Pitch etiquette

Child free sites whenever possible 👍
You can’t really blame just the kids though! We were at Malvern Hills site earlier and the adults from a number of units just amble over and walk alongside the Motorhome! We ended up putting little dog on the side and she with the help of her growling…stopped it!
Etiquette ? What Etiquette?

Need a bigger dog ! :giggle:;)(y)

Motorhomefun eh

Just goes to show how this forum reflects real life - you get all sorts and makes your choices accordingly.

Threatening to kill an innocent dog as its owner is inconsiderate is inappropriate.

You condone it if you like I don't

I'm sorry - in no way was I condoning anything, just pointing out that this forum reflects real life in that the views and actions of the "funsters" who post on here cover a wide spectrum. I guess that's why we have the ignore button.

Yep , agree, we really shouldn’t be killing dogs or people on campsites.
Lets all have fun and chill , preferably with beer or wine if thats your tipple.

Well my pitch etiquette went a little when I yelled at a couple last weekend! :giggle: My exact words were “ if you don’t shut that f#cking dog up I’ll come over there and stamp on its f#cking head”! The bastard thing never shut up for at least an hour until my “advice”. Bark bark bark bark yap yap yap yap bark bark bark yap yap yap! They said they’d report me to the warden, I replied carry on then and we will see who gets thrown off first! Shall I go and get them for you? They didn’t and strangely the dog was a lot quieter after that.:giggle: I did get a round of applause from other pitch occupants who had obviously also had enough of its non stop noise!
Just to clarify I obviously wouldn’t have stamped on it but was trying to get my point across to the ignorant owners.

Well done to you 👍👍👍

I’m all for live and let live, but I simply cannot stand why dog owners just sit on there arses oblivious to their dogs barking/yapping all day.

Why??????

I love dogs, infact most animals, but it would drive me crazy if it barked all day, infact it wouldn’t if it was mine 😉

Let's start with I like dogs, I don't have one as I would not be fair to it, they need plenty of exercise, and not be left alone, in saying that I have asked dog owners not to let dogs per on my hedge , s--t on the grass and said train them to do it on the road gutter, some owners laugh some verbal, as for walking over pitches, peeing and shi---ng over awnings or pitches it the Owners that want training as well
Some of them would sh*t in your best hat!

Apology accepted

Keep the faith. My lived experience of many years family camping, more years sailing and now a few years motor homing is that the dickheads are fewer and further between then you might think if you just judged things by what you read here. It's social media after all and there's always people looking to express their faux outrage at any opportunity.

Last year a woman with a dog on an extending lead watched while it came and had a mooch under our awning.

The dog then took a dump next to my table and chair.

I was inside with the window open. I told the woman that, even though she picked up, it was disgusting. She shrugged and said that it’s what dogs do. 🤬🤬

No it’s not my favourite spectator sport either it may be what dogs do but the owners let them that’s the problem! Some people kids included sit and play on the grass around their pitches, and it’s not possible to scrape every bit up . Your right it is disgusting.

I know the feeling this one’s back and fore Al day no peace and his mates are making a hell of a noise while I’m trying to drink
My beer in peace at least they don’t play football

On a CCC site and yesterday someone’s incontinent dog takes a dump between ours and the neighbours pitch close enough to their car that their kids would almost certainly find it when getting in the car.
The owner picked up the first and second lot but didn’t notice the third drop. I said excuse me but there is more to pick up an was told no it’s just a leaf. After showing them where it was the lady picked it up and goes into a mini rant that it wasn’t left on purpose! I told her straight that I hadn’t made any accusations just to point out the missed dump.
Really pi**es me off when people become arrogant when they had the ability to avoid the situation completely ie use the dog walk before exercising it around everyone else’s pitch.

Electric fence a good idea ! What about a trip wire just as a back up ! Worst I had was when the people on opposite pitch dragged their bull dog over onto our pitch to empty it's bowel on our pitch !
Beggars belief she saw me looking and just shouted sorry ! I mean what's that all about disgusting
Take a shovel and deposit back on theirs, hopefully close to where they step out the door.😝

Ah!

this took me back to the 70's when my neighbour used to open his side door to let the dog out which duly used to come across the drive and sh!t on my front lawn, i'd asked hime several times to stop doing this, the owner not the dog btw, but it fell on deaf ears.

So one day after saving up 2/3 days worth of his dogs sh!t I wrapped it up in news paper, put it down on his door step, set fire to it and knocked on his door.

Standing back a little bit I then watched him open the door, stamp on the fire to put it out and shit went everywhere.

Result, I never had to do it again

It is depressing yes! It’s depressing that I feel stressed and angry that an owner hasn’t controlled there dog and it’s pi$$ed on are expensive awning that the kids have to sleep in. That cost us lots of money. All because they haven’t A - kept dog on lead B - controlled dog on the lead. The times it’s happened we simply get a sorry. No offer to clean it up.

That is the amateur way.

The professional way is to wrap it in newspaper, place on step, set the paper alight, knock on door and watch as they open door and are compelled to stamp out the burning paper. Job done.

A few years back we chugged up from Plymouth to explore the Thames. We moored for an afternoon break at Chertsey Meads. The dog (Lab) immediately shot off the boat making a B line for a family picnic beautifully laid out on the grass swiped a bread roll and charged off with it. It's not anything she has ever done before but naturally we were both mortified. Fortunately the lady of the group took it in good heart and shouted after the dog 'would you like some salmon with that?' We made our apologies and gave them a couple of bottles of wine to cover our embarrasment!!

Maybe not pitch etiquette but once when staying at C&CC site at West Runton the fish and chip parked about 3ft from our pitch and the customers used our pitch as a queuing area. Had a moan at the site rep and asked why the van was not parked at reception only to be told that it always parked there and a lot of b******s about not being able to provide power at the reception area
