Rvoc & mhf meet at rutland water - attendees list

That's why I was asking if you were going in on the Sunday/Monday Mavis.
If I can get a stand in, we'll arrive on the Thursday, if not it will be Friday.

Cheers for now,

Jock.

Oh thats good we wont be the only one early then --but if they are still setting up we will hide behind a hedge so that we dont get told off :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

Sorry Mavis, it'll be either Thursday 12th, or Friday 13th for us.

Cheers for now,

Jock.

Big up to one and all for sussing out a replacement venue at such short notice !!!:thumb::thumb::thumb: Link Removed Link Removed

If this fails, just think how many FUN lives will be saved.

Withdrawing due to weather risks

Sorry all.. we are withdrawing given the various weather forecast we have seen and JIM's warning and the fact the venue had to be changed.

Worried about the noise issue, the lack of an RV dump point.. but it is the weather due this weekend that has made our minds up.

Hope to see you all at Malvern

Thanks to our marshals for all they have done.. not there fault.

We were leaving it to the last minute to decide on this one, but mud, rain and two dogs don't mix well in a 12ft caravan .. so sadly we have decided it's a non starter..

This will be the second trip we have cancelled due to weather..

well done to the marshals for organising an alternative site at such short notice.. :thumb:

We are in the same quandry, mud, rain & dogs.... The weather is improving through the week, so the ground may dry a little. However the 10 day forecast still shows overcast & showers for next weekend. On the TV today, Silverstone was already getting cut up and bogged down.

In MK right now it's absolutely hammering down now and we have to drive MH to Leeds today for business weekend. Not sure if clients will be popping out or mopping out. Not looking forwards to the M1, that's for sure. :Eeek:

Its hammering it down here 30 odd miles away and has been since 7am:Sad:

sooooo fed up with all this rain:cry::cry::cry:

River Trent coming up 2 inches per hour. EA have issued severe flood warning for where we live

Waders will be coming out of the cupboard

raining hard in Kent

It is raining hard in Kent... more coming from the South to the midlands.

Bob

Just seen local lincolnshire news. South Lincs has had 2" rain in last 4 hours and is wettest in region. Not boding well but being optimistic will wait and see
Kath:Laughing:

Hmmm. I now have to figure out what to do from Sunday.

This is the first time as a fulltimer I haven't known where I will be in 2 days:Doh:

If the rally doesn't go ahead is anyone else up for a small impromptu get together somewhere from Sunday - Thursday?

It's a possibility Gromett. We'll see.

Oooh hell. New venue is a long way from the old one. If only I had known after the stratford show I wouldn't have headed so far north:Doh::Doh:. I am an hour up from Rutland parked within 2 miles of A1...

Nice job on finding a new location though :thumb:. I may not be able to make it that far South without knowing if 3G works ok or not:cry:

I will let you know Saturday. I need to speak to someone first.

We hope lots of Funsters can still attend at the new venue

It has been REALLY difficult finding somewhere suitable
AND available at such short notice

We decided that hard standing was vital even though the sun WILL shine soon
the ground is sodden everywhere ...

Long Marston Sport and Leisure is found at
Long Marston Airfield, six miles South of Stratford Upon Avon, just off of the B4632

See you there :thumb:

Good job finding yet another venue

Even though the hardstanding would be perfect for us, we are going to have to cry off this one as it will add far too much distance to what was going to be a shortened trip anyway

We are now replanning for what will be a mere long weekend stint at the Cheshire Show

thank you for hard work BUT

Thank you for your hard work...

But we will not be attending now.... we had to make a decision re Sue and her leave.. that had to be done by 10 a.m. this morning, she is now confirmed she is working next week.

Also from a personal point I wanted to visit Rutland water area... have done Stratford on Avon many times... but again that is just my personal observation..

I know the marshall's have done a very good job and I thank them... they have no control over the weather.

We hope you will all have a good time

Bob, Sue and Ezzie.. see you at Malvern

I've done similar to Gromett. I'm in Nottinghamshire, expecting it to be a short drive to Rutland. Looks like 3.5- 4 hours to Stratford but will give it a go.

Thanks for finding a site with hardstanding though--can appreciate how difficult that must have been.

Hopefully see you Sunday afternoon, depending on roads (I had forgotten just how much traffic there is on British roads!)

Firstly let me say that the Marshalls and everyone involved have done a fabulous job re finding a new venue and a hard standing one at that.:thumb::thumb:

Bad news is that as the new venue is 150 miles each way for us and we cant come until late Friday night its a little too far for us for Just a couple of nights.

Im sorry as I really would have loved to have come.

I hope all the funsters have a great time.

Sonja

My first reaction was

Sorry folks, please take us off the list.. Too far to travel for a weekend..
but then had a think and checked............it is only 40 odd miles further..

Like many I do tend to take in to account diesel costs.. So worked that out and should be able to do the round trip for £65.00.. A bit more than we budgeted for but hey, worth it !! LOL !!!

See ya allll there !

Actually..............

Do we know what facilities are there ?
Where the nearest shop is, elsan point, water etc ?

There is also a FUNCTION ROOM !!!

P.S Water and waste facilities are on the site
(all part of being 'suitable')

yes, very well done from us too.

we will still come albeit a fair trek for us... 340miles round trip:Smile: not even going to work out how much fuel will cost, otherwise we won't get off the drive!!!
are there shops near by ie walking distance as we may well leave the car at home to cut down on fuel usage
please advise

many many thanks

Hi Bob and Jane, Thank you so much for all your hard work. You deserve medals.

Sorry but it is now too far for me to go to as I have already bought tickets for the Northern Show and it would totally throw my schedult out with regard to looking after mum ..... even though this blasted rain has cost me dearly .... I have already paid for her to go in respite tomorrow for the week and I can't get my money back at this late date.

Hope you all have a wonderful time ... sometimes when it has been so hard to achieve something it makes it all the more worth while .... Best wishes. Joy xx

Thank you for making the effort and travelling that extra mile or two. It makes it all worth while, when we have funsters that appreciate our efforts and still make that journey to enjoy a bit of fun.

That phone call to Long Marston was my last - it would have been a cancellation had that not worked out.

Nothing lost, we are still having a gathering from 8th to 15th which was the original plan, so nothing changed there, just the venue. We will have a function room instead of a barn and it's a pound cheaper per night, can't be bad.

It's a shame that it is further for northerners to travel, if we could have kept it the same area we would have done. Unfortunately we can't please all of the people all of the time.

So don't be put off, we still want you to turn up and enjoy the fun.

Safe travels wherever you are coming from. See you soon.

Nigel and Pamala
