Show us your 3d printed bits!

I just tried uploading a component(battery vent connector) into the resource section that Jim set up. Not the most exciting part but put a stop to my battery install earlier this year as I could not source one locally. All appears to have gone fine with the posting. If anyone has designed a fiamma tripod stand I'd love to see what you have. I'd prefer not to have to spend close to 60quid on a piece of plastic.

Hi
How did you do that. I’m trying to put some designs on for funsters, but it can’t seem to get it to work. Do you have to zip the file for it to work.

Correct. When you go to upload the file it will only take certain file types of which the most common would be a zip file. If you don't have it 7-zip is brilliant freeware and can be got from www.ninite.com

BTW I meant to post my earlier comment with a smiley face but I hit the wrong key - apologies.......:-)

I think windows has built in compression now. If you right click on the on the file in explorer there is probably some compression option?

Linux also has this, but not sure about Mac sorry.

Windows has decompression built in but not compression. Linux has everything and Mac has a way of just annoying me.....

Cheers. Managed it. Just working out how to get a picture of the design displayed. 👍

Anyone printing the little hinge parts of the telescopic guide for the Ducato Remis side window blinds?

I think we may need this 'thingy' too ..... ?? any ideas?

Hi. I sell these for £10 a pair inc p&p. They include little M3 bolts as a stronger alternative to the pin. The bolt heads do slightly rub when the blind is retracted, but the plastic frame gives quite readily, and they work nicely. I would add them to the new 3D Printing Plans, but they are not easy to print. I spent weeks getting the Gcode perfected for the printer. I will put other handy designs for Motorhomes on later.

Hi everyone
I have started to put some 3D printable designs for Motorhomes in my resources / 3D Printing Plans. Hope they are of use to some of you. I will be adding to them periodically.

What material did you print them in.
Just PLA. I know it's not very flexible, hence the slits into the clip and lots of fillets to reduce the chance of cracks forming.

They seem to work pretty well. I don't think they'll fall out in normal driving or being knocked. But they don't grip too tight so that the 3M tape I'm using to attach them will be ripped off. I just guessed at the thicknesses, size of the overbite to grip the poles, etc. Got lucky!

I think you’ve made a really nice job. PETG would give you a bit more flex without cracking, but then again the stiffness of PLA could work to your benefit. The main thing is it works and looks tidy.

Stay Safe PaulandChrissy. 👍

Remind me in early September when I'm next home and I've one you can have at whatever price you offer. A pittance will work for me 😊.

The clip on my remote winch keeps breaking and having glued it many times I was wondering if it could be replicated via 3D printing and if so would a fellow funster be willing to do it for me (paid of course 👍). I can post the broken clip if needed?

Thanks David

Morning David, I could measure it and model it in my CAD system for you if someone else can print it. Our printer is not working presently. I would need to have the bits though and would do it for free. I may be able to add some ribs to strengthen it. Richard

That would be much appreciated Richard 👍👍 I can post it to you no problem, I’ll drop you a PM to swap addresses etc 👍

Hi Guys
Once you have done the CAD, send me the STL or OBJ file and a will print it in PETG for you.

That’s much appreciated guys 👍👍👍👍 I’ll get the broken part posted off to Richard Morning Major and once he has done the file I assume it can be emailed to you PaulandChrissy

I’m more than happy to recompense the costs as I’ve done a lot of searching and cannot find the part to buy so you guys will be doing me a BIG favor 👍👍

Will await the email from Morning Major and get it printed for you. 👍

Hello, I have modelled the part and created an STL file for you. Let me know if you need me to modify it to help with the build. Richard

Cheers. Will let you know later if I need any alterations.

Hi Richard
very nice bit of design work. Just 1 alteration would make it print much cleaner. There is a very steep overhang that will print very messy. (Picture below with my finger showing). Can you make it so the overhang is 45deg. If you started with a 45deg chamfer from the print bed and then curved from that. It will look more stumpy at the end, but it will print much cleaner. Hopefully you understand what I mean.

Hi Richard
Second thoughts. I’m going to try and print it at 0.15mm layers with bed support. Will probably need a little cleaning with some wet n dray paper, but your shape is so aesthetically smart it would be a shame to loose it. If it’s too messy, I will get you to alter it. Hold fire for the moment.
👍. PaulandChrissy

WOW!! I’ve just caught up with the thread and very impressed on the speed at which you guys have created and printed this 👍👍🙏🙏 very pleased 😃 😁😁

As Richard can see Id glued it many times as I had tried but failed to buy a replacement clip for the remote and reading this thread made me think ‘ah I wonder if it’s possible to replace the clip’ and the answer is a resounding yes, so again many thanks 🙏.

I think I’m going to be putting a 3D printer on my Christmas list 👍

Richard Morning Major was it difficult to create the file? I’m amazed at how similar to the original part it is and would love to know how you went about creating such a good copy.

Thanks again guys 🙏

David
