Good to see you are back. I had no internet last night so am just catching up. I am up near Tours at the moment.
Is that Austin an austin or a Spanish one made under licence by a firm begining with C ? If it is then it won't be hydroylastic but air bags+ they also had radiator header tanks.
Garage man up by me has one. I thought he'd modified it but he said that they were standard from new.

It looks to be a genuine Austin 1300 and shows signs of restoration etc

Did they have that on that age ? I remember the hydrolastic mid 80's but I think that was a lot older ...
Yep :) it was hydrolastic , later was Hydragas

The 1300GT was slightly lowered compared with 1100 , by dropping the suspension pressure by about 20psi IIRC My sister had one for a couple of years , I only got rid of my hydrolastic pump about 5 years back , gave it to an enthusiast who had a Austin 1100 and was renovating a Vanden Plas

Cool i wasn't sure, I remember it being on the models in the 80's as I started my apprenticeship with taggarts rover in 1989 and it was all metros maestros etc with lopsided suspension. ..horrible smelly green stuff
I remember rover had just introduced it's 6 year anti corrosion warranty and I think I'm all honesty that was the final nail in their coffin cause they couldn't get past 12 months without some rust appearing

Took jade for a wee walk along the beach this morning and as I'd took a photo of her on the lead I thought I'd compare it to one from the first week I got her to see if the size was apparent so here it is ....i think she's got longer but not so much broader.

Came back from the beach and the herding instinct had happened again .....heres the line of the few vans parked up here .....spot the van trying to become my awning ....this time it's a brit.
Not like they ever chat but boy do some folk like to park close ....theres absolutely oodles of space here too I just don't get it ....why is it always my van they want to cosy up to?

Some people are rubbish at parking, especially when reversing into a parking spot.

@Northernraider maybe it provides a lot of shade compared with the other vans there :)

Your think that would make them want to leave lots of space though ....theres basically 2 foot between my van and his
I was tempted to make a big deal of moving to give him a hint but id only be inconveniencing myself so won't bother but it's very weird

He’s using your van as a wind break.....:ROFLMAO:

It’s usually the French that cosy up..:D2

It's windy near Tarifa. We had a near gale earlier in the week but even today I'm using straps on the awning even though it's only wound out a couple of feet! :) Forecast is breezy for the next couple of weeks.

It's nice down here not even a breeze today but thankfully it's not too hot and just a steady 22°

Radio or cd full blast with windows open at his side . To make sure a few shouts of inane rubbish should drop the hint:).
Great to see you back.

We visited Tarifa in March and at one stage thought we were going to be blown over! and that was on the road above the town before we arrived!!

We didn't stay long!! :cautious:

Cilla black had a place in Estepona and in fact died in her villa there. Just a a bit of useless info. Looks lovely there.

the one the garage man has is original and unrestored and not a sign of any rust. Must be the area and climate here.
I saw that one again today and there was 2 men under the bonnet of it ....not sure if it wasn't starting or not

Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to fix it though - there isn't much under the bonnet. It's a pity they were so rust prone - I think they were well ahead of their time and the hydrolastic (or hydragas) wasn't a bad system. Handling and comfort, compared with their competitors, was excellent. A few simple panelwork changes & they could have been the first hatchback.
