Rally Shrewsbury VINTAGE show 23rd-28th June 2022

Martin. If we stick with the same dates will Jan let us have a venue for get togethers? I will have my gear with me but be reluctant to use outside unless no rain forecast.

If the rally is a week later, it then clashes with the British F1 Grand Prix for which I have a ticket...
...so obviously I'd prefer the date to remain the same, with or without the vintage bit.
As you say, Martin, plenty to see in the town, and the food fest.
OK Stephen, you are right of course and I think the best bet is leave it as it is and if the Vintage does move 1 week people can have the option to stop on for that.

So that is official the date is not moving(y)

Can certainly ask the question Robin, it might cost a little bit but I am sure we could cover it if you fancy doing something(y)

Vintage Show or not, the original dates would be preferable for us, as we'll be coming up to Shrewsbury from Dave & Polly's Hereford Rowing Club Meet, and had planned to be in the area for a good week or so anyway.

Cheers,

Jock & Rita. :)

I had a feeling that plans would have been made Jock so it's too late to go changing now and the Vintage committee still can't make up their minds anyway, I have a feeling that they might miss the bus.

Hi Martin funflair , I think your list on post #113 may not be the full one, it’s short on my iPad.

We are ok with the original date.

It’s a pleasant walk in to Shrewsbury anyway and the food festival is a bonus. It would be great if a few more funsters were able to to be included. The bonus for us without transport is the accessibility to transport in Shrewsbury should we need it.

This will be a good venue for first timers as looking at the list there are a lot of experienced funsters who have in the past helped me who are attending, so a good one to get to know people.

Yes thanks for that, that really was just a list of those that were on the reserve list to let them know they have been bumped up(y) I have edited it to hopefully avoid any confusion, the full list is always on page 1

Hi Martin

Thanks for the update. I would be OK for either dates, but see you have decided on the original ones so that is fine with me.

Thanks for sorting it.

Mike

Wouldn't need to be the main building. We used an open ended barn last year at the Norfolk show and had a good evening.

Just need a bit of power. Be better if we can set up and lock the door so we can use it perhaps over several days. That's if anyone else is interested of course.

Robin

We're happy to stick with original dates. It's more for the fun meet up and visiting Shrewsbury than the show. 👍👍

Hi Martin with work commitments and being in Shrewsbury the following week we would like to be removed from the list please.

Much as we like Shrewsbury the real attraction for us was the Vintage Show. The dates are not a problem to us but if the show does move to the following weekend, and the "meet" doesn't, we will likely cancel.

However as "The Committee" haven't made their minds up please leave us on the list for now and we'll decide when everything is finalised.

Understood(y) I think the original weekend for the Vintage is "dead in the water" but will leave you on for now.

OK just a little update, as I have stated and others have approved we are sticking with our original dates 23rd through to 28th June or part thereof,

Entertainment

We have negotiated a room for Robin meanders to set up his sound gear, he has said something about open mic, band night, quiz but I am sure he will come on and clarify things for you(y)

Bacon Buns

Sunday morning it has to be Bacon buns, rolls, baps or whatever you want to call them Red or Brown sauce as you please, I will be asking for volunteers but have to worries at all that these will be forthcoming, locally sourced bacon from a trader in the market hall is/was scrummy.

Canoe Trip

We have on a couple of occasions had a canoe trip from Montford bridge which is 10 or 12 miles upstream and finishing at the showground the river is easy going and no previous experience is required, if anybody fancies this just give me an indication please and I will make further enquiries, last time we did it I think it was £30 per seat, they pick us up at our vans and provide all equipment, hopefully everybody enjoyed it last time.

Town Walk

We can arrange this through the tourist information office and will be asking for names later when we can confirm the price also.

Food and Drink Show

I mentioned this earlier in the thread and it will be on Sat/Sun in the Quarry, that is about 1.5 miles on foot, if anybody wants to attend I suggest they arrange tickets etc individually.

Any other ideas please shout up.

Hi Martin

I'm very sorry, but could you please remove our name from this rally as we are no longer able to attend.
Thanks Rosemary and Jim

I would be interested in canoeing, but have no experience

No problem we can put you with Jock;) seriously though don't worry it's just a leisurely paddle so you won't need any advanced skills.

funflair, can I go on the list or the reserve list please. I enjoyed your last meet.

Its a lovely trip, and should be fairly straightforward at that time of year., also very convenient that it ends at the showground which itself is on the river.
Being a local Jon what can you tell us about the Food and Drink in the quarry?

No probs Martin, we ve been several times but pre covid. The quarry itself is a great location by the river, 20 minutes-ish walk from the showground. Nice show with lots of local food producers and crafts. always used to be plenty of samples and some great options for a different lunch, Goat Curry, Smokers, wood fired pizza, Cheeses etc, Quinoa if thats your thing

Yes it is a bit pricey but £3 cheaper to buy in advance
