On the road again.

I had a similar problem with an illegal immigrant about six years ago.

I did not realise he had got in through the rear doors of the PVC we had at the time, whilst I popped into Aldi (or was it Lidl ?) at Cite Europe to get some bread for our lunch whilst going back home through the Tunnel. I was away for less than 10 mins and my wife was sat in the front passenger seat but did not hear the rear doors being opened.

Our experience was a bit more troublesome than yours chaser. We did not know he was there until we were pulled over by UK Border Force before getting on the train. I think they knew he was already there (possibly picked up on CCTV which seems to be everywhere in that area) because the first thing they asked me was to open the rear doors. You can imagine my surprise and shock! My wife and I were immediately arrested and the intruder was taken away for interview. Both my wife and I were detained separately and interrogated. They soon accepted that we were a pair of elderly innocents who were naive about such matters, and we were given a cup of tea and formally “de-arrested”. We were able to proceed to board a train about an hour later than booked.

I did write up the experience shortly afterwards and posted it on MHFun (but I cannot find it now) as a warning to others to be more careful than we had been.

After this experience, for the next 3 years every time we arrived back into the UK we were pulled over by UK Border Force for a full search of our Motorhome. Even though in this time we changed our van, we were still searched. I presume that a “flag” had been added to my computer record they hold because after machine-reading of my Passport we were asked to pull over to a search area!

We were warned by Border Force when after we were released in France to thoroughly clean everywhere the immigrant had been because many of them had scabies.

The funny thing for us , after reading on here of someone being robbed at night, just an hour before we went to cite Europe we were discussing putting some bolts on the doors but in fact as it turned out wouldn't have made any difference here as he got through the window

Perhaps he was a security adviser and was showing you your vans weakness ….😆🤔

Seriously though Charlie, it could have been another outcome… be careful out there…☀️🍻👍🏼😎

I know I sound like a speaking clock, about this place but it never fails to impress me, there is everything here that there is in any other village in France if you have got good weather , if it's raining you might as well be in Rhyl but when the sun is out, for me it is unbeatable, and so close to the tunnel as well.
If you live near the tunnel you can be here and set up in a couple of hours from home.
I just can't believe it isn't overrun with Brits but it never is there was two vans here from UK this morning but only stopped for the night, doubt if they even got out.
None here now apart from us.

I know, like nearly everywhere else, it's fantastic in the sun, but the crossings a bit pricey for most, just to have someone talking in a French accent too you?

I'm on the Norfolk Broads, the sun is blazing down for the next week and I'm listening to my Edith Piaf record!

It's a lot cheaper, so I have non, non regrettes! 😄

The immigrants rarely nick anything otherwise they know they will get arrested for theft and will have consequences… whereas breaking into vans it seems they just get told to do one…🤔
but both are crimes, so what's the difference in consequences? 🤔

The difference is not in the consequences but in whether the police will open a file and investigate or not. Without a police investigation and evidence there is no case and no consequences.

Had the speediest crossing ever, should have been half past one we got there at 11 and offered the half 11 one at no extra so straight round and on only stopped for passport checks , no other, back in UK at just gone 11 our time.
