Summer in Spain (again)

You should almost be registered there:giggle:
Could be a possibility, but I don't think we would be having very long conversations....what on earth did he/she say....
I spoke to a guy yesterday who I had seen walking past our van.on several occasions, it was clear to me he had a slight limp...however on the second day, same man, limp improved...
I decided to have a chat...Bad Idea, he couldn't under my Castilian, we conversed, corrected and he went on his way....how he arrived at the following I do not know...
So here goes.
He thought I was a Doctor, from Central London, I am in Spain because it's better than France or England, I now live in Spain...he got that part right...
He thought being a Doctor from London (Central) that I was good one,as I had made a accurate diagnosis....it didn't matter if I was a Doctor (London Central) a fishmonger or a car mechanic, it was so blatantly obvious he had a limp....
Later that day, I saw the man with an improved limp again, I was filling a water container....very slowly, giving him chance to be far enough away before he could see me...
This morning he appeared walking with a much older man....my word, he's brought his father for full examination...the van blinds remained closed until he passed....I later saw him, but this time without the old man....I felt so sad....perhaps the old man didn't make it, a visit to a London Doctor (Central) might have been his last hope...😀🇪🇦👍

And ... I only left him alone at the motorhome long enough to go to the nearby supermarket 🤣🤣🤣

Well Martin went down on the rocks to go fishing (not catching)! It was a lovely evening though. It was just nice to sit and watch and listen to the waves.

Have we wandered into a busy period or a busy area.....it's all cracked off now....the past few weeks have been somewhat quiet, but the area we are just now is well attended...
It's going to need some extra planning to avoid the larger crowds...of course the extra motorhomers are being attracted by such a wonderful location...Bikes will once again be prepared and new area visited..🚲🚲👍🇪🇦

Last night three cars arrived just as we were going to bed. Picnics were enjoyed. One car then left. The two remaining were still here this morning. The very smart black car nearest to us had two very respectable 50 somethings, who got up, got dressed and then drove off. I expect off for a loo and to have breakfast.

The other is a "sleeping van" with a young couple in it. They're having a picnic breakfast. A loo is not so necessary for them? 😂. I'm not stalking, I can see from my bed!

All the other 16 or so spaces were filled with motorhomes last night. It'll be interesting to see if it continues to be allowed. We're not staying for another night, as nice as it is here.

From my bedroom, rectangular (very dirty), window, after the black car had left.

Where I walked Alfie up around the Parque Almenara, you'd be amazed at how many people park up and sleep overnight all year round. Any mh's are out numbered by cars and vans.

And I appears I fibbed earlier, because after our ride, and seeing how busy the coast between here and Foz is, we're staying put.

We've turned the van round to put the fridge in the shade and catch a breeze through the door.

Eating lunch, more later ...

Lunch eaten. We have a hire van next to us. It's... very interesting 🤭

They won't stay all afternoon and night ... Will they? 😂

Our ride today took us on very quiet, forest roads, climbing up ... then back down to the coast. We passed Coto Camper. We went there in its first year of opening. It was very full today.

We then rode along the coast. All the fields opened up for parking were almost full, all with a lot of motorhomes.

Cathedral Beach area was particularly busy.

As we got nearer here, some of the quieter areas were ... quieter.

We eventually decided that moving today wasn't necessary. We'd not get anywhere better, nearby. (That depends on the "rentamob" next to us. They are ... noisy) 🤣

Anyway a few photos from today.

Starting off here and through the forest.

And the reason why so many people flock ... white, sandy beaches. Horrible!

20240719121011_IMG_0001.JPG

This bit was quieter. No beaches here, just rocks for people fishing with poles. We think for octopus?

Rinlo

Then, we were almost tempted to move here, but the internet signal was poor. An afternoon/evening/morning without ... wasn't worth considering 🤣🤭

The hire van occupants were noisy bu@@ers but they bu@@ered off somewhere until almost midnight. Then kids voices, a bouncing football, dad's voice, had Martin putting in ear plugs.

Strangely, it immediately quietened. I laid awake expecting it to start up again, but I fell asleep and didn't wake until 7 am, so, after all they weren't noisy (or were they 🤣).

We've now travelled slightly back inland. We shopped/fuelled the van/emptied the loo, all at the Eroski supermarket. (I got a wine box)!

So we're now at a P4N motorhome area, called on there as San Pedro de Mor. There's a medieval festival on during this weekend. The only other van parked here doesn't half have strangely dressed occupants.

He has a sword, so we've kept well away!

We're parked under chestnut trees. It's cloudy today, but the shade may be welcome tomorrow if we ride from here and stay over.

Martin has a painful, swollen foot, for some reason, so walking to the Castle for the festivities isn't on the cards 🙁. We'll visit by bike when everything is done and dusted.

Martin's self diagnosis is gout!!! Who gets that nowadays? Apart from lots of people, apparently. And, apparently its painful 😢😢

If he thinks he has gout he should get to a doctor and have a blood test to check. It can be extremely painful. Alan has it but it's controlled by a daily tablet and his blood is checked every 6 months.

