Scotland trip

Of course we saw the usual village idiot taking the sign on the pavement literally, there’s always one in every place.

Nice photos. Been to St Andrews a couple of times in last 12 months as son was applying - he’s now accepted his place so hopefully we’ll be up there a few more times over the next 4-5 years.

I'm enjoying your pics
What about the above though Paul? I've always wanted to see the kelpies at night.

Oops....I see I'm not the only nosey one:laughing:
It was manic Debs, you have to park in the bottom carpark at night but it’s usually full all day because it’s free. So you park in the top car park which is ideal for motorhomes with a dedicated section. You then have to wait until enough spaces become clear to park in the bottom car park at night.
The bottom car park was designed for cars only and it’s a free car park so dog walkers, hikers etc all use it.

We couldn’t get in until about 9.30pm the attendant came over and said he thought the bottom car park was clear enough for us to get in. There was joy riders acting like Lewis Hamilton.

The night after after our quiet night at the Falkirk Wheel a motorhomer arrived on the morning and said it was bedlam last night, about 30 vans rammed in, one Motorhome reversed into another, there was joy riders,McDonald’s wrappers strewn all over.

Maybe because it was Easter but I wouldn’t go again.

I dread to think what they would paint on their aircraft these days :whistle2: 🤪 in those days, men were men and women were women :giggler:
Funny you should say that look what was in a window in St Andrews today, if we are all equal why put that in a window, does it matter your sexual orientation these days, not one bit.

Absolutely!

Thanks for this Paul.

I'd walked from the wheel to the kelpies along the canal a few years ago during one of Irnbru's meets - think I might stick to that & as you say, very peaceful overnight.

Looking forward to more pics of your trip(y)

Stonehaven yesterday parked right by the sea those seagulls can’t half chelp.

We’ve had a free night the Motorhome Caravan Club wanted almost £40 to stay in their what looked like a car park, I almost dropped my flat cap when she said the price.

I object to being called a FLT could I please just be referred to as a T, it’s much more apt. Thankyou.

The fish and chips were bloody awful BTW, I need to move up here and show these lot how a Yorkshireman fries them and makes batter.

Thankyou yes someone else said cruden bay is lovely.

If we had more time it would be definite, we are now on the road to Golspie 164 miles Caz wants to go to John O Groats before she pegs it she said.
Can also vouch for Cruden Bay Paul. Nice little stopover that one.👍

The chippy opposite the beach won UK Chippy of the year a few years ago. It was also featured on Michael Portillo's Great Railway Journeys.

You'll also need to learn how to deep fry Mars Bars as the Carron chippy shown in the photos claims to have "invented" it!

The Carron was the only one open unfortunately, yes I saw the deep fried mars bar on the menu, they need to concentrate on making chips and batter instead of gimmicks. However lovely town Stonehaven

Great thread, enjoying your photos.
Have you been a FLT all the way ?
No, we stayed on a CL for a fiver a night, Kelpies £7.50, Falkirk Wheel £15 and you wouldn’t believe it but Caz said I have treated us and we are staying at the CMC site at Dunnet Bay, I tried to talk her out if it 😄
2 nights at £30 a night I won’t sleep for a week, possibly 2.

We have enjoyed a nice meal and a vintage port tonight, had a pint of stout in the brewery at John o groats too. Nice drop of stuff.

Goodnight all enjoying this trip glad everyone else appears to be too.

Lovely day here so much so I went for a little dip, I cannot post further photos they will come after the watershed😄. Too many southern softies around this is how a real Yorkshireman deals with adversity.

Who needs bloody Cyprus and Greece, pah.

Dunnet Bay beach the dogs love it.
Yip, ours loved it that much he found two dead seal pups at nearly either end of it to roll in!:Eeek:

Fortunately, washing facilities were just a ball throw away!:giggler:

Did you go for the walk through the woods? Lots of carved animals, etc along the trail.
