Run to the sun….

You should run the aircon on every time you use the van unless you want expensive repair bills. Not using it is the easiest way of buggering it.
Heres a question....my van is posh so rather than aircon it has automatic climate control. It needs regassed . But aircon normally increases fuel consumption . At which point on my temp dial do you think it would activate the aircon ?

It should work at all temperatures, the lower the harder it will work.
Even with the age of your van the effect on fuel consumption will be minimum, less than ½ mpg and the dawgs will love it.
A far cry from the old days in the 60's when it would cost you a few mpg.

Its always on auto when we're driving anyway and set at 18° which is reasonably cold but not freezing . As I said I think it'd needing regassed at best but possibly more as obviously not been used in 12 years

O thats a good idea just keep the stereo from van to van :roflmto:
Yeah I just put the old one from this van in to moby and the one from moby in to this. That's the handy thing with older vans lol .. all single din stereos.

It has Bluetooth hands free and does what I need it to so all good

Done some electrical work on the van today and Lenny HB will be pleased to know that I’ve change the inverter leads to 25mm
Which now runs fine without getting the leads hot, I inspected that one joint that was getting hot and for some reason it looked as if the wire right on the joint was breaking down..? Could be to do with it getting hot that was causing it but it’s all good now..

I also reconfigured the starter battery wiring where the b2b was fitted and taped up some joints and rerouted the live and now it’s coming off the positive and not through the large fuse… and that will please MichaelT …. See, I do take advice and learn from it….😎

I also fitted another earth lead (now 2) just tobesure tobesure….🙂

That is so true. Air conditioning always on auto, even if you then have the temperature at 24 the compressor is still running and circulating that all important lubrication throughout the system.

If it needs a re-gas, it has a leak. Probably because the previous owner only used it in the summer. So first job is to find the leak and fix it.

We don't eat out often down at the coast because we don't visit the coast much, we prefer the mountains.

We've eaten at Gran Mundo though and also Yaho. They're both Asian Fusion, not seafood restaurants.

I read, on our resort Facebook a few weeks ago, someone raving about a seafood meal they'd had at the coast. I'll try to find it.

But you were of course right, it was blaring me in the face when you mentioned the lugs by the fuse….🤦🏻

I think if you press Eco, it turns the climate control off. At least that’s what it did in my older Mercedes and BMWs. If I’m wrong I’m sure someone will tell me, but if not you can still avoid the impact on fuel consumption if you want to.

It sat unmoved for 12 years. It's just not freezing cold.

It does, but not when it's in the "Auto" mode.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Since yours is an automatic have you done the mod re the heater outlet in the driver's foot well.

I did take off the cover that is there but it’s not my feet that gets cold…😳

In the winter it just doesn’t seem to get warm, next time I’m thinking of putting a cover over the main front grille ….🤔