Thanks Helen. It's his self diagnosis. If it doesn't improve soon, I think he'll need to go and have it looked at.

Hugs to you 💕💕💜💜💕💕

Well, heatwave in Spain, what heatwave 🤔.

I wouldn't say it was cold here, but we're both inside the van and wearing fleeces. We've got shade, and it's not necessary. What a waste!

We've been for a ride, we had cool, a few spots of rain, a bit warmer, then we were back. We went high onto a moorland type area and then it was downhill almost all the way back.

So, the few photos I took aren't up to much. I'll try to do better next time. We've not even seen the castle yet, we arrived back from the opposite direction.

Going up.

And another church. There's a P4N nearby, but we didn't know where to look whilst we were out there in the cooooold.

You're in the free heatwave zone:giggle::mad:
Well...funny you should mention this, I'm a bit of a "Weather nerd" being outdoor enthusiasts it's important to know,
Is it going to rain.
Is it going to be hot.
Is it going to be windy.
Can we park the MH in the shade.
Can we still get solar to charge the eBikes..
Well on today's ride, we expected 19°c...it was colder and it rained..🥴
We have the van in the shade to keep us cool, it's cloudy..
OK some you win, some you lose..🤭🤔🇪🇦

Today has been a perfect day. A cool night and a long sleep had to waking up to blue skies.

Martin got on Komoot and planned us a bike ride. It went well. We started off visiting the outside of the castle and then we rode on tiny lanes through hamlets and villages, and passing some fabulous old buildings, most still in use. Real Spain comes to mind 😂. We stopped on a bridge to look at the river. The guy from the bar next door asked if we wanted coffee (gratis). We thanked him, but declined. Too much coffee for one of us means too many stops!

We eventually rode parallel to the coast, but a few km inland. We could see Foz. A bit further along we could see a motorhome parked. Now that looks a nice place 🤔. I'll have a look on P4N later.

The sundial on the ermita just above, seemed to be the right time 😊maybe.

We're back at the van, bikes on charge, solar panel out in the sun, van in the shade and we're nice and cool inside and about to have lunch.

How’s the gout Martin. Looks beautiful, I’m sure I haven’t visited that rock with the sword but Ive definitely seen one before on our travels, I just can’t remember where now 😜

Martin's siesta'ing right now. I'm sure he'll answer when he wakes. But ... his toe and foot seem to be getting better. Well that's what he said this morning.

This place is worth a visit, if you want cool and quiet.

Easy access back down to the busy coast if needs must 😂

Thanks for asking. a couple of days on anti-inflammatory has both reduced the swelling and subsequently the pain...
If I couldn't ride my bike, I would be knocking on the door of the medical centre...but that's fairly unlikely...🚴

In the cool part of Spain, we're about to contemplate cooking our lunch. Our main meal of the day, always.

We've had a beer (Martin) and a glass of white wine (me) with our aperitif (a small slice of tortilla and one of meat empanada (pasty)) and then for the main meal we're having chicken and mushrooms cooked in cream, white wine and a touch of tomato frito, with spaghetti. (The chicken is the last of the whole one I bought on Saturday, with potatoes, onions and peppers. We had the legs and the potato part then). It's now done us three meals. Not bad value for money.

We had a nice ride, eventually. A blocked area in a farm made us ride a busy-ish road instead of the planned route. No matter, we got back on track and it went well from thereon. Looking back on Google maps, we've found we could have got back onto our route earlier. Oh well, next time!

Martin, trying to check out the route after we'd left the blocked track. A place for sale. In need of modernisation, but electricity is nearby!
20240723112347_IMG_0034.JPG

Then on our route back. A renovated house, with a bread oven.
20240723121517_IMG_0039.JPG

We've, almost, already, decided tomorrow to head to the coastal location we could see on our ride yesterday.

It has a narrow bridge to cross to enter, but bigger vehicles than ours have made the crossing. There's a pebble beach for "fishingnotcatching", from, and maybe even sea glass searching 👍. There's also a ruined castle above. So, all in all, if we do all, plenty to do.

Then .... Thursday morning we'll have another decision to make 🤣

It was misty again this morning, lovely and cool. Unfortunately, we need sun, or to drive the van, to replenish the van battery, because we used it to recharge the bikes yesterday. We couldn't get sun, so we drove. We stopped off at a very new parking area at Xove (or Jove) where we did a bit of shopping. It's an area, newly created, at a bike park and fitness area.

We moved on though, to our present spot back on the coast at Praia de Esteiro. The driving, and the slightly brighter weather put some power back in the battery.

We're intending to do a ride from here tomorrow. The photos give an idea of our nearby scenery.

That pump track looks like fun, did you have a go around it. 👍

No, fortunately!

A little kid on a pink bike was hogging it 🤣. An even smaller one on a bike without pedals was about to muscle in.
