Tam & co the great winter escape

Surprising to me with all theses cookery programs on TV nobody seems to cook anything anymore ?
They must watch while ordering a justest meal
No one has time nowadays. Thanks to progress both parents have full-time jobs and kids are farmed out to minders. Come tea time its all takeaways.

Not sure how many afford it because its rare to do a delivery that's under £30 these days and some customers i deliver to every night im working

Unbelievable what some people spend on takeaways, for us at the Indian one meal deal + one extra curry does us two days with cooking a bit of rice the next day.

Is this the real Lenny or an imposter? With the amount of dosh you spend on food and how much you scoff when away don't believe for one minute you make a curry last 2 days! :giggle:

Yep i agree and £30 is often the cheaper ones. Ive done plenty at anything between 70 and 100 quid.

I couldn't afford it and i expected with the cost of living rises for it to be a lot quieter but its not really.

Had ela mou out for her first walk with her backpack today...i have to say it was the most enjoyable walk ive had since i adopted her ...not 1 bit of pulling or bouncing about ... But that wont last . She's still not overly keen but she did well

Interesting! Maybe it is working like a Thunder Jacket?

Are we going to see the poor dog ending up carrying multiple backpacks to keep her walking like that?

That's on holiday got to treat yourself.
At home a meal for one does both of us.

You can get anything delivered in Hull, even just coffee lol
How on earth do they make it economic ?
I'd have thought the delivery charge would put it beyond worthwhile, but maybe some are prepared to pay for the convenience of, errr, not having to put the kettle on.
Strange times .....

My son in Aberdeen gets an ice cream delivered…. Where I am in Cornwall I get nothing delivered unless I pay at least £6 which on a £10 meal is not Worth it
I just delivered 1 portion of chips earlier £2.70 for the chips £2.50 for delivery and £0.50p service charge.

Some folk are nuts.

Only 3 streets away too

Often the delivery charge is the same or more than the item .

It's quite common.

And its probably the same people moaning they can't pay their bills

The nearest we get to 'takeaway' is that we know a lady who cooks at home as a business and makes nice Pirogi(Pasty parcels filled with meat or cheese or what one orders) we freeze them for quick and easy suppers. Our friends have tasted them and Basia now takes orders for a group and passes them on, then she collects them, no delivery.

Last week we had a Birthday Party for Basia's Mother and Basia ordered a main menu for 7 to be cooked by another lady. That was delivered by the lady herself.

All of which Basia could cook at home, but she has Mother to look after.

All home cooking by individuals. Not 'takeaway' in my estimation.

All the Indians & Chinkys around here it's free delivery orders over £10 to £15.
Us southerners won't pay for delivery.
Its just hidden in the price. They gotta pay the driver.

Im self employed the delivery charge is how i make money. The shop only covers my fuel

I don't think the delivery drivers down here get anything like what you get.

Food prices are reasonable the curry house I took you to charge £13.95 for a starter + main + pilaw rice + side dish & that feeds two of us with some left over.

£13.95 for a starter reasonable? I got sweet and sour chicken balls, fried rice and sesame toast delivered for £13.50 a couple of weeks ago and that from a dearer place than I normally use but was excellent 👍

Now my brain has cleared of Vino you are of course correct, takeaways you get a 10% discount if you collect.

But you know what Lenny's are like, with the meal deal not only do you save around a fiver but you don't get the discount if you collect so free delivery.

One disadvantage, if you go for home delivery is the salad you get with your tandoori mixed starter (after sitting inside the driver's insulated tote bag for twenty minutes) comes out like a hot vegetable side dish !
But you throw the salad away, Indians don't eat salad with their curry, I can't even remember ever seeing a salad in India.:ROFLMAO:
