Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

But all the same garage and all the same phone number 👍 i may give them a phone and ask them to confirm it.
They may also have a record of all work done to it which would be good.
( it was only an observation)The bus will be fine , as long as it was serviced ( & I’m sure it was ) it doesn’t matter who done it , engine will be good , just the rust you got to worry about which I’m sure you are more than capable of fixing, you got a bargain, all will be good for the price you paid , looking forward to your build thread

Yes i know ....i notice these things myself and im always suspicious ....i was all for phoning him and creating hell yesterday when my mum first sent photos as the mot certificate said 11/12/20 and the last service 2017 but then when i checked dvla.gov it has a 3 month extension on mot due to covid
And the service record unlike a car is simply on mileage and not annually.
Everything else checks out though and they have had it since brand new and its definitely the 7490kg chassis so all in all im quite happy with it .
Dont know yet how much rust there will be thats not visible but i expect there to be quite a bit here and there. But its all repairable and compared to some ive seen on Instagram builds mine doesnt look to bad.
But ill be spending the time putting all that right before starting the actual camper build and it should be good for another 15 years. I saw one on eBay yesterday that had 1,653,750km on it 😱 which is around 900k miles so thats impressive lol

I run 2-3 merc vans in my plumbing business, Vito’s but mostly sprinters , 8 bought from new then kept for up to 10 years , usual broken springs / injection pumps & handbrake sticking but not much else , always sold due to surface rust not mechanics , the paint was so bad it could be rusting at 1 year old at the spot welds on roof , my last van which I still have (9 year old 30k ) is a Renault master extra high roof ( merc got to expensive )

Boys and their toys😂
I can see you short cutting this trip to rush and play with your new tonka toy 🤣🤣
Nope ill be back around the end of march as planned few more chilled weeks in greece then a nightmare dash home then ive a million jobs to do for mum before i get started on it ....

But but but

Can it do this 😁

I mean there are far far easier ways to get your solar panels at 45°

I'd love to see inside his fridge after that ....and i hope the toilet was empty 😁
I love that! but wouldnt even like to stand and watch it happening, but would be kicking myself afterwards for not having the cajones!😃

Ive done this with jeeps etc and its great fun ....but not sure id be keen to do it in a motorhome. Even with the best catches etc everything inside getting thrown about ....ive seen inside my fridge after a bumpy track. But kudos for him actually using it off road ...most 4x4 never get used for what they were designed for

Very true.
When i lived in the Highlands my ex had a 40 acre croft.
Twelve acres of that was a separate piece of land just below the hill-line.
There was a gated stone track across that piece of land that served as an access road to a croft further back on the hill .

That croft was a holiday home. Its owner used a four wheel drive to access her property. It had White walled tyres1!!!!

The only water on that land was from a spring beside the track. When we had cattle there in the summer they would wallow around the spring and generally mooch about on the track.

The lady with the white-walled tyres was forever complaining that her tyres got stained by the cattle poo!!!!
Oh what a shame!🤣

Back in those days in the Highlands the ex came by a hard- top, UM.
He was convinced I wouldn't like it. How wrong he was, it was a brilliant beast and ideal dog-carrier. I often day dreamed about turning it into a mini-camper as I could lie fully stretched out in itshigh-top back and it could go anywhere.
Sadly the ex was similar to myself in that he had no skill or inclination toward vehicle maintenance or repair.
I was using ithe Um one winter's day to feed the cattle and had just turned off the road when the steering wheel started spinning through 360° in my hands.
I found this rather un-nerving.
I fed the cattle where I had stopped, called my dogs to heel and walked the couple of miles home.
When i left Scotland several years later the Um was sitting in the yard, where it had been towed behind a tractor,
the back was full of burst, rotting sacks of barley and mouse nests and the whin bushes were making a valliant attempt to take it back to nature!
In it's day it had been a dream off road vehicle! 😣

Hi Val Can I ask - was that in Sutherland?

Yes, the very one.
Apologies for the typo, I have a condition in one eye at the moment which is blurring my vision.

Know the area well. Lived over in Sutherland for many years so used to pass through that way sometimes when escaping south. Even though that's many miles apart we could say we were near neighbours! Hope the eyes improve ready for the great escape later on this year.

Me too, opthalmolgist last Thursday, hospital appointment monday, GP for blood tests Wednesday. Copious eye drops and pills meanwhile
They are now checking for high cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
I didn't have any of that two weeks ago lol.
So its fingers crossed.

Not good. Likewise - hope you get sorted ok.
Apologies to Tam for a partial highjack of his thread.
