Ripe Insurance Funster Discount is Now Live

They are not interested in over 80s so it's back to AIB for me.

Phoned Ripe for a quote as it wouldn't let me do it online. Unfortunately as we park our van on the road, even though it is outside our house, they were unable to quote so we wont be able to benefit from the discount. Adrian Flux appear to be the best quote yet, but I am waiting to hear from the CAMC as they may be able to match it, or beat it.

Ripe have now finished with all the introductory discounts, making the 15% they offer us the best deal that you can get with them.

If you follow this link the Funster 15% is baked into the page. This is a genuine 15%. Try it if you like, use a browser in private mode, go to their front page and get a quote. Then come out and follow the link above, and you'll see the 15% Funster Discount is applied and genuine. (y). Thank you Ripe

My insurance is due in October so I did a quote. It halved my premium!!!! This is brilliant. Thank you Jim!

I have just had a quote and it was £200 cheaper than comfort insurance but and a big but I tried phoning them to check on size restrictions on vehicle recovery but can’t get in contact, 6 time I got cut off and don’t really want to deal with a firm you can’t contact

After reading trust pilot reviews 2 star over all and 93% of the reviews only give it 1 star , very cheap quote but personally after what I have read it’s definitely a big no from me

Got a reply from CAMC...what a bunch of muppets they are...said the best they could do was £80 more expensive than the Adrian Flux quote but would I like to go ahead anyway...er.. NO. No wonder people are leaving the CAMC

They quoted me £1550. Jog on….

Just about to renew mine today. Comparethemarket.com has quoted a cheaper price for the same Ripe policy than going direct through the Ripe website even including the 15% discount ?

They were dearer than lv for an inferior quote and did not even phone me back

Online quote system only quotes up to £100k which is strange given ERS are one of the only UK underwriters who have an appetite for high value vehicles. I shall give them a call.

Thanks so much. Our renewal had just come through with Lancaster and had gone up a significant amount. Went onto the Ripe link and our like for like quote came in at £286.31 saving us £230.56.

Quick question to those that have gone ahead with a Ripe policy, I am reading on the Trustpilot reviews that people are having problems getting their proof of NCD approved by Ripe as they are not accepting the number of years stated on renewal documents but are insisting on a certificate from your current insurer. Has anyone here had an issue with that or have they sorted it out now? I thought that these days the insurance companies could see how much NCD you have automatically on their systems.

Has anybody got a decent telephone number for them thanks

I had that problem too but I found you can put none-retired for industry and retired for occupation.

One thing to note on the breakdown is that you are only covered out of the UK for 60 day trips and only a total of 90 days in the policy year. I'm not sure of you can buy an extension or not but this will be a limiting factor for many Funsters, as far as the breakdown cover is concerned, although other than that it actually looks to be good cover.

Just received my renewal from AiB which includes MHF discount £563. This compares with £518 from CMHC. Both through AXA insurance. Just did quote on RIPE £360 includes MHF discount. £200 cheaper, alarm bells, how can they be so cheap (value of MH £65k). Be interested to hear from anyone who had made a claim with RIPE.

Not had a claim with them .
But took out a policy with them back in January after motorhome protect (part of the markerstudy group) decided to almost double my then policy ,claim free and 9yrs ncd protected.
I thought the same re price but after speaking to them they suited my needs so went for it .
Should you want to go ahead I can also send a link for 20% discount on sign up.

Will only know what any insurance company is like when you need to claim.

Thanks jollyroger for your response.

Your very last paragraph is exactly the reason for my hesitancy. The last thing anyone wants in the unfortunate event of having to make a claim is, hassle and obfuscation at a time of great stress, especially when dealing with a claim for what could be tens of thousands of pounds.

Like I say it would be great, not just for me but, for many I’m sure who are attracted by the extremely low premiums being quoted by RIPE to hear a real life experience of their claim handling dept.

One last thing, who are the underwriters for RIPE. Can’t seem to see this on the docs received.

Thanks once again.
