Shell LPG

Anyone know of LPG in West and East Sussex, Hampshire or Surrey?
I think Waitrose in Littlehampton May still sell it but not 100% sure.
thanks.

Polegate Services on the A27 (near Eastbourne)

I certainly do not trust the FillLPG app any more, through experience of being letdown by false information.
Its a shame to see Shell in the main pulling out of LPG sales, but I think we all saw the writing on the wall when announced last year.
The Flogas site seems to list Flogas stockists for mainly bottled gas,but not that many re-fill stations anywhere that near to me. (not even the shell garage that Kannon Fodda mentioned, which I think is in Addlestone, Surrey)
I have sent an e-mail request to Flogas for a Key System account appliaction form, which when completed needs sending back to them. I also asked details of opening times for the only re-fill place listed near me, as its on an industrial estate near Fair Oaks Aerodrome and seems to have locked gates from the google earth picture.
I will post back here when I know more.
Thanks

Thanks for the info re Flo Gas. We did notice 2 large Flo Gas tanks at the S B garage up the road but these aren’t on the list of the key system sites. Good idea though and something worth investigating.

Polegate services just outside Eastbourne and Golden Cross service station. Both on the A22.

Opposite side of Hampshire, but:
- Fleet Services on the M3 (both directions)
Shell Fleet
- Shell Fleet/Cove, just off the J4a of the M3

Fleet Services was Shell but now I think it is just Welcome Break Fuel and the LPG is back (I checked the N bound forecourt last week).

I am really struggling now to find somewhere to refill my autogas. There are three listed near me on filllpg, all closed now. Does anyone know of a station in or around the New Forest that is actually still available?
thanks

The Flogas website is showing this one. You would hope that the supplier site more up to date than the apps.
It does show pumped gas on the actual page.

Which are the 3 you have already tried. Filllpg shows the Esso on the A36 as having LPG with an update on the 27 July.

Not a criticism of anyones approach to refilling: why not fill up on a trip? You need one open filling station on each route you commonly use. It doesn't need to be anywhere near home - just somewhere you normally pass through.

It strikes me that these will all close sooner or later as the cars cease to exist. There may be an enterprising company the might set up a dedicated MH filling point at easy locations. The place in Dover put there price up at the time of the shortage and it never went down again, even motorway service are cheaper.

We have a small company in manchester that supplies bottled gas delivered called Cheshire Gas. They also have pumps at all their yards. They supply caravans, builders roofers etc. I am sure these retailers must exist all over so google small independents not just garages .

I use myLPG.eu app because it is so simple to update. I am not too bothered about the price but rather knowing that it is available . Exactly as Clipgate stated earlier, these apps need users like us to keep updated.

A23 - Pease Pottage Services (South of Crawley).
A23 - Garage at Patcham roundabout (outskirts of Brighton). My usual one.

Correct at 4 weeks ago but things seem to be changing U.K. wide.

Morrisons Littlehampton filled up a couple of weeks ago.
BP Patcham at junction of A27 & A23.
BP on A22 at Golden Cross.
BP Pease pottage services on A23.

LPG refill is now at emergency status. There used to be 10 LPG stations within 10 miles. Now there is only one (office hours only). Where will it end?

Hmm, Morrisons eh?............Must try that one as a chum says their Cumberland sausages are amazing. ;)

Precisely why I installed one refillable and one Calor exchange cylinder last year (imagine a Smug emoticon here) although refilling shouldn't be a problem (yet) as 90% of my touring is abroad.

Will we literally have to cross to France to fill up?

I was just about to buy a Gas It system and install it myself, but there doesn’t seem to be any point when nowhere seems to sell it. Am I missing a trick here?

Cheers!

Following this thread and I'm getting a little worried. Was planning to install a LPG tank this winter but it appears the number of LPG fill points are diminishing.....is this a general national trend or little local difficulty???

I think it tends to be local pockets. A couple of the BP stations around here have had new pumps installed. A year or two year ago there was rumours that BP were pulling out.

Spain a few years ago hardly had any LPG pumps it has loads now.

Round here (Reading) BP has pulled out. Shell has pulled out. There's an Asda pump at High Wycombe which has apparently failed (not been to check, but I doubt will be fixed if it has). Nearest 24h pump is M4 services at Newbury (will probably be closed in a few weeks). When I had an LPG car, I'd be picky about prices. That time has long passed. There is a local gas specialist I believe to be open, but is 9-5, so I have to book time off work.

Would have thought some of these motorhome sales would install a tank, still a lot of campervans with underslung tanks beefing built

I’m in the 50:50 brigade - 1 refillable and one calor exchange bottle. Originally I had planned to have a second refillable installed once I had seen how I got on and my usage. In the current climate I’m happy to stick with my existing arrangement just in case the garages near me cease supply autogas.
I have a friend with an underslung tank and whilst on holiday this month ( Cotswolds) has struggled to find anywhere to fill up.

Hi Tony, Yes I agree with your concept of using a place en-route to any place you are going, thats what we have always done. However, on recollection, 9/10 they have been Shell Garages, which as you know have either ceased to sell LPG or just about to remove their LPG pumps.
We discovered a great coffee stop garage a couple of years back just off The A419 which is a shortcut link between The M4 & the M5 lovely road past The Air Baloon Pub (landmark) it has a Co-Op and a Gregg's which is also useful, but I wouldn't bet its still selling LPG today somehow.
I will soon find out when we go past later in the month, as I do not trust FillLPG any longer for being up to date.
I have now been sent The Flogas Key Account app forms, but using their web map for LPG Autogas shows there are very few left within 50 miles of home, and the only one listed was at a Woking ind est, which I asked them to confirm.. This they did in as much as they said it was a bottle only place no LPG pump, so not looking good around here.
I will not be opening an account until their LPG map shows accurately garages or places that actually do have an LPG pump. If you select Autogas on the search box, then even increase search to 50 mile radius of where you are, you will see once you sift through, and disregard all the bottle gas only places listed, that there are very few LPG pump places shown.
We will see what Hannah at Flogas customer services says when she responds to my query of the Flogas map showing very few and vastly sparse locations for LPG Autogas pumps available.

I can confirm that the Flogas pump should be fixed at Asda High Wycombe just off M40/A404. This was always my preferred pump due to prices. I haven't actually used it, but a cashier confirmed it was operational today.

I know the numbers are diminishing but most posts seemed to refer to, or ask about, ones near the posters home address. I have filled locally occasionally but mainly I know where they are (were in some cases!) on the major routes I use.

One very local to me is at a Calor Gas depot in the town. And strangely the price is very competitive. I wonder if the facility exists in other towns? Another two are at filling stations within 10 miles that mainly service heavy transport. I have also filled at a couple of marinas. One danger in using any app that refers to Autogas is that that's all it looks for. There are businesses other than those using converted vehicles that need to buy pumped gas so it's worth searching for LPG suppliers without any mention of Autogas in the search terms.
