Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Listen I'm one bloke who's life's already being taken over by a demanding female ( jade)
I need back up

Moody, expensive, awkward at times, stubborn, intransigent and only shift when they want to. Choose a gender.

Just as well the number plate wasn't LGT 54 then eh?
Les

Well I've picked her up and on my way back to m6 weather is horrendous windy and raining and roads covered in debri
So initial thoughts

I like the driving position better than Frankie

I like the height adjustable seat

I really like the layout
Good view of road
3 window wipers that's handy
Good heater in cab
Cruise control ...yes

Not many rattles

Chucking with rain and no sign of leaks ha ha

Bad points

Leisure batteries are 0% and despite a charge going in they don't seem to be getting better
Either disconnected or knackered I will look when home

Not as powerful as franky was but I expected that.

Still filthy lol but condition is actually better than I remember so should clean up really well

Other observations.....England is one big bloody traffic jam

Roadworks everywhere

Jades happy

I'm starving

Lets get going:)

I'm hoping if I get all the jobs done and get it up to scratch I'll get a few years use out of it

I'm already loving the smaller size

About same size as my one under 7m cheaper on ferry and easier to park

Dont know how someone dropped that much on price i would of totally ignored offer at that money but being scottish as you said they are tight but almost certainly sell at top money no offence meant

There’s one just down the road from me one owner, full service history 30k on the clock, and only 15 grand. :D2
Only joking Tam looks like you got a good one there, good luck. (y)

Nice looking van I am kinda jealous. Have you had her up to a ton 20 yet? :D2

You have actually got me thinking about getting rid of my old thing and investing in something a bit newer to go travelling when I finally sell my flat (n) We'll see.

Have fun getting to grips with the new van.

Nearly home had to stop at harthill services as jade needed a pee.

So far I really like it ...drives great and much better on fuel than franky was

Also much more comfortable to drive too

Jade also likes it she's even sitting up front which she hated in franky lol

Nice one & looks better in your photo than in the ad.
Yeah I have to say that guy was pretty clueless he missed out half the things it's got in the add I think this has been his first motorhome.

Once I've cleaned it all up and done the few jobs I want to do to it I think it will be a really good van. I've actually got more internal storage in this than I did in franky which is great.

Really liking it now

I can't believe you've managed to get the van you wanted in such a short time!
It took me about 5weeks to find my Hymer B634 and I had to fly to Southampton to pickup.
All the very best for your next adventure.

It took me 2 years to find my N+B Arto, but they are not so 'common' as Hymer.:D

A complete fluke although I did make an over on this van about 2 or 3 weeks ago which was turned down

Time will tell ...there's a lot of features on this I wish franky had
I would be interested to hear what these features are. Welcome to the Hymer owner’s “club”. We have a 2007 B654 (3years old when we bought it) and very pleased with it. My only real gripe with it is the hand basin would be much more practicable if it was oval as this would make it much easier to access the shower. I have contemplated cutting off the front of the basin and sticking on a stainless steel front. I did replace the original table with a smaller square top (managed to get a second hand Hymer top for £50) which gives us a better “lounge area”.
The flush on our toilet has never been brilliant but was improved after I stripped out the swivelling bowl and cleaned out the filter - I fitted an in-line filter in an easily accessible location for future cleaning. You mentioned that the water pump was not too good - you may find that the pump has been wired the wrong way round. I fitted an in-line anti return valve just before the pump as I found (after we had had the van a few years) that the inbuilt valve was not seating properly. I’m sure you will get as much enjoyment out of your Hymer as we have.

I was going to say that as well. Worth swapping wires to try.

Morning
Well it's another yucky rainy day here in Scotland so it will just be a day of washing and cleaning the inside of Toby ( yes I've decided on Toby) as I can't do much on the outside today. But at least if I clean inside I can start moving my stuff back in to it.

Took a couple of photos of the roof from the upstairs window this morning so you can see the state of it and the suspect area I found around the high level brake light which I need to do a better repair on than what's there.

The bigger solar panel was just fitted last year and charges both leisure and engine batteries. The smaller one has been on it a while and only does the leisure ones.
Need to check them and make sure they are all wired up properly etc.

There's a camos wind up sattelite dish ...anyone know if these still work etc i know nothing about sattelite tv. Skylights all look good but that wee vent at the very back above the shower is filthy inside and out but can't see how you take it apart inside to clean it.
At least it has its own ladder so I can get up there when it's dry and give it a good clean :)
