So i met mike earlier and we got the vet stuff done which was good as id assumed Sunday would be closed. So ela and jade given dhppi booster.

Parked up now for the night. Probably see mike again in the morning.

Now on a different note ive been looking trying to plan ahead my return to blighty and because of this vans mot due 6th April I'd like to be home around the 23rd march .

I planned to get dogs wormed in Germany and then next morning leave Germany drive straight through belgium on to Calais and cross Chanel that evening. Tunnel prices are getting ridiculous. Cheapest is 6am till 8am and that's £140 before i add the 3 dogs on
If i want evening its nearer 200 then 3 dogs on top

So i was looking at ferry instead...am i right in saying the dogs stay in the van?

Also when booking it asks how many pets before it gives price etc and when i do that i can get the ferry for £140 including the dogs ...and that's a 6pm crossing which suits me better.

Ive never had them on chanel ferry before so im unsure if thats all correct ...

Does it sound right?

We found Irish Ferries the cheapest last month. Our 2 dogs stayed in the van for the trip but we were on deck, there are no kennel options or deck options for the dogs as far as I am aware.
I think they add the cost for the dogs after the price for the ferry so its likely they will be extra.

Having checked it with no dogs £94 and with dogs £140 it does seem there's a charge there for them which im assuming is for the passport checks etc ...that is also irish ferries

I have never taken my dogs on any ferry. I was told by others that they have to be locked in the van and you have to leave them alone in there. About 14 years ago a lady I was talking to went back to her van and all of her dogs were dead.

Gina.

We take our dogs on the ferry all the time. They prefer to stay in the van. So would I to be honest! I sometimes feel jealous of them.

What did the 4 digs die of. That sounds very strange and surely nothing to do with the fact they were on a ferry.

Must have been on the Slow Boat to China...

It's an hour and a half crossing! Your not supposed to stay in the vehicle but hey? they don't check anyway. Julie stays with the woofers and I go and eat, then buy whichever perfume she desires at the time. (y)
Oh and this is past experience of hundreds of channel crossings when I had a kip in the wagon on way back to the UK......

Hmmm
Mine have been on a few ferries now but usually ive been with them ...but they have been 9 and 24 hours long. I usually take the tunnel so they aren't alone but the prices are getting ridiculous. Im sure they will be just fine in the van for 90 minutes on their own ..

Im curious as to what her dogs died of sd that's very strange

Yes i did wonder if anyone had stayed in the van ..i mean if i closed the blinds and cab dividing curtain no one would know i was in there ...

We use the cross channel ferry all the time as the cheapest option and your dogs just stay in the van, asleep.( well ours did)
We have a new pup now 5 months old. Crossed from Cairnryne to Larne last weekend, when we got back to the van before unlocking had a quick check and yes see was asleep.
We used to cross out to France with dfds as they did not charge outgoing but charge £30 each coming back.
P+O would charge £15 each way do we just booked the return with them.
I think things are now different.
What we like about the ferry is they usually let you on the next ferry at no extra charge.
