Rally Pickering 5 night rally Thurs 25th July 2019 ( FULL)

Debs & andy63 payment sent.

As you know, I had been holding off so as to keep the admin simple if Jane's health meant we had to cancel. 5 weeks to go & fingers crossed all good so far. We are both looking forward to the weekend.

A lot can change in 5 weeks, so those towards the top of the reserve list shouldn't despair just yet.

Full payment is required by Mon 24 June. Sadly I know that plans can change and in the event of a cancellation refunds will be made once your place has been taken. If it's not taken by anyone else then it will count towards the rally fee as a set amount has to be covered.

Sorry to hear that Andy, but at least given what Debs wrote on the first post & looking at the size of the reserve list, I doubt you will be out of pocket it you do have to change your plans, even at the last minute. Hope it doesn't come to that though.

All four of our parents have been gone for a while. The health issues have just moved down to the next generation! :(

Yep - not seen any MHF friends for a while, so will be great to have a catch up. Fingers crossed all round!

As most of you know Pickering is a favourite spot of ours. in fact we are moving there next year all being well.
We’ve just got back from a nice weekend break there with our twins Isaac and Isabel and their partners. We stayed on Colin’s campsite Mount Terrace where we are having Debs rally. Here’s a few pics of the site .

Colin’s house at the back in this Pic. This is his CL area , where you’d stay if you weren’t on a rally there.
We love it . 10 min walk and your in Pickering . You have to Walk up to Colin’s house for water/Elsan .
You can’t get your van up , as Deb has already said.
So you’ll need water containers .

The trains run right past the site . Toot toot !

This is the nice walk through the woods along side the track where you can get some great pics of the steam train and the dogs can swim in the water.

We’ve left Colin cutting his fields .
Just a thought , putting it out there ......
As we all have to take our rubbish away with us and we are there 5 days , Ralph thought about hiring a skip Debs .
Obviously everyone would have to contribute to it . But it would save having bin bags of rubbish all over the shop . What do you think ?
Ralph could price one up and organize it .
He was working on an 8 yard skip which he thinks we’d need for the 5 days.
It’d roughly be £220 so between 30 units it’d be around £7.50 each .

We’d certainly pay £7.50 sos not to have to take all our the rubbish back home with us ?
It’s not as though we could all dump rubbish in the waste bins around the town , and as you say Colin hasn’t the bins.
People could still recycle tins and bottles ? Or at least squash everything down to save skip space.

But everyone would have to Contribute of course to get the skip . He doesn’t think a smaller one would be big enough.
What do you think ?

Ta for taking the time to take pics & post this Bev?

I think that's a great idea as rubbish produced over 5 days could get to be quite a problem for those that haven't a garage in their van.

As you say everyone needs to agree to contribute - what do you think folks??

Would you be happy to pay £7.50 (approx) for a skip??

Happy with the skip hire idea..? but cant help thinking it will be a miracle if everyone agrees...
Andy
Ps..lovely pictures bev

Well , if everyone’s in agreement Ralph will organise one . Then everyone can pay to his account online . Let’s see if everyone is in agreement.
Saying that , we best ring Colin tomorrow and see if he’s ok putting one somewhere first.
We may stumble at the first post , he won’t want it damaging his grass I’m sure.
Maybe down by the gate ....

I am just working out how big my garage is and see if I can undercut the skip charge and bring it all home myself :)

serious question though, is there recycling on site?

No
Tap and Elsan . That’s it. Even on the CL site, no bins.

on another technical point to my other Bev :)

I thought I read that no groundsheets are allowed, was anything said about your tent?

Only asking as we would like our awning up and prefer it with a groundsheet, saves my feet getting wet when having first coffee in jarmies

You have a fair side black waste tank as well David.. I'll gladly pay you a couple quid to empty my casette if it saves a hike to the house... you could leave this rally in pocket..???

Hi
I think a skip is overkill for 30 bags of rubbish. How much rubbish do you generate? :Eeek: We would probably have half a black bin bag at most. We don't fill a wheely bin over 2 weeks. Especially as bottles will be recycled. But if everyone wants a skip OK.

I’m happy to contribute to skip hire.
And Cal54 is too.

No he doesn’t do tents usually, only the odd pup tent ( he made an exception as it was 2nights and we’ve been many times over the years before ) and yes there’s a strict no ground sheet rule.
As for one bin bag a week , to say we only had breakfast on site over the weekend, and ate out for other meals . We had more than one bin bag . Granted most of it was bottles and cans .....??
We just thought over the 5 days , it would be easier for everyone.
If people only have 1 bin bag per unit we could get a smaller 6 yard one , which would be cheaper about £180.
So that’d be £6 per unit. But as I said Ralph will check that Colin will let us put one somewhere tomorrow.
It’s just an idea. As we will be going off site most days in Pug we would find somewhere to take ours and get rid of it Stealthily out of Pickering . But not everyone will be doing that.
It’s just a thought.

the cost per unit really brings it home how much waste we generate

We recycle as much as we can and typically take home more recycling than we leave in rubbish at meets

I think it is a great idea, but we would also take our rubbish home with us along with our recycling rather than use the skip option, that equates to half a litre of gin (y)

We take our rubbish home too

Ok.☺
We won’t bother doing it , the more don’t want to chip in the more it costs .
But please don’t use the bins at the end of the drive as they’re the scout huts and stations bins . Not the campsites and your specifically told not to use them when on the CL .
No probs. Let’s hope we’ve a lovely sunny weekend like this was . I’m sure everyone will have a lovely time.

I think it was a good idea - just a bit overpriced, especially for someone like myself who really doesn't generate that much rubbish... I'd be surprised if I have a full black sack.

We would pay if a skip was possible , if it’s a heatwave I don’t really want five days of rotting food and waste in the garage!!
