I enjoyed reading Deneb on this thread - she clearly has expertise.

Thank you, but I just consider myself to be a person of reasonable intelligence, who reads widely and doesn't believe anything I read, see or hear without investigating and verifying it first.

My wife was employed by the NHS for 43 years though, my eldest son's in-laws are a GP and a regional director of PHE, so I do have some personal knowledge "of life on the inside".

My own career involved gathering evidence and preparing expert reports for criminal proceedings in which I had to give opinions based on the likely and assessed weight of evidence and known facts, so I suppose that also drives me to test and verify claims by the media and elsewhere.

One thing I have not yet managed to do though is to give myself a gender change

He did, but as inference that a cloth face covering was no more useful than a single sheet of kitchen paper.

I thought he would be interested to know that even kitchen paper has some filtrational properties, and it's surely basic schoolboy/girl science that any barrier placed across an air current or flow of particles will have some effect, even if very minor, contrary to some claims here that 100% of the wearer's exhaled air will escape around the sides of a face covering with exactly the same force, projection, number and concentration of particles as if it wasn't there.
