Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

stripped out the material covering inside of rear cupboards and it's the original Styrofoam stuff behind them it's just the cloth that's been changed. But it's definately been to gain access to the rear brake light and possibly a camera as the wires are right there behind it.
Nice one. Just makes you wonder when someone cannot be bothered to finish the job with a decent covering ?

Looks a great van now Tam,,,,BUSBY,,

To be honest it's actually not too bad when stuck in place. Ideally replacement hardboard would look better bit you couldn't do that without removing the cupboard which if I can I will do

Having seen the before and after pictures are you free this week . I could get there easily from Glasgow , and come back for van next day:D. Need to be soon though, in case you get a job:D.
If you enjoy the van half as much as Frankie you're a lucky laddie.
John

Looks brilliant inside now Tam!
You wouldn't like to pop out and do my van would you? It's only had to moulting collies and an old callioch living in it for the best part of two years .

Nice photos Tam!

I'm often surprised at the dreadful photos people post when advertising things.

Glad to hear that you're pleased with your new vehicle.

good idea, Lot of money in valeting. Tam Tam, if you need a business partner(y)
John
I was once a car valeter ...I lasted two years lol.

But there is good money in it if you get a good customer base.

I'm almost tempted to readvertise it lol and see how quick I could sell it :p
Even his description was poor he didn't lost half the stuff
I didn't know it had cruise control and air conditioning till I drove it home lol

If the outside comes up as nice I'll be very happy.

Tam that van is a credit to you-how it looks inside now!
The ‘hardboard’ inside the rear cupboards bends from the bottom of the cupboard rear to the top front!
What a silly place for an oven tho you are tall enough to use safely.
I think you’ve got a good’un there!

Looking good, has it still got the tube in the kitchen light, I removed all the control gear and stuck some LED strip in place of tube and got a much better light.

Yes a much better light and less power to run it!

Definitely the type of layout I will be going for next. I really do have van envy :notworthy: Hope it's not too long before you get out on the road again

Tam I think you had a bargain there, it's looking so much better already.

Looking at the photos, the wires don’t look big enough, if they have used blue connectors. Just my thoughts.
Agree cables way undersize.

Whoooosh

That's the sound of that going over my head

Mechanic yes

Electrical haven't a clue lol
Two ways to fill a bucket slowly: turn the tap on and off quickly is one way. So the water flows at full speed or not at all. If you make the time the tap is off longer than the time it's on the bucket will fill even more slowly. You're 'modulating' the flow by altering the length of each pulse of water. Pulse Width Modulation. The fella with his hand on the tap is an on or off (digital) switch. The second way to regulate the flow is to turn tap and leave it with the water running at the speed you want - that's analogue

A PWM regulator works exactly like that. It switches the supply from the panel on and off and varies the ratio of on to off time. Some additional cleverness ensures that the battery sees a relatively smooth supply.

No that is burnt. over heated .you can tell by the discolouration of the blue shroud & also the white sleeve of the controller compared to the rest. Looks like the solar panel neutral ?

Definitely burnt!

The crimping is poor with wire exposed on two of the connectors and the burnt one seems to be only partially crimped (which may be why it is discoloured if the high resistance in the poor connection is overheating)

At the very least recrimp the burnt one or better still check on the wire diameter and ensure it is "man enough" for the job and replace if necessary!

But at least there's no water in there and no sign of there ever being water so I'll just refix the lining and I'll sort the light etc from outside on a dry day so it doesn't give future problems

An excellent result. If you need to know in future there's a very good chance that the wiring for the camera will travel round to the left (as you look into the cupboard), behind the fridge then behind the control panel that's over the door.

Looks like you’ve got a great van there..........hope you have lots of great times . I guess this ones a keeper.

I actually really like the oven up there as I can see in it without bending down :)

Yes still got the tube in it and it works too but there's also an led strip light been fitted under there so I have both :)

I didn't know it had cruise control and air conditioning till I drove it home lol

When I bought mine I asked if it had cab aircon - the (mechanically clueless) owner laughed, "No chance, open the window! I boiled driving last summer." Then I spotted what looked rather like an aircon button to me - and whilst crawling underneath, finding out that a CV gaitor was split and it needed a new exhaust header and generally finding bits to push the price down with, I spotted a compressor and a/c pipes.... :D

I didn't mention it, might have compromised my haggling!

I wouldn't want a vehicle for any long journey without a/c now, I've got spoilt, I hate being hot! Aircon needed a new pressure switch and a regas, and in truth the X244 aircon is not the strongest, but it's still much better than nothing. If yours needs regassing from lack of use, get whoever does it to put UV dye in - a cheap UV torch for a few quid from China on Ebay and it makes finding any leaks dead easy if you wait until it's dark.

Tam, you have a garage under the bed or just a big locker? Same size as the bed?
Is bed a true double or a 3/4?
There's a big locker under the bed but it's a very big locker so lots of storage.

I've not measured it but I don't think it's quite a full double. I'll measure it tomorrow.

Cameras been removed from up there now ..theres one under the bike rack and wire comes in to the locker/garage under the bed but not sure if it's connected ad no monitor other than the flip out dvd player thing

Think I'm going to remove and replace both controllers with a better one like lenny suggested. But need to check original solar panel when on roof to see if it's wired up as didn't see cables for it.
