I have read comments before that SfS is better for campsites and P4N is better for wildcamping

Also that P4N has more coverage than SfS in Europe.

Would any conributors to this thread like to comment further, please.

Is it possible to remove all my reviews on S4S? I don’t want HH using my reviews.

You could try, but I imagine you gave SFS the rights to publish your words in perpetuity when you posted the first time. That said, any data that fell under GDPR data could be deleted on request, but I doubt your reviews are classed as private data under the act. Namely:
  • Real Name
  • Online identifiers, such as IP addresses and cookie identifiers
  • Physical characteristics
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address
ect

I don't have a Euro key on my keyboard :pinocchio:
Phone or laptop? On a phone go to the numbers view then press the =\< button and you should see it on the second row first key on the left, on a laptop etc press and hold the CTRL and Alt keys then 4.

The subscription went up to £7.49 last year, whether that was after negociations with the new owners had started and to preempt any further raise for a while I know not, but SfS will stand or fall on the willingness of subscribers to keep it up to date. After all, it is only the paid subscribers who add, modify and review the listed sites to keep it current and expanding. Any great hike in fees will make me, for one, question the business model which gets the subscibers to do all the work while paying for the privilege.
Look at the costco model.it charges membership , that where a lot of profits come from

Do you use the paid version or the free one?
For two years just used the free one, but cost is so low and worked so well we now use paid version, as I am willing to pay for a app that works. (y)

P4n as you say has a lot of car parks, on street parking, industrial estate etc so maybe have more but we use sfs as go to app then p4n and if desperate cc as it has more motorhome stops to use when on holiday, I think p4n is more for van lifers

I agree about P4N, we have been caught out loads of times. S4S is a good app it's just that coverage abroad is patchy, we have been in areas in Germany & Spain where S4S will show two stops but Camper Contact will show 6 to 8 stops. Also the reviews in CC are by people who use Aires whereas in S4S they seem to be by people who expect site facilities on an Aire, probably because most of them are by Brits who normally stay on sites.

Weve found opposite but they are all there to be used.

I did not say that, but let it pass.

One has to be selective about car parks and street parking, but we have been in some wonderful spots in car parks, e.g on our own under trees next to a stream, or on the top of a hill next to a gliding site with a restaurant next door and a 20km panorama. Some French village CPs are very attractive.

I may trawl through 10 P4N entries to find the best one, but one soon learns to reject some very quickly. If one is lucky No. 1 or 2 is the right one for us.

WE ewcwntly did 3 moths in Slovakia, Austria, Italy and Greece only using P4N does that make us 'van lifers'? Maybe not in a N&B Arto?

We cant get the app to work just now - been like this for a few days.

We cannot get the app to work just now. I updated it from the App Store and now only get a grayed out screen..

Ah…switched my VPN back to the UK from our current location in Portugal and its back working…

I've just downloaded SFS (S4S), as recommended on a different thread. I like the look of it so far, but cannot find a link to subscribe. Would I be correct in thinking that, once my three days unfettered access has expired, the means to subscribe will reveal itself to me?

Open app and at very top very left three horizontal lines. Press that, menu opens. Top option give account info.

Just seen this on FB, hope it doesn't mean price rises but I'm guessing it will.

First of all, we hope you’ve all had a Merry Christmas and enjoyed your New Year celebrations, wherever you may be.

We (Ian and Jill Curtis) have a special message to kick off 2025.

Our motorhome journey began back in 2011, and from the moment we hit the road, we were hooked. On our first trip to France, we quickly realised there had to be a better way to find great stopovers than relying on the guidebooks of the time. And that’s how searchforsites came to life in 2013 — with one simple goal: to make it easier for fellow travellers to find the best stopovers across the UK and Europe.
What started as a little side project has grown into something far beyond what we ever imagined. Now, over 380,000 of you are part of the searchforsites community — some we’ve met on our travels and now consider as friends. We are so thankful for each and every one of you who’ve joined us, shared your experiences, and helped make the platform what it is today.

As some of you might already know, I (Ian) had a health scare last December, which really made us stop and reflect. Facing our own mortality reminded us of the importance of family, adventure, and, frankly, not getting bogged down in the day-to-day running of a growing business.

So, in 2024, when we were approached by Harvest Hosts, we made the decision to pass the baton and sell searchforsites. We made this decision after much thought, and we truly believe they are the perfect fit to look after searchforsites and take it to the next level. Rest assured, we have been working closely with the new team to ensure a smooth transition. And, we're also thrilled to introduce Elena White as the new face of searchforsites.

Elena is a passionate camper van owner from the southeast of England who’s travelled extensively across Europe. We’re confident she’ll bring the same enthusiasm and dedication to the community that we’ve always strived to maintain. We hope you’ll all give her the warm welcome and support that you’ve given us over the years.

And just to reassure you – we are not disappearing! we’ll still be around, travelling and sharing our favourite stopovers on searchforsites and social media, just as we always have but as Ian or Jill and not as searchforsites.

It’s been an absolute privilege to be part of this community, and we look forward to continuing our adventures with you. Thank you all so much for your ongoing support. We’re genuinely grateful for each and every one of you.

Happy travels,
Ian & Jill Curtis
Harvest Host are an American company, I will not be using them.

Your choice of course but why not use the best app for the job IMHO and cheaper than others (at the moment)
Got to be Camper Contact then. 🤣

I dislike that Harvest Host have bought S4S. I use, and continue to use, the free version for the uk. It is my first “go to” for site selection. We are no longer members of Brit Stops although they keep sending me offers to rejoin. I just hope S4S doesn’t go the same way.

I think it's a different kettle of fish as SFS has a lot of competition to find sites of all types whereas Britstops was just a few pub stop overs in UK.

If you're really scared of the Americans, you might try this.

Is this a serious recommendation, I have never heard of it before but I have now downloaded it and it seems to be ok but slow, has anyone else used it.
