Shell LPG

Unless I am missing something the demand for LPG in filling stations never really took off so they (Shell/BP) are taking them out, so unless you tour the continent regularly for those who stay in the UK refillable gas bottles are becoming a waste of space? I doubt the Clubs are going to install LPG setups for what amounts to a few bob spent by members on LPG.

The demand for LPG has fallen and it is no surprise that some filling points are disappearing. However there is still a demand and the remaining LPG stations are likely to find their pumps in greater demand as a result of the closures. I think we are a long way from UK refillable gas bottles being a waste of space but refilling may take a little more planning in future. If refillable gas stations eventually disappear altogether you can bet the bottled gas suppliers will be delighted and charge even more outrageous prices for their gas.

The recently built Morrisons supermarket with petrol station attached near us had a Autogas pump installed, so they must of seen a future for it and the couple of times or so that we have topped up our underslung LPG tank there we have had to wait as someboby was using the Autogas pump when we arrived.

My plan was to have a senior gap year this year, so it would have been great for Europe. Maybe next year.... And the three stations very near me have stopped doing lpg now. So am having a back up cylinder sorted for the uk now.

I think the concept is great, especially for camping without EHU. Where I live the nearest filling station was a BP (stopped selling LPG) about five miles away and that was really off in the wrong direction. All my journeys start with the M25 in one direction or the other so I have never partaked of a system. Not going to help the V10 RV people either and I feel sorry for them as it certainly helped the viability of those vehicles.
