That is probably the MIRO, from that you will need to deduct fitted extras such as comfort pack which includes driver's door etc probably 150kg to come off.

We can too in our N+B Arto, with the ladder up there too.

Tam, your van and your choice of course, but I'm always wary of using smoothrite or similar underneath too much, especially on chassis members. Partly because if broken through it can trap water behind and cause hidden rust, a bit like old-fashioned underseal used to, and partly because it's a way of an owner hiding problems that I'd be a bit suspicious of if I came to view a van that had had it done.

Dinitrol 4941 is a spray that leaves a black, waxy, rust-inhibiting layer on top - a bit like Waxoyl but much better, this is a thick black film that doesn't come off and covers like paint - to a certain extent it's self-healing, but it can be touched up easily if need be. It's made for the job, and anyone inspecting the van can easily scrape a bit back if they want to check underneath. Filthy stuff to apply though, cover your drive and wear clothes that can go in the bin!

You can see what it looks like on my van in this old thread - the new bracket in the pictures that I made was painted with smoothrite (since overcoated with Dinitrol) but the chassis around it is all Dinitrol'd over the original Fiat paint, after cleaning it with a wire brush first.

I dinnae have a drivers door just a passenger one.

So today's tinkering

The previous owner had siliconed. .Yes siliconed some rather naff blue carpet to the panel that sits alongside front sofa and backs on to kitchen ...he had given the seat back panels the same treatment.
The carpet was crap it was fraying at the edges and hadn't been cut properly

So I wanted to remove it and would have liked just to leave the plain original wood panel .
But due to the amount of silicone he had used and the numerous screwholes he's put in panel it was a right mess

Here's with carpet removed

Took me over 3 hours to get all that silicone off the other day :(

Panel was a mess so I had a cunning idea

And now it looks like this

I also replaced his home made tv bracket with a proper one so now the tv can be viewed comfortably from the lounge and the bed :)

Looks much better and should be a little cossier.

I guess he wasn't a carpet fitter by trade!

Have you got the leisure batteries working ok. Are they under the cab seats like mine ?
So difficult to get to them (n)
They seem to be working fine ...not been Below 13.3 volts so far and back up to 100% by 12 noon each day so solar is working okay too.
Mine are in the front locker behind the n/s front wheel
