Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Im feeling a little delicate this morning ...i sat out till 2am with the neighbours drinking wine and roasting chestnuts on the fire ....i feel tre terribleu this morning ...and to make matters worse i have so many mosquito bites its not funny
I've had to take antihistamines to stop scratching

The mossies here dont make a noise so you're not even aware they have been near you unlike the terrifying Apache helicopters in spain and Portugal.

They must have bitten me during the day though when i had shorts on as i was wearing jeans socks and a hoody last night but my waistband ,ankles , behind my knees etc i have around 20 bites in total ☹

We've been experiencing the massive mozzies here! Only had a few bites and they are quite easy to spot like you say!

Its the noise they make there ....i remember going to bed switching off the light and then hearing this really loud buzz go past your ear ...the dogs would run and hide and id jump up putting light on to find and murder the offending insect

But i believe they only buzz after they have bitten you ....so not much help i guess

The funny thing with the wine

Laurent the older french guy who i thought was an engineer and is actually a school teacher ....he had wine from Bordeaux

Renau the younger french guy had wine from italy

Merlin from Nederland's had cheap plastic bottle greek vinegar

I had wine from spain , Portugal and Australia ( weird )

So we were all drinking all the different kinds ......and the Portuguese wine was declared the best of them all .

Someone had also made chocolate courgette cake which was a little weird at first ......but after 3 glasses of wine i had a second......and third piece 🤣🤣🤣

Really clear and moonlit night last night

And we got 2 new neighbours around midnight from Germany who left germany 2 days ago and drove straight down to brindisi italy and got ferry here to escape lockdown in germany ....they work from home on laptops designing solar set ups for private houses so they figured they can do that here ....
Everyone bar the Nederland's couple are heading southbound but they are now heading home

Merlin the Dutch guy owns 4 bars and is struggling because of covid ...they have 50 staff who the government pays 80% of their earnings but he has to cover the other 20% even though he is not making money at present as all the bars are now closed

Seems a different setup from the uk

The Portuguese appear to keep most of their wine for themselves, they produce some absolutely lovely wines you never see outside Portugal.

So you are now a fully qualified Sommelier!

Try rubbing the Greek wine on your bites

No matter how much they itch do not scratch them as this will make it 10x worse and can get infected.

Ive bee pretty busy so have well fallen behind with this thread. ...36 pages to read, well thats my bed time reading sorted for a few nights, ive started working backwards .:)

On second thoughts now I know the latest location Im starting from where I left off.

Yeah in a perfect world ....but telling me not to scratch is like telling milo not to bark

Its impossible ive been scratching all night

The downside to this story is i of course now have no wine left .....not one drop

So i have to buy more

Milo wasn't to keen on swimming in the sea before not sure if it was waves or salt that put him off .... rivers ,lakes etc no problem but not the sea

Well now i cant keep him out of it.....he seems to know his own depth and doesnt go past it but its good he still loves the water.

Jade still will go in and paddle and up to her tummy but you have to coax her with treats to get her to go in enough to swim
Yet if i carry her out a little and then place her in the water she will swim back in woth ease.

Perseverance i guess but i think she would have so much more fun if she joined in chasing things in to the water rather than stealing it from milo after he has recovered it .....causing fights and squabbles between them.

No good taking antihistamine after you have been bitten it takes time build up in your body.
After you have been taking them for a couple of weeks you won't even know you have been bitten.

Tam do you have any ice (wrap it in something first) or a freezer pack thingy you can put on the worst bites. I find this helps and stops you itching them. I believe it takes time for Antihistomines to kick in, apologies if you already know this.

We use “The Executor bug Zapper” sweep the interior before putting lights out works every time in conjunction with a powerful led torch which picks them out. It fries the little bleeders lovely sound when they make contact.

No good if they are biting you outside though which they must have been given their location.

Oh my you wuss, got worse than that in Loch Lomond! ☹️So much so we've wanted to go again and I’ve refused cause of those little blighters. Bearing in mind we’ve also lived near Edinburgh.😁

Oh trust me the photos dont show a tenth of them i have them around my shoulders , back , waist ,thighs, behind knees , ankles and one on my cheek ...ill have to start taking antihistamines daily i think ...

When you get a chance - go to a Greek pharmacy, they may have products formulated for the local bugs that work a little better.
This has been my experience of being bitten around the world.

Amazing pictures Tam and sounds like a great group of people to have met with.😁. Poor stray dogs could break your heart though, they can't all be as lucky as Jade and Milo sadly.

Well sadly the 3 french vans are moving on today ...further south so we may well meet again , we have exchanged instagram details so can follow each others travels .....the Nederland's couple are staying for a few days more as they are heading home.

Im a little sad to see them go as ive enjoyed their company

Tam! Jade will never swim of her own choice if you insist on carrying her in. You may have already put her off pemanently, for goodness sake leave her to play in the shallows and make up her own mind if she wants to swim.

Aren’t first impressions strange - all that partying was annoying to you at first. Imagine how last night’s newcomers felt when they arrived 🤣🤣
Well they did not get a chance ha ha as when they arrived we invited them to come join us at the fire ....although no music last night so it was quiet
