Hey guys!

I've burned through my little 6kg calor bottle pretty quickly with this cold weather.

I had heard that it was possible and or cheaper to have a log refillable tank installed?

Would you have any advice on how this is done?

Many thanks

Luke

I've only ever been checked once at a Asda in Derby - but no problem
I avoid all Total garages in France because they seem to get pissy whenever they see a motorhome.
Other than that I have never had a problem with my Safefill here or in Europe

Fair enough but for the amount of money it costs to get one (fitting is pretty easy) its worth considering. Also makes filling an less faffy job.

It all depends how you use the Motorhome if you spend your time mainly on site with hook up theres no point in investing in refill cylinders.

With the way electricity prices are rising site prices are going to rise for EHU, so still worth while.

Thankyou everyone!

I would like to go for a safefill one, as it seems easier. And it can just go in my locker where the calor gas was, but there are none available on their website :(

If anyone has one or knows where I can get one I would be happy to pay

You won’t get 12 litres of gas in a 6 kg bottle they only fill to 80% coz of vapourisation
I beg to differ too! My Safefill is rated at 7.5kg yet i’ve just stuck 13.58lt in it.

I bought mine maybe 18months ago. They were hard to find then but, the situation does change! Apparently they are made abroad and shipped in so time it right, and you’ll be ok.
I got mine from Lodge Farm Leisure at Lowdham, Notts.

I’ve recently installed 2x Alugas 11kg cylinders with an external filler in the skirt of our van. On the way to our first shakedown weekend we stopped at Sainsbury’s in Taunton and filled up with 43.41 litres of autogas @ 59.9p/litre = £26.00 in total. I topped up on the way home after some heavy use of the heating over two days due to the subzero temperatures and it took £5.85 worth - also included cooking as well but the fridge is electric only.

Both pumps had prominent notices on them stating ‘No Adapters To Be Used’.

A lot cheaper than exchange bottles then

That is to stop people filling exchange cylinders which are not designed for refilling.

Way cheaper. I’m going to the Calor Distribution Centre in Exeter tomorrow to exchange a couple of 6kg cylinders - we have a trade account - so it will be interesting to do a comparison.

I can’t comment on other systems but with Safefill, it fits directly to the Autogas fillers at Morrisons. No adapters required….

We rarely top up with LPG close to home, we normally top up when on the road going to or from home or on route when touring.

Morrisons nozzle is the worst I've come across. It's just too big and ugly. I'd sooner go elsewhere if possible.

They've had it a while. I used it twice earlier this year. It certainly didn't look new!
It's been there years and years Tony. ;)

Last time I was in, I asked the staff member about the unusual dispensing nozzle. Apparently their main customers for Autogas in the early days were ARVs, hence the American style nozzle, which then requires the UK bayonet adapter.

Cheers,

Jock. :)
