Rally RETROFESTIVAL NEWBURY AUGUST 2017

Look forward to it, I'm quite approachable even if I do look a bit miserable :)

SWMBO is the happy face :D

I should be ok my hair is the same colour as your foxes. :D

Morning folks, shame there was no music last night like last year, so looks like extra dancing tonight to make up for it.

Nice evening last night a long chat with Phil @Taran_Las, feeling a bit fragile this morning somthing to do with gin, beer & wine a I blame Sonia opening another bottle of wine at near midnight.

There was some geezer in the tent by the now infamous pizza place doing Elvis Etc :D

Apparently there was a band on in the Black Hanger Stage but only on from 8 until 9 missed them too busy talking and boozing.

Any body recognise this pair of well dressed dudes

A good night dancing all evening to the Swing Commanders, their music was a bit laid back as there weren't that many dancers on the floor. Finished off the evening in the rock n roll tent and then for the 2nd night running opened a bottle of red wine at midnight, getting to be a bad habit.

I've never been on a helicopter so Alice is treating me to a flight over The Newbury Showground today. We are scheduled at 1100, so Funsters at Newbury please wave from the auction and Jacobs table. We'll get back as soon as we can to bid, and I'll hopefully have a Funsters group photo from above!

Chris of Chrysalis

just a quick heads up for those who don't know, the jacobs table, auction etc is happening at 11am this morning so please spread the word for those who don't know..

(i thought it was midday, would have hated to miss it and a few dave spoke to thought it was tomorrow)

We also thought it was 1200. Please save some auction lots, or keep the bidding going! We'll get back asap from the chopper, too late to change that I'm afraid

As many know there was interrupted EHU on site. The final answer to the electric problem appears to be resolved now. Once the load was resolved we still had trip outs - this was on only one phase of the supply this was traced back to one bank and finally to one campers EHU lead which was found to be damaged and therefore tripping the circuit to earth. Being as the fault was outside the vehicle it tripped the whole phase out rather than the vehicle. Proved the need to make sure our EHU leads are in tip top condition. One bad lead means interrupted supply for 40 campers !

Thanks to those involved in resolving it. We only really need 240v for the Tassimo, but without that first cup in the morning I'm apparently less of a Funster. The Truma electric water heater did not like frequent interruptions though. I had to go into settings and reset the controls. Please note this is not a grumpy complaint, just info in case others have not noticed if their water heaters are not working!

You know who your true funster friends are when you mention to them you are running low on red wine .
Then miraculous when you are away from your van a 3lt box of Merlot appears inside the van.
A big thank you to that man.:D

Many thanks to the marshals for their hard work and helpfulNess
We enjoyed ourselves looking forward to the next time

Jan & mike .

Hi Guys
Taking a liberty here.
We are off to Twin Lakes in Sept, not for the whole rally but would like to spend some time on the way down 'having a look around'. Mont St Michel on the agenda and prob La Rochelle.
We land in Cherbourg so I'm wondering if there's anybody at this rally that are regular visitors to France could spare me 20 mins with my map to point out what we should consider seeing.

Give me call. Very first european van by the reseeded gate. My forum name is in one of the van's windows. I'll help if I can.

Can help with Mt St Michel, regular visitors. We are down on the back fence, 4th from right end as you face. Name is on side window if any use.
