Simple food for simple/single blokes

Place 4 large eggs directly on microwave turntable.
Cook on full power for four minutes.


When you finish cleaning microwave hunger will have passed.
 
No reason at all not to learn.
Why ,if you have no interest?
I can cook but cannot see the point. Anything you use then needs cleaning & I have to do it before i can eat. So I rarely bother.
Pot noodles, corn beef, & as long as I have tea/coffee, sugar ,milk & water jobs a good un.
 
Make a cheese sandwich with 2 slices of bread. Let the cheese come to room temperature (not chilled)
Whisk an egg in a bowl and dip the sandwich into the egg (both sides) then fry in frying pan. Yummy:)

Another is, make a jam sandwich and insert a Digestive biscuit inside:)
 
You can try my camping special.

Tin of potato’s
Tin of tomatoes
Tin minced beef

Lob it all in a saucepan and gently heat.
Couple of pieces of bread and butter.

Heaven in a bowl :)

Skip the bowl if your cutting down on washing up.

Being a single bloke I have no cooking skills - I have eaten cold beans from a tin (normal I know) but would like to do better

This morning I looked in the fridge :):xrofl::)
....sausages and an open tin of mushy peas

I fried the sausages then added the mushy peas to the pan......fabulous!!

Looking forward to the same tomorrow!

With those ingredients you could have made a half-decent pea and ham soup -- or in this case pea and sausage, which I reckon sounds just as good. Sounds like you got close.

Cheapo piece of ham (cooked in the oven) or some left over ham, lobbed into a pan with one or two cans of mushy peas and a pint or two of stock (boiled water and stock cubes [ham ones best, or whatever you have]), a dash of mint sauce. If you are being fancy add some dairy, whatever's in the fridge: bit of cream, bit of milk.

Boil it up for a while.

Survival food, that's what I call it -- but tastes great!

Been cooking for 45+ years and to be honest I'm fed up with it

If I was on my own I'd live on sandwiches and take aways :cry:

Tonight's dinner, monkfish tails (reduced from local supermarket) wrapped in pancetta. It was lovely, but had enough of the cooking.

As sons used to say, when I was sitting watching tv, who unchained her from the stove:rolleyes:.

When I go visiting them and their families I always get roped in to cook a roast dinner (n)

Monkfish tails. Mmmm.....lovely. I am envious. When I can't be bothered to bone them, stick 'em in a stew just as they are and let the diner take the flesh off the bone. Much less effort.
 
I was always a decent cook but, when my first marriage went tits up I knuckled down & became even better.
This was helped by treating myself to a huge range cooker, I only got it to piss my ex off & boy did it work.
I love being in the kitchen cooking but, a seriously arthritic hip makes standing at the cooker very difficult.
Hazel @Mrsambulancekidd is a superb cook & we've replaced the first range cooker with an even better one.
For nearly 15 years I have waited for the wonderful apple pie that Robert & others have told me he can make.....:whistle:
 
Try some pasta dishes , simple to do with sauces off the shelf , add a few prawns, yummy.

This one I call Pasta Disaster.

Fry up onions and bits of bacon, mix with some cooked pasta and a can of tomato soup, put some grated cheese on the top and cook in the oven till it looks edible!

A smoked ham joint, in a pot of water, bring to the boil, then simmer (that's a low heat) for ages.
Take ham out of the pot, cut or rip it up into bits, put back on with Split lentils.....oh and pop in a ham stock cube & some black pepper.....simmer some more.
The only thing to watch is that it NEVER boils/simmers dry.
Crusty bread & butter with that and it will fill you up.

A nice curry is simple enough sauces off the shelf, fry some onion , chicken , mushrooms veg etc add the sauce or paste and pop on top of rice from a pack if you can’t cook it, simple.

Steak is easy to do, even a sauce to go with it is easy.....
The following is my own invention......
Onions &/or mushrooms sliced up, stick them in a frying pan (I use a nice large one & make the sauce alongside the steak) fry them off.....then.....
Add a teaspoon of wholegrain mustard
A healthy teaspoon of honey (it smoothes/rounds off the flavour in lots of things)
Lastly a tub of crème fresh.
Ask @ambulancekidd what he thinks of that one.

