Ripe Insurance Funster Discount is Now Live

Yes. But not bought anything as yet. Currently with Lv.
If you move you probably won't be able to go back to LV as they no longer take on new business for Motorhomes and I think LV are the only company that will give you full cover for Morocco.

Yes , we were aware of that. Just trying Ripe out for prices. They were better on the comparison website for companies that are on that site but still not giving the 15% discount through the link.
So reviewing. Also Ripe have stepped limits for windscreens. Doesn't really affect us but there are extras. Just need to review thier conditions.

Just tried to renew our multi vehicle policy with LV car + campervan. Despite the e:mail saying we could renew, the real person at LV said they were no longer renewing MHs/campervans at al, at any price. If I had tried to renew online it would have refused. Bother ... or words to that effect.

Just been on the phone today to Lv and requested a revised renewal as I had a multi cover with the Mhome and car and wanted to remove the car.plus change the van mileage.
No issues with renewal and received a revised renewal price by e mail within a few minutes.
Just have to pay it now.

Sue try NFU out at Brasswell, their head office is in CD but it the girl at Brasswell I’ve dealt with.

lorger - Gerry, NFU was the first one I tried but they couldn't cover the auld yin! Think I will have to trade him in for a newer model :giggler:
Off to try Ripe now.

Are you sure about that? Tests I've done show that the discount is meaningful.

Can we get a few of you to test it. Get a quote from a comparison site and then, after clearing cookies, get a quote using the discount link, make sure you use the exact details for both. Cheers.
Did that as we’ve now found a Campervan to buy, got a price through MoneySuperMarket and it gave me a 20% discount.
Came on here to check the company out, found this thread, and did a quote through our link, and whilst it worked it only gave me the 15% discount.

As a company though, their price was very good compared to the usual suspects, and I was able to tailor it to our needs, so based on their Trustpilot recommendations and the fact that they’re reccomended on this forum, I’ll be going for it….but with the 20% discount😉👍

……might be worth re-negotiating the club discount😉

I have gone with Ripe this year.Straightforward quote and I got my 15% discount.
Some forumites have mentioned Ripe being very fussy over proof of no claims years.
My insurance has been active for about 5 weeks now and have heard nothing.
The value of my van would be a maximum of say 25k so perhaps that explains it?

Just did a quote through them (MoneySuperMarket) and then selected the link to Ripe. I think I had to enter MoneySuperMarket through google having clicked it on a search for campervan insurance 👍

I’ve just purchased my insurance through Ripe, with the discount😉😎

Should anyone so desire, if you were to buy a policy through this link, I’ll get a £100 Amazon voucher👍😎. I think you get summat too👍

Friend just gets the 15% discount you will eventually get e-voucher

I have just RENEWED my Camprvan insurance with Ripe, but they only give the discount on new business and not renewals. (Well I did get my 20% last year!)
"(13:32:24) Bailey: Hi Martin, we don't offer this discount for renewals I'm afraid. This is only for your first year with us."

I have spoken to a broker and he said at the moment most companies are struggling to compete with Ripes qoutes, he then went onto say that the method they have used to get qoutes so low off the underwriters is not sustainable, they are after market share and then will put the prices up on renewal....hoping a percentage will stay loyal....could be fact or fiction, only time will tell.

I'm on the insurance merry-go-round at the moment, did a quote with Ripe (using MHF link) and they don't include some countries such as Andorra and Switzerland in their European cover unless you pay another £83, then their NCD protection is another £83! Their cover for personal items is low too. Once I'd matched the cover with our existing policy it was way more expensive than others with better cover.

Their breakdown only covers 60 days in the EU but the insurance covers 90 days 🤔🙄🤪

I wonder how many people don't realise! 😳

Ripe won’t insure if you have added solar panels. It’s not on their list of modifications and they won’t accept others. I’ve just been on for a quote.

Odd - when declaring a self build there are no questions or restrictions on solar panels, certainly not in the policy docs I read
Whats the wording? I mean, if you added a USB socket is that on the list as well for example?

My statement of insurance and docs no not mention solar or restricted modifications.

Quotes from mine, which I accept says self build, but they were the most friendly in this respect:-

So may be worth a call and/or read of the documentation - solar may not be deemed a mod? (what else is in the list? If its all engine/suspension/performance etc.....)

You should've gone through TopCashBack - and got 20% discount but the 10% comission they pay to MSE goes to you

(I actually got 25% off and 10% cash back (dodgy link manipulation technique!) but it worked and paid out)

If you don't use TCB using my RAF link you'd get £10 as well - https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/yourithelp - so you could've got a bonus £35....

TCB is worth having - here is my account - your choice between getting the cash/affiliate links, or the advertisers like MSE or any other site (incl this one, sorry Jim!). £5.5k of free money.... They also list some discount codes, so recently boughy loads of aliexpress with 12% cashback and 15% ish off prices.... etc etc

Not so have been with them 2yrs now ,and make a point of listing all "mods" and ring them (Garry)before going ahead just to clarify and no probs insuring

Does anybody have any experience with or info on the breakdown available through ripe please?
