Hi.
Is someone using the Welsh RWG Mobile SIM card, and how it’s work while roaming in Europe (Data Cap etc)?
Thanks

Try search above put in rwg you will find a large thread started by googlebot about the rwg sim

See the other thread - I’m ‘roaming’ with it in the U.K. at the moment! Won’t know about performance in the EU until later next week, but as it’s already been registering itself with Vodafone and EE over here I think (hope!) it should do exactly the same with the networks over there.

EDIT: To add that this is the ‘Global’ 200gb data only SIM I’m using. Lenny HB has the standard mobile SIM from RWG so can better comment about that one.

I wanted to port over to RWG, but after waiting 2 weeks for a sim, I ended up with a 1pence mobile sim instead, the RWG sim eventually arrived another 2 weeks later

Just got back after 2 weeks with one. Worked great!

Once you hit 200GB it just stops working.

Thanks. Hope you aren't getting sunburnt. Hoping to get a ferry booked later on.

The phone sim uses EE.
Data one I think you have a choice of EE or Vodafone.

That’s correct, and the ‘Global’ data SIM that I have now has been roaming between Vodafone and EE here in the U.K.

Think this is what I am going to go for. I am happy to pay a bit extra for the UK roaming.

We have it at work on our iPads, funnily enough on an Irish SIM card for some reason and it’s hardly ever not got a signal. In fact, I can’t ever recall it not having one.

I have the RWG data only sim and it’s working a treat in the UK so far 👍

Speed is defiantly throttled in Spain, in my Mifi with MIMO aerial on the roof getting 6mb/s, my phone on the same network 42mb/s.

I am going to go for the global sim I think. If it turns out awful I will just cancel. I like the idea of UK roaming too, I will have the choice of 3 different networks with the mobile as well then.

Just a follow up on the data sim, I use a Teltonika RUT955 and when I chose the manual operator selection it presented me with all the 4 mainstream operators: O2, Vodafone, EE and Three and I could choose between them and tested all 4 and they all work 👍

We have switched both our phones to them and are finding it great in northern and mid Spain (Currently in zaragoza) but heading to the costas in the next few days.

For data only (use in MiFi), which one better when use in Europe?

My RWG phone sim in a Huawei router has been working well in France.

Just a word of caution over RWG, their customer service phone line is non existent - nobody ever answers, also I cancelled my order after being promised a refund - 19 days later I am still awaiting the refund, I have emailed numerous times without success

Strange because when I’ve used their contact form I’ve had a reply promptly, even last Sunday

And my refund for the Vodafone data SIM was processed promptly and back in my account within the expected timeframe.

They replied to my emails a couple of times saying the refund would be processed and in my account within 3 working days…..however here I am at 19 days still awaiting a refund
I also told them I was going to order a new SIM as soon as I receive the refund

Received refund today after more than 20 days - must have been an admin glitch 😳 so better late than never I assume so all good now 👍

My OH has an EE PAYG SIM which gives her a few Meg, unlimited texts, and a few hours of calls a month for £10. From early June though, they are starting to charge for roaming so I am thinking of getting her a RWG SIM. However, IIRC, it uses the EE network so I'm wondering if the unlimited roaming is likely to be short-lived. Anyone have their ear to the ground on this?

With regard to the 200GB RWG mobile contract ( calls & data), I got the following response to roaming in Switzerland

EU roaming only covers the 27 countries in the European Union and therefore does not include Switzerland.

Roaming in Switzerland costs:

10p/min, 10p/SMS and 10p/MB
.

Apparently RWG don't have access to EE's band 20 network. Which is EE's 800MHz signal which is primarily used to provide data to rural areas because it has the best reach (although not as much bandwidth). Not sure if this limitation also applies to their global SIM?
