On the road again.

Well guys got something for you today, been to cite Europe today. I know we shouldn't but havnt been for three years so thought we would have a look see if it's changed, anyway we were away about half an hour, when we got back to the van the sliding door was closed but not locked, thought that's strange but didn't think much about it till we got in and the bedding was on a ruck, still didn't cotton on completely but I went round to the back doors to try them and lo and behold a pair of feet sticking out, and there he was squashed his self under the seats, anyway I stuck my keys in him as hard as I could shouting at him, Julie's in the van filming him getting from under the seat.
Crazy stuff, but as soon as we had turfed him out the police arrive but he was well gone.
Havnt a clue how he got in ,he had somehow opened the sliding door without a scratch onit, without the other doors unlocked, door still works as normal .

Wow!!!

Well sorted! ✔️

I suspect we have all been guilty of that - emerge from tunnel or drive off the ferry and then head off.

There's a lot to see in Northern France. As we invariable cross from Plymouth to Roscoff we know Brittany and Normandy well. The bit around Calais/Boulogne sadly, hardly at all.
I've got three weeks in Normandy and Brittany in June, no plans to go further south unless the weather is wet.
I'm planning on trawling through your previous threads for ideas as you always seem to find interesting places 😃

Right we are back at gravelines now and it's all falling into place , the police seemed to think there had been two of them they had seen, so it looks to me they had both got in through the window, then found there wasn't room for both of them so the other one must have let himself out of the door seeing there isn't a mark or any damage to it.

Home tomorrow so round to Lidl next, stock up on some wine
Probably too late Charlie, but we've just been in LeClerc at Le Fleche, south of Le Mans. And they have 3 litre boxes of JP Chenet Merlot and Cabernet Syrah at 30% off.... working out at €7.40 a box, €1.85 or about £1.55 a bottle. Nice wine too!!

I don't know if their promotions are chain wide or just individual stores

Well done with the stowaway!!
Yeah we have been in Carrefour today where we used to buy decent enough wine for us for about one euro 50 but now there isn't much less than 4.00

Well I have pretty much always poo pooed this immigrant thing, never having seen much of in gravelines but know it used to be rife at cite Europe and it seems it still is.
We always thought there is no way anyone could stow away in our small space it seems they can get in anywhere but there was no way he could do it unnoticed, so anyway it turns out a bit of experience for us ,no damage done and we shan't be going back to cite Europe in a hurry (y)

Did you call the police or were they just cruising the area.
They are always going round, the police station is in the corner of the carpark.
It used to specially for motorhomes but now all the signs have gone but you can still use the motorhome facilities at the fuel station.

The immigrants rarely nick anything otherwise they know they will get arrested for theft and will have consequences… whereas breaking into vans it seems they just get told to do one…🤔

That is exactly right, it's almost funny really, if someone else had come on and told the same story , I would probably half not believe it.
For a start as soon as we get back to the van, doors unlocked, open the door , bedding all messed up, ok straight away someone's been in, how did he think we wouldn't notice, then when I Go to check the back doors there his feet are, so stick my keys in and he's upand away.
Right now the questions, how did he think we wouldn't notice, what's he going to do when we get back to UK. He had nothing with him didn't even seem to have full pockets, what if we were in fact going the other way to Spain or somewhere.
Under the bedding he had moved were Julie's laptop , a small tablet of mine and my wallet with a few English pounds in it. He would have been far better off just taking them and away, in fact he ended up with nothing but a sore leg for something it was almost impossible to get away with.

The funny thing for us , after reading on here of someone being robbed at night, just an hour before we went to cite Europe we were discussing putting some bolts on the doors but in fact as it turned out wouldn't have made any difference here as he got through the window

Please folks, don't associate our latest adventure with gravelines, totally different place , I wouldn't go back to cite Europe, well not unless one of us stayed with the van but that is not the case with gravelines, I will be back at the earliest opportunity.
In fact with the sun being out most days it's been one of the best stays we have had here. It just gets better.(y) (y) (y) :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :drinks:
