Should I Say Anything?

Mine barks and howls when left so I feel it’s cruel to leave her and also not fair to any neighbours. I leave her to get a shower but that’s it!
She stops me doing quite a few things but I wouldn’t be without her.

Is it called Cuzza?

Has the owner come back yet.

Please, please, please can I make it very, very clear that I am not (NOT) on a campsite!

No "rules" here because "camping" is not allowed... only "parking".

I have a reputation to maintain you know.

JJ

Does that mean you are one of those Loading Free Thingies @JJ :D ;)

The outcome was that by the time I returned from my evening grub, they were back, curtains closed and all was quiet.

This morning, as I dragged myself out of bed, they were preparing to leave.

Obviously I was still in my Jim Jams and I didn't feel like rushing out to tell them about their lonely dog... especially as my Jim Jams feature a (beautiful) sky blue City top (No 33) and there might have been some Chelsea fans around.

No reason to upset people on a beautiful day like today.

why would a Coventry city top upset a Chelsea fan?

Our dogs can be left for up to 6 hours if really, really necessary (not that we like to do it so it is VERY rare and usually only due to something making us later than planned), they usually just settle down for a lovely long siesta etc and enjoy the peace and quiet without us in the van! They don't make a noise usually unless someone goes too close to the camper ... so ... JJ stop sticking your nose up against the window of the camper! :D2

Not sure I agree with not leaving dogs unaccompanied in vans, we do occasionally for a couple of hours. You need to be responsible and should know how they will react if you know your dog.
I have sneaked back and they have been as quiet as church mice.
Mine too , she goes to sleep ....I make sure I close all blinds etc so she doesn't see anything to bark at. Never a peep from her and I've hung around outside the van begore going off and when I've come back just to see. But I don't leave her more than a few hours.
It can't be helped at times, she can't always go where I go. Supermarkets , laundarettes etc.

Yes bang on Tam, same as us.

Funny thing but I'm in a motorhome parking pitch near Sanlucar. I arrived today and all the local dogs are barking and howling and they ain't even in a motorhome.

Now I could move but have decided alcohol and some ACDC eliviates the situation.

just wondering if dogs are happy to travel (tethered) and then be left alone in motorhomes - judging by some reports here they are not?

Mine loves travelling in the Motor home.

And she doesn't mind being left for a few hours. Usually after a long walk.

Yes, if a dog is upset at being left for longer than ten minutes then mention it to the owners, my dog wails for a bit then settles down, if he didn't I wouldn't leave him, but if he did how would I know he was upset, I would also hate to upset my neighbours trying to have a nice peaceful day.

One of mine hates travelling, one tolerates it, and one doesn't care because he's asleep. Once parked they're all happy.

When we go near the MH on the drive the dogs start jumping up and down.. run off to get their leads and get really excited.

When we are away we have walked them and left them for up to 8 hours.. we have travelled driving for 15 hours only stopping for wee stops for them and yet still they get excited to come with us.

We left them at home when we went to Polche for 4 days and they sulked for a week.

They much prefer coming away with us and they only bark or eat people that come to close to the van.

Sorry if that makes us terrible owners but if you know your dogs you know your dogs

Of course not, you are British !!!

But if you can forget that for a moment suggest that you break in and rescue it. The more valuable the MH the more the owners will thank you.

I used to do this as my last dog would go up the scale even when sitting quietly with us. I was a bag of nerves when on CC sites. I knew my dog was happy, comfortable and cool/warm, but the wardens didn’t so I was worried I would come back and find door broken down to save dog! No more dogs for me after more than 60 years, until we give up Motorhoming. What is worse, taking dog with you and tying up outside a shop whilst you do a quick dash round, or leaving it for an hour knowing it is happy in what it considers as home? Good idea to have a word with neighbours before you do go and to be as quick as possible.

We dog sit John's son's dog when they go on holiday. We also have camera in the living room. He is quiet when we leave and when we get back but barks most of the time when we are out. Had thought that he was good all the time, and only left for short periods too.
Seems he stops barking when he either senses or hears the car returning. It is still necessary to leave him sometimes and fortunately our near neighbours are usually out during the day.

We leave our four at home sometimes when we go out into town for a couple of hours, but wouldn’t dare do that in the MH.....they’d bark if anyone walked past or pitched near us, and they would then probably start to eat the ‘van.....! We have a couple of cameras in the house so that we can ‘drop-in’ on them to see what they’re up to....they bark if anyone rings the door bell, but we keep the shutters closed and leave the radio on (BBC Radio Gloucestershire, since you ask!), and, most of the time, they seem to sleep. The cameras alert us to noise and movement, so we are aware if things are going on....mostly!

Yes. Ask them if they are aware that their dog is so upset politely. I’m sure they would want to know.
