Tam & co the great winter escape

Ok so after our walk this morning i headed to the vet in kyparissia .... obviously i hadn't made an appointment or anything because when i had went to the vet last Wednesday to enquire i didnt know for sure that i would get the dog .

So i went in and the vet was looking over an old dog for this woman who was about 70 ish .... she asked if i could wait a few moments so i was just having a look at all the stuff in the Vets as you do .

I could hear them chatting back and forth in greek but i was suddenly aware the old woman was talking to me ...but in greek , so i said sorry i dont understand ...sge then changed to German and again i said sorry i dont understand....she asked where i was from and i said Scotland ....so then she started talking in perfect English....she said the vet tells me you are adopting a dog ....i said yes thats right , she says can i ask where you found the dog , i said a few miles north of here at elea ...she says oh really which dog is it , i said she's a black and brown hound dog ...she says is she quite young ....and then is it clio? ...i said ah some German people i met on the beach the other day had called her clio ...i said hold on i can show you a photo ... she's in my camper but i was waiting to bring her in as shes a little nervous ....so i showed her the photo and straight away she said yes thats her ...i neutered her a few weeks ago ...i said really ..are you sure , the vet also was not sure ..but i then brought her in and yes it was ela ....so it turns out this woman Diana Hans ..has lived in greece 30 years ...the last 10 years or so her and some friends have been rounding up the strays in the local area ...she has the females neutered etc , treated for fleas and tics and then returns them to where she found them , she knows all the dogs there ...old shep is apparently 17 , the 2 shepherds are a couple they are 15 years old and been together all that time . There was a german guy staying on the beach karl hans who had said he wanted to take ela but was not sure how she would be traveling , so she lent him a crate and he apparently took her away for a few days ... but returned saying she was terrible in the van ...diane had told him he needed to be patient but he didn't want to ( i think this now explains her fear of leaving the van .....which has been much better today ) so anyway she was absolutely delighted that i was taking her ...so much so she was in tears ...she insisted i let her gift ela a harness so she now has a lovely orange harness and her auntie Jackie bought her a matching lead.

So today she had her vaccinations all done and her Chip put in , her passport is all done , i have worming tablets for all 3 dogs and flea and tic treatment for all 3 dogs ....so everything is now done bar her 2nd dhpp vaccine in about 1 months time .

She is not as young as i had guessed ...the vet thinks she is at least 1 year old but less than 2 ....most likely 18 months

So we have given her birthday as the 4th of july 2020 . ....it means she likely will not get much bigger ...she weighs in at 16kg and the vet thinks maybe she is a little thin but says maybe let her gain another 0.5 -1kg no more . She is very very healthy .

So ....im not a religious guy and i dont believe in any god or such stuff ....but diana said it herself ...this was not a coincidence ....we were meant to meet ... something greater than us made ela find me , something made me pick that vet out of the 2 in kyparissia and various other ones , something made me pick today to take her to the vet , something made us both be there at the same time so she could tell me about her , the vet would have had no idea she had been neutered had Diana not told her and had diana not clipped her ear when she had her done ....she clips all the dogs ears that have been treated.

Over the years she has rescued many and rehomed over 100 ....she once drove an estate car to Germany with 17 dogs on board 🤣🤣. She has 10 dogs of her own and sends lots to Germany for adoption.

I think its amazing .....truly amazing ....jackie was astounded and said herself she would not have believed it if she had not been there .

Meanwhile ela has been good as gold all day ...she was totally chilled at the vet , on the drive here to gialova after the vet she lay in the back cuddled up beside milo and never moved ... All i can say is karl hans was useless with dogs .

I do believe in fate and i WAS meant to find this dog .....she caught my eye the first time i saw her ......and i think she was the same .

Oh Tam I have been following your journey avidly, the suspense has been building, Such a heart warming story, you are right this was meant to be.
Ela looks just like a dog my daughter had, an Aussie working dog, sheep, cattle. a Huntaway, he was such a lovely dog very affectionate, very big, frightened the life out of my then new girlfriend when he greeted her with one paw on each shoulder.
Stay safe Tam, happy travels.

Just BRILLIANT! Truly Amazing! I've always said I don't believe in coincidences but this is real "Higher Power" stuff.

Once on a CL a lady in a nearby caravan fed a horse through her open door. (the horse shared the site). She turned away from the door and it stepped inside. Don't think I've ever laughed so much. It wasn't a small horse. 🤣🤣

Love It Yes GIF

Great news Tam, told you Christmas had come early:xThumb:. Oh, by the way, you could make a few quid if Disney get a hold of this story:LOL:
