Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Heading through the Lefkas canal, in September. The floating bridge is open, to the side, on the left.

Just for clarification the veg was lettuce , tomatoes, onions , carrots, potatoes, cucumber and peppers , some charcoal and then beer 😉
Didn't think a photo of that was required lol

Lunch was the cheese pasty and donut ...i ate while chatting to a german guy who moved to greece 15 years ago .

One thing is for sure the locals in greece do stop and make conversation with you when passing.

But for some reason everyone thinks im slovenian lol

The sco on the number plates is confusing them ....then when i say Scotland its aaaahhhh whiskey 😁

Elea is a great spot Tam, i''ve no doubt it will be popular but there is plenty of space amongst the trees and as you say there is water and a shower there.
If its not already well known, there is an old building in the corner by the football pitches near the entrance track, should be a break in the fence where you can get through and empty the toilet there. ;)
There is also a dog sanctuary there, so make sure you have room for a few more stowaways. Take some dogfood with you if you can as its all run by volunteers and donations.
Also, if you're partial to a drop of wine then there is a little place in Kakovatos a few kms to the north where you can get good cheap wine if you bring your own receptacle, its on my map. Hopefully it will still be open.

Mythos made under licence from Scottish & Newcastle but brewed in greece, always good there not so here yamas🍻

It always amuses me that because the Greeks drove a canal through the isthmus to Lefkas they call it an island.

On that basis the Corinth canal makes the Peloponese an island.

They do class the Peloponnese as an island.

If its surrounded by water then i guess it is technically an island

And gives them reason to feckin charge you to get to it ...same for Peloponnese
€11 ferry or €20 odd on a bridge.

Starting to think id have been better just getting ferry to patras from italy would have worked out cheaper in the lockrun

Bloody government changing rules every other day ....he said on monday no full lockdown happening ...2 days later and here we are

I think governments are seeing what others are doing and panicking somewhat but only time will tell.

Yep i think so ....i think people worldwide are getting tired of it though as the damage these lockdowns are doing is horrendous.

Yes i crossed that bridge ....this photo is just to the left of it View attachment 438590
Yes that‘s why I posted the picture of us going through it in the boat

We have been told that the islanders have been offered a permanent bridge to replace the floating bridge. However this would result in them being considered as part of the mainland rather than an island. Apparently on islands the VAT rate is 17% whereas on the mainland it’s 24% 😏. They refused.

Where did you get to tonight?

I was rudely awakened this morning by a huge weird insect crawling on me ...about 1.5 inch long with dozens of legs 2 front pincers and a weird tail ...dark brown in colour ...i hastily flicked it off me and now i cant find it which is more concerning as its still in the van somewhere....wild dangerous animals im fine with but I don't like bugs .... I wouldn't say im scared of them i just find them very unpleasant

And having seen a scorpion at that last cove i was parked at i dont want the buggers in the van
No idea what it was

I hope you find it so you can evict it. Until then, I wouldn’t want to walk round barefoot!

It didn't seem to sting as it was on me for a good while before I could reach to flick it as it was on my back ... think it may now have gone in the garage

Morning Tam, those bad boys don't sting but the can give a painful bite with the front pincers if they feel threatened,, favorite hiding place includes shoes/boots etc so give footwear good shake before putting them on ( don't ask how I know ! ) very prevalent this time of year in this region.

Maybe you’ve got bugs growing under your skin, where all those bites are. They weren’t mozzies after all. Now the eggs have hatched and the young bugs are coming out into the world. Welcome to insect hell.:oops: :tmi::tmi::tmi: 👿
Maybe the Greek wine will kill ‘em😂 ;) ;)

Lets not forget the majority of people who get covid recover within a week or 2

So i guess thats a matter of opinion
Think the relatives of over 45000 who didnt recover would disagree with that....I have had flu twice and would not want it again and would imagine Covid is ten times woese,,BUSBY.

Tomatoes are a fruit, typical Scot.

Blimey that's gone up a lot when we were there in 2015 I think the ferry was €7 & the bridge €9.

The problem is ALL over the world people are dying from other things because they arent being treated, not to mention the millions out of work and losing homes and businesses due to restrictions and lockdowns ....for a virus that primarily kills people who are dying from other things

There have been 32 million recovered from covid and only 1.2 million died

Less than flu

In the end you have to make sure the cure isn't worse than the disease

So that is why they dug the canal in the first place.

Gutted to be moving this quick through Greece as im missing loads ...so hopefully this lockdown only lasts this month so i can work my way back up later ...passed lots of beautiful spots but been driving 3 hours today with no stops already ...☹️

But if locked down for 3 weeks id prefer to be near others and folk i can chat to etc
