Elddis CV20
New van ,21 plate Ducato Elddis CV20, started van to move to new site and has Stop/Start error message , also light on panel below right of steering wheel showing light illuminated for Stop/Start . Pushed button on the panel and tried restarting van and error showing still. Stop:Start not operating when stopping at traffic lights etc , drove about 80 miles and at new site, still got error , any ideas ? Thanks .

My vehicle has the later 2.2 160BHP engine 9 speed auto. I am curious to know if the 2.2 uses the same sensors as the 2.3? The FIAT Camper website VIN checker does not report any recalls against the chassis number.
It appears there are no recalls for this problem. I have the same engine/gearbox, and the the particulate matter sensor failed at almost exactly 2000 miles. It seems to be a common problem with new Fiats and as I said seems to fail at around the 2000 mile mark. Mine looked similar to this, although with a slightly larger circuit board box. If is situated next to the rear silencer box.

When I entered my vin, I clicked the check box but when I looked it had come up with a different VIN, tried it several times but same outcome!!

You are checking here? Worked ok with my VIN , just said no recall campaigns , no service campaigns.

Or do you mean it says VIN ok then VIN : ZAREAEFN then some numbers ? Think this is a Fiat reference number as it is the same number every time I put in my actual VIN. Which I think means it is the correct vehicle the recalls refer to.

Presumably the lack of recall means either FIAT don't regard it as a big issue or alternatively they don't want a flood of customers wanting an already scarce component?

Hi,

just to report that I had exactly the same symptoms - no start/stop and EML on, fault code P24AE. The van has been at the Fiat garage today and they want to replace the particulate matter sensor, but none available. I have opened a case with Fiat customer care in the hope that they can magic one up, but apparently nothing will happen for a few days until my case gets looked at by a case manager :(

EML light came on at ~1970 miles. We stopped at a level crossing and had to wait a few minutes for the train so turned the engine off, and the EML light came on when we restarted... :(

cheers,

Robin

after reading all the posts on this subject and it happening to me I thought I would purchase the AL319 code reader. This is the stored code that I got from it!!, I do not have any EM light on or any problems with stop/start since it cleared itself whilst in Spain Feb-April this year?

Weird why this faulty sensor should fail at exactly 2000 miles every time. That's at least half a dozen I have come across all failing in the same way at almost exactly 2,000 miles.

To sum up the issue from my initial post , got fixed today , 5th of July . New Particulate Matter Sensor replaced . Stop / Start error message and Amber warning light cleared and fault messages cleared on ECU.Fault appeared 25th May , diagnosed by Fiat Commercial dealership 10th June so expect to wait at least 4 weeks for the part I think . I raised case with Fiat customer care on the 11th June and got a couple of calls from them , one when it left Italy and one when it arrived in the Uk with an estimated delivery to dealer. Can’t fault Fiat customer care only the supply chain issue for getting the part. If you are in the same situation maybe mention like I did that you have a ferry and holiday booked , maybe why I got the part relatively quick . 😉

By the way I cannot clear the DTC with this tool
Got the same reader, maybe too basic a tool ? There are a few threads on using the Multiscan or

Same reader as I have , this is a very basic tool , may need to use something like MultiECUscan software or the similar one for Alfa’s that are more in depth . Failing that a visit to the dealership, just think if you didn’t have the reader and no warning lights showing on the dash ,you would be none the wiser of the issue , 😲

Hi,

there is a difference between the error having happened in the past and being active now. If you have no EWL then the code you are seeing is one that was recorded at some point in the past but is now no longer active. The sytem keeps the codes so that intermittent faults can be checked out.

Modern (2021 on?) Ducatos have a thing called a 'secure gateway module' that means that the OBD port is basically read only - you can read the error codes but not clear them or make adjustments. An authorized Fiat garage has the correct software to clear the codes and adjust settings. The good thing about the secure gateway is that it makes stealing the van by using the OBD port to program keys harder. The bad thing is that you can do less maintenance/adjustment yourself. Apparently the secure gateway thing is buried somewhere behind the glove box - if you can get to it you can bypass it using the appropriate wiring kit (not for the fainthearted or those who like their warranty...)

cheers,

Robin

Fiat Camper told us we could use it but understand your concern, think they are on a long delivery.
I was told yesterday Dave by FCA not to use the moho and same today by Brownhills, I'm hoping in 2 weeks to be fit enough to drive again so hopefully the new sensor will have arrived by then and fitted

Fingers crossed 🤞

Dealers told me the same , it’s Amber warning ⚠️, We did 150 miles with it showing no problem, it’s your van , your choice but we waited a month for the part to arrive. Hope you get it sorted 😉

Mine has also recently just had the ad blue light on at about 1950 miles. Filled up about 30 miles later (just over 10 litre required) ad blue light went out. Then about 20 miles up the road the engine light came on and stop start was disabled. It's going in to have the codes checked on Friday.

Sorry , no idea , but it’s consistent at around 2k miles. Once the dealership diagnose it’s that part , best thing to do is raise a case direct with Fiat Customer Care , 0080034281111, option 13 , then option 2, they will give you a case ID and assign a Customer Care manager, they will contact you within a day or so , let them know it’s a campervan and you need it fixed ASAP to go on holiday . This may help speed up the part but be prepared to wait ( for us about 4 weeks) as this part is understandably in high demand and gets posted direct from Italy !! They were very helpful and gave good communication on a regular basis , just couldn’t really sort it for us any quicker. 😲Once part arrived at the dealership , they contacted me right away and fitted it within an hour the following day.

Kept on using it Al till it was sorted, Fiat camper said it wound be fine, mine was one of the first ones.
that’s the problem Dave

initially Fiat said it was ok to use as it was an orange light but now they’ve changed their mind and instructed the dealers to advise to tell the customers not to use them

It’s been with the dealer since June 7th having warranty snagging jobs done anyway, after next week it’s gonna be 6 weeks since my operation so it’s suited me to leave it with them. But now i’m almost fit enough to drive I really don’t want to be held up if you know what I mean 😉
