I have pulled up at Armacão de Pera and, despite the football club being PACKED with motorhomers, at least MY spot was available.

In front of my spot is a Blighty van.

The couple closed up their van and went off for a walk.

From the moment they left, their dog, who wasn't invited to join them on the walk, has been howling and barking NON STOP.

I just don't understand some dog owning motorhomers...

Do you think they know their dog gets so stressed?

Should I say anything to them?

JJ

Yes. definitely. Might shame them as to their behaviour to their dog and their neighbours.

We let some dogs out of a caravan near us (we knew the owners) that were obviously distressed and we were expecting a volley from the woman - short temper - but no, she thanked us and bought a bottle of wine as a thanks. She was really upset that her dogs were upset.

Yes.Our new neighbours did the same thing. Left the dog in the garden while they both went to work.It never stopped barking.A quick word in their ear ,They didn't realise .Now they take it to relatives while at work.Peace and quiet returned..

We had the same conversation yesterday evening.
We were on a very busy C&MC site and someone, somewhere had gone off and left a dog howling.
As it wasn't very close we didn't know which van it was in but I hope the near neighbours let the owners know when they returned. The C&MC specifically ask that you don't leave dogs unaccompanied in vans but it seems that people take little notice.
Just like those that ignore the speed limit on sites.
Can't tell you the number of both caravans and motorhomes we saw whizzing round a crowded site at daft speeds.

Moan over.

Richard.

Not sure I agree with not leaving dogs unaccompanied in vans, we do occasionally for a couple of hours. You need to be responsible and should know how they will react if you know your dog.
I have sneaked back and they have been as quiet as church mice.

I'd want to know if it was Kerry
She's usually curled up in her bed when I leave, and curled up when I return- but obviously I don't know what she does inbetween.
I wouldn't want to be told off though.

Our previous neighbours always had dogs but only the last one barked, sometimes it went on for hours. None of us liked to complain as he had been a Detective locally ! What a load of wimps, typical Brits we just grumbled a lot quietly.

Spray a suitable narcotic gas through the vents into the van with the offending dog. A range of such gasses appear to be available on the continent. The dog will sleep and wake with a dry mouth. The owners will be none the wiser.

Please tell them. If it was my dog I would definitely want to know. Poor dog.

JJ hope they have left a window or two open for him

I would also challenge the assumption that a dog is always "stressed" and being "mistreated" if it barks whilst left on it's own...

One of my dogs gets the hump and barks just coz he wanted to come too and has been left out the fun. He certainly isn't stressed or being mistreated, he's just grumpy...

Can't see an open window ..... is it ok oxygen wise? :(

Sorry just seen @champers has already commented on closed windows.[/QUOTE]

@JJ You need to record it. Then let the owners hear it.

Out of order leaving it on it's own!
Thinks more of not burning his \ her hands with a towel covering the steering wheel than of the dog.

I would tell them, if they don't know a responsible owner will want to know.
How they react will let you know if they care or not.

Did you tell them?

It’s probably to stop the dog chewing the steering wheel in frustration...
