Tam & co the great winter escape

OMG you never fail to find roads like that. I laughed out loud at the state of the back of the van and felt sorry for the poor dogs. Glad you got out okay though. Was Jackie behind you?
Poor milo was distraught....2 onions and the dog food tub had also fell out the overhead cupboards before the cushions and his bed had slid off .. even the video doesn't give a true impression of the road ....it was a very steep incline and very deep rutts and potholes

Good test for the van. Increasing the value every day.
Croatia seems to be the country for ivecos ... every van and pick up you see is an iveco theres literally hundreds of them here. Not seen any old ones abandoned by the roadside yet though unfortunately because if i do it will be getting plundered lol

Not such a nice spot for tonight...alongside the waters edge but windy and not that great a view . But will do for tonight. Drove through a couple of nice wee villages on the way but no parking spots .

Not as nice a spot last night but weren't many options around here. I had earmarked a nice looking spot about 10 miles away for tonight but as its cold, dull and very windy today im just going to press on south a bit .

I know its just perception but the photos made me shiver. The Adriatic coast is not like the western med is it. We had our honeymoon in Venice in October. I expected it to be warm. It wasn't. It wasn't just cold it was brass monkeys and we had taken summer clothes.

Go south young man.

I'd doubt it's that bad and certainly a lot better weather than Scotland.
I think you were unlucky to get freezing weather in Venice in October.
I agree we were unlucky. The wind was blowing over the Alps and we could see snow covered mountains in the distance.

About 14° but the wind made it feel colder.

Now down at zadar and its a little warmer but still a bit breezy and dull.

Been mostly a driving day today just following the coast ....only really stopped for lunch . Arrived in zadar about 3.45 ...taken the dogs for a walk along the seafront .

Couple of pics on the way down ...and from near the parking spot here. Spotted a minted fiat 131 ... although its badged up as a fiat brava here

so Tam Northernraider are you going to follow the coast all the way down ( Albania ) or are you going to turn in land and go around it!

PS; had a Bright luminous green FIAT 131 New in the days when squaddies in Germany could buy tax free motors :clap2: it really was an eye catcher and went like stink, but its gearbox was a bag of Nails.

I haven't decided yet if im going to go inland through Montenegro in to Serbia then bulgaria to greece. Or continue down through Albania. Id prefer not to take the same route there as i take home and i think the weather might be better in Bulgaria etc this time of year rather than February. But ill decide once i get to Dubrovnik as i really want some warm sunny weather so i may just do the same route there and back if it means nicer weather. Id like to be in greece the start of December preferably

I used to work in the east of Bulgaria 1 week in 4 for a few years and its more like the arctic in January / February with really cold temperatures.

Zains Pops

Was there something missing from your post - you quoted mine about tides but wrote nothing.
A bit of operator trouble and finger malfunction. However as I have your attention I’ll Ask the query that crossed my mind at the time. If the Adriatic is not tidal, why does Venice have predicted flood times along with height estimates. When we were last there it was shoes and socks off to paddle home to the hotel.

a normal tide in Venice is around 1m however twice a year on the spring tides it is much more than that hence you get wet feet in St Marks sq
