spot onI did yes ....the language barrier was quite difficult i admit ...but most agreed that being left in the cold and wet , raped mutiple times , left to look after litter after litter of puppies often when starving yourself was not fun , add to that the flea bites, worms and possibility of other nasty diseases , matted fur , sore feet , infected ears etc. Sometimes being attacked by other bigger stronger dogs , shooed and chased away , kids throwing stones and sticks etc .....or a warm bed , new adventures , a full belly twice a day , brushed , petted , excersised and most of all loved
Guess what they said
Im sorry Northernraider I just didn't want this thread to turn into a dog thread because I think everyone knows my opinion of dogs by now so I will keep out of it.Well perhaps you need to look closer. This one is admittedly a happy go lucky pup ...but shes young . Shes also incredibly skinny ...every bone is on display , petting her is like stroking a draining board at present. The other ones , their fur is matted , they have bits chewed off their ears ...the big old black n white one looks like he has arthritis and sore feet . His eyes arent great either .
Its a well known fact a beaten mistreated dog will still often wag its tail and look happy ....but it doesn't mean it is .
They survive ...because they know nothing else. But i challenge anyone who meets my dogs to say they arent deliriously happy content and spoiled
Im curious do you have a dog or ever had one? They all look happy enough to me.
Had working dogs all my life, and consider that's what they are for, as soon as the cows went was when I finished with dogs.Im curious do you have a dog or ever had one?
Thats the thing Charlie this is my travel threadIm sorry Northernraider I just didn't want this thread to turn into a dog thread because I think everyone knows my opinion of dogs by now so I will keep out of it.
But wish you well with whatever you decide, and hope it works out for you.
Can we get back to your travel thread though as soon as we can.
But the dogs are an integral part of his travel and many of us love reading about them and seeing the photosIm sorry Northernraider I just didn't want this thread to turn into a dog thread because I think everyone knows my opinion of dogs by now so I will keep out of it.

Ok fair enough that explains itHad working dogs all my life, and consider that's what they are for, as soon as the cows went was when I finished with dogs.
My first dog as a young boy was exactly the same as that, Floss a border collie bitch . . My parents kept a few chickens and she would round them up just like sheep. As Chaser said it comes natural to them.Thems the ones I had, cleverest things you could ever meet, good ones need hardly any training, amazing what they can do without hardly any training.
But pets , no thanks.
My sister had a border collie too , jades best friend back home is mollie the collie and jackies dog she lost last year was a border collie tooThems the ones I had, cleverest things you could ever meet, good ones need hardly any training, amazing what they can do without hardly any training.
But pets , no thanks.
Your heads gone and your hearts taken over, l a lot of us are hoping that little dog has a brilliant life ahead with you and your furry friend.I am a little

Sat her with my little rescue by my side and just cried my eyes out.Your stray dog's prayer
Dear God, please send me somebody who’ll care!
I’m tired of running, I’m sick with despair.
My body is aching, it’s so racked with pain,
and dear God I pray, as I run in the rain.
That someone will love me and give me a home,
a warm cozy bed and a big juicy bone.
My last owner tied me all day in the yard
sometimes with no water, and God that was hard.
So I chewed my leash, and God I ran away,
to rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
But now God, I’m tired and hungry and cold,
and I’m so afraid that I’ll never grow old.
They’ve chased me with sticks and hit me with stones,
while I run the streets just looking for bones.
I’m not really bad, God, Please help if you can,
or have I become just a “Victim of Man”.
I’m wormy dear God and I’m ridden with fleas,
and all that I want is an Owner to please.
If you find one for me God, I’ll try to be good,
and I won’t chew their shoes and I’ll do as I should.
I’ll love them, protect them and try to obey
when they tell me to sit, to lie down or to stay.
I don’t think I’ll make it too long on my own,
cause I’m getting so weak and I’m so all alone.
Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,
cause I’m so afraid God, that I’m gonna die.
And I’ve got so much love and devotion to give,
that I should be given a new chance to live.
So dear God, please answer my prayer
and send me someone who will REALLY care.
Author unknown unless anyone knows differently.
Well, if it works out he will be on the same count as you ….at the momentHow many though .... at this rate he'll have a van full by the time he gets back to the UK!
Ive absolutely no idea to be honest. Ideally i would like her to come in herself ....eat , get comfortable etc and hopefully spend a night , go for a walk the next day and her to come in again of her own doing before i think about moving ....Interested to know Tam how much time you'll allow for her to get used to being in the van, before you leave? Obviously you won't just slam the door and hijack herGenuine question, I'm invested in this

In my younger days..woke up and thought what the hell when looking at the next pillow in the cold light of dayI would never dare sleep with a strange dog in my van.
Oh food is definitely not the problem .... she is eating plenty . She's just wary of jumping in the van . She doesn't like feeling crowded we had to move the vans yesterday so she didn't feel boxed in ...she seems more relaxed if she senses she can back away unhindered. Its slow process but amazing the difference in her since the first day we were here. She comes when i call her etc ...loves to play and be petted ...loves chasing with jade and milo ...will follow on a walk , when she goes towards others and i call her back she comes . Its only getting a collar around her neck and getting her to jump in the van that we are struggling with ....i think if there wasn't such a high step she'd have been further in by nowCan you try her with some liver or chicken, something high value might help speed up the process.
I was just going to ask that.Has she got a name yet? Apologies if I haven't been paying attention.
Im thinking a horsebox conversion next“Thats the thing Charlie this is my travel threadi like old buildings , beaches , old motors , dogs , donkeys and cake ..”
Now that’s a bit too far…. The vans not big enough for a bloody Donkey…![]()
She has but im nervous about telling everyone just incase i don't get her ....Has she got a name yet? Apologies if I haven't been paying attention.