Another easy one is redcurrant jelly & red wine.
Stir them up until the jelly melts and it all starts to thicken a little & get sticky.

all cooking is based on burning stuff
to the right level

too much heat burnt outside
raw in the middle

less heat better cooked grub
but takes longer

when boiling veg tables dont let em boil dry

rolls & sandwiches dont need cooking

Sandwich toaster, ham, cheese, corned beef, cheese, onions, cheese, tomatoes, cheese, sardines, cheese, tuna, cheese, Branson pickle, spam, cheese.

Learn how to make pancakes .... you tube it, just mix milk, egg, plain flour, pinch of salt, pepper, mix into a smooth batter, best way to do that is to add the milk slowly, too much liquid and it’s harder to get the lumps out. Hot frying pan with a little sun flower or corn oil, turn when cooked, then add lemon, or orange sprinkle sugar, or soup, Heinz tomato is great, my brother loved oxtail.
You could put canned chicken or chilli in it too.
 
I don't know whether it is still the case, but when I went to 'Junior High', in the States, back in the early 60's. All boys had to do one term of cookery, whilst the girls had to do either woodwork or metalshop.
Some boys just 'goofed - off' during the lessons but the experience has certainly benefited me over the years.
 
Cook a dried or microwave a dried rice mix.
Cook sausages either leave whole or cut up add to cooked rice mix, all you need is a fork!

For a quid....not bad. Hot or cold. And plenty of E numbers to make you feel energetic. Note- its an all day breakfast. Suitable for any time. Fun game while eating too...what bit is meant to be ...bacon, egg, sausage or beans.

When I was at school I opted for cooking classes as I worked out that the class was 90% girls. My technicial drawing skills are consequently rubbish but I believe my ability to cook and chat up girls has I believe given me more enjoyment in life.
 
My wife hates cooking and shopping so I do all the cooking and the shopping, as I enjoy cooking and I buy the food that I want. We are off in the camper this afternoon for example and when we arrive at the site, meeting our mates, she will have absolutely no idea what is in the fridge, just assuming that the fridge and the freezer will be suitably stocked for all eventualities and numbers.

We have a slide out beer/wine chiller and, equally Lyn will just assume that what ever wine takes her fancy will be there lol But, as I type this Lyn is at home decorating the hall, stairs and landings a job I hate and can't be arsed to do.

Simple recipe? Serves two, or if your Billy No Mates, makes a great dinner for one, with an amazing lunch ready for you the next day!

Buy some Porky Whites premium pork sausages, and put them in a pot, If you want to get all "Cheffy" cut each sausage into three (would recommend even on the basic cook that you cut the bit that joins the sausages)

Get two large Onions peel them and quarter them, chuck em in the pot.

Buy two jars, one of lazy Chilli and one of lazy Garlic. Open the jars. Put two heaped teaspoons (the spoon you use to make tea or coffee) of Lazy Garlic in the pot. Put one heaped teaspoon (the same one will do) of Lazy Chilli

Open a can of chopped tomatoes and empty it into the pot

Open a can of Plum tomatoes and empty it into the pot

Half fill one empty can with hot water and swill the water around until all the red stuff has dissolved, and pour it into the other can and swill until the red stuff has dissolved, pour the water into the pot.

When you bought the Lazy Garlic and Chilli hopefully you saw something called Paprika, and you bought a jar of the smoked sweet kind as you need two heaped teaspoons (covered already) sprinkled over the contents of the pot.

Add a big knob of butter, about a quarter of a normal sized block

Add a glug of Olive Oil about an egg cup full

Add Pepper, crushed black better, but what ever you can find at the back of the cupboard will do, add about two teaspoons

Stir well, carefully not to bash up the tomatoes.

Cover with a lid, or foil (don't use Cling film) and place in an oven at 160 degrees, (Gas Mark Google) for at least 80 minutes, but within reason another hour or so won't really matter whilst you wine and dine your guest and regale him or her with your cooking prowess.

Serve with shop bought Baguettes ripped into chunks with Red wine!

Time to prepare? Five minutes allowing for pouring the Chef a Large glass of Red wine as a reward!

My old foreman at work used to crumble an Oxo into a pan, pour in some water and chuck a Scotch pie into the mix, by the time it's come to the boil, it's ready to eat !

I used to love them and always had some in the camper. Perfect for those cold trackdays.


But still surprised that folk are scared of E numbers.
