Perfect 2021 Trip

So hypothetical question time. So next summer, everything is back to normal, we are all vaccinated and there are no brexit issues. What’s your big trip of 2021 going to be?
Finding a motorhome to buy at a respectable price & finally getting out of the country to somewhere warmer & less crowded

somewhere with mountains. I had my maps and guidebooks out for the lofoten islands a couple of nights ago. I flew there for 3 weeks in 2015 for a climbing trip. Hoping to go for a couple of months this time. Truly the most beautiful place I've ever been. Possibly visit the sunnmore alps on the way there and maybe the tatras or the carnic peace trail in austria in september. Head home, pack the van for ski season and head back to Europe 😎

We’re going to try and rehash this years plans and head off to Switzerland / Northern Italy and up to the Italian Lakes and the Dolomites. One thing this year has taught me is not to second guess what’s round the corner and plan your next holiday like it’s going to be your last!!! We funsters should blaze a trail for the rest of the community supporting each other as we do with best practice and shared information and advice.

Now that sounds really mouthwatering! I’ll be getting my maps out in a minute!!

Drive to the Algarve via northern Portugal, pick daughter and husband up somewhere along the route as they will be flying in, after two weeks they leave us and then?

Any recommendations for Croatia and Slovenia both on our list for next year?
Just having a bit of plan for Slovenia ourselves now.
Most picturesque lake we have seen is a free overnight on the Italian/Slovenian/Austrian border at Lago di Fusine

I don't know about camping/parking sites there. But I went to Croatia a number of years ago. There is a national park at paklenica. I was there climbing but I believe there is walking there too. Also did a multi day huhh ridigh hut to hut trek in the Julian alps from bohini bistrica to krans gora

Did a 9 day high ridge hut to hut trek in the Julian alps from bohini bistrica to kranjska gora. Both places I would like to see more of.

Looks stunning
Think you have access to the Germany map from last year.

I m going to be updating it with Slovenia planning, as fairly certain our June holiday will be down there now (all things permitting)

Sounds good.,

Once place we want to go to is the Soca Valley it reminds me very much of parts of New Zealand and good flyfishing and watersports if so inclined.

I ve been on that road vicariously through google maps.

Little to no information on here (MHF) is quite surprising. Havent found a dedicated thread and only half a dozen photos on the photo of the day thread. Aires seem expensive on search4sites so looks like an acsi job (41 of them)

Your description of NZ is spot on.

Wondering what the wilding opportunities are and thinking a dedicated thread beforehand (even now to to try to garner the info)

I've spent a fair bit of time paragliding in Slovenia, including helping a mate who runs a hang/paragliding guiding operation

A couple of picture of Bohinj & the Soca Valley

Get a ferry and follow the sun, that's the advantage of a Motorhome don't need to do pla
Eightweeks in Norway. Booked the out and back tunnel and ferry end April (flexible tickets). We have an overall broad plan of what we want to experience and a rough route but leave plenty of room for flexibility. For us the planning process is very much part of our trip. We often try and link our trips with local events like Le Mans, PGA tournament, jazz event or whatever. Great that we have a different take.

When you going? I’m heading that way in June👍

I think its the 13th June for 28 days.
Its all weather dependant but if its warm elsewhere it will be warm there so i dont really see a reason not to go (all things being equal and CV etc)
We will do a bit of Austria either on the way down or the way back around Millstat and probably to Salzberg as well but not too much travelling in the motorhome when we are around there.
Will go to Ljubliana, Bled, Soca valley, Triglavski park and the road of 100 hairpins, Austria will involve Millstat and Salzberg but not thinking Glossglockner this time (which is so worthy if going over the Alps)

I’d be happy in York, restaurants and pubs galore, even better with a bit of sunshine.

Ahh ok, we will probably pop into the aire at Lago di Fusine on the 10th or 20th either on the way to Croatia or on the way back! Hoping for a few days in Austria and of course Mrs Westys favourite place on earth, Rothenburg ob der Tauber on the way back👍 Alas we’ve only got three weeks, so a week down, week there and a week back👍
